One of the nutritionists I went to last year recommended that over the 30 min cardio. I still am hesitiant, as I have cholestorol as well as a slight weight issue. I am curious, so keep posting with results and maintanance.

Wow that whole situation is awful. I consider myself lucky that the Dr and GI in my case fax everything the same day between each other, and I don't believe they are on the same network either. My biggest problem is that neither one is listenening to my concerns at this point. I went for my 6 month check last week, told my GI what was going on, pretty much...

"This sounds great but I hope that they post the nutritional information about it asap so I can assess the fat content. Unfortunately, it is pretty hard to find good tasting food that satisfy the requirements I need, which are gluten free and low fat, due to medical restrictions. It is especially difficult to find baked goods that satisfy these requirements...

The cake sounds exactly like a cake I make all the time already. It is YUMMY!! Can't wait to give theirs a try!!! Maybe then I won't have to make it so often.

Many places the grilled chicken is off limits. It has to do with either the processing marinating, or seasoning. Most seem to get the grilled chicken from the same places, so this could be why. The Sonics by me all flat out say that all of their foods come in contact with foods that contain wheat, eggs, and soy. The managers have all said that they do not...

ARCHIVED Is It Possible
hermitgirl posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
is it possible for someone to unknowingly ingest trace amounts of gluten, for it to build up for a couple of weeks and then have a major glutening type reaction? -
I quit smoking almost two and a half years ago. That was literally when my health went downhill. Something about carbon monoxide masking symptoms. I had smoked for over 15 years. I did quit cold turkey, I was too cheap to pay that much for cigarrettes anymore. To be quite honest, for me quitting gluten was much more difficult than smoking. It is fairly easy...

ARCHIVED Osteopenia At 35...argh!
hermitgirl replied to RissaRoo's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I was diagnosed last year with osteopenia at 30. A month after my Celiac diagnosis. Both my GI and my regular Dr. told me to take Oscal D twice a day. That was it. I know that isn't enough, as Oscal has minimal magnesium, and I know I need to exercise more and all that. Both told me though that since I was so young, and more than likely this was caused by... -
ARCHIVED Gf Medicine
hermitgirl replied to Jen H's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think it depends on which version of sudafed you take. I usually take the sudafed p.e. (little red pill) and haven't have problems with that. When in doubt, call the 800 number on the box. They are owned by the same company that makes Tylenol, and they are very upfront and will send you a list if you ask for one. -
ARCHIVED Nasonex Not Gluten-free
hermitgirl replied to ArtGirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I evidently posted in the wrong thread as I was referring to Nasacort AQ, not Nasonex. Obviously the manufacturer does not know what they are putting in their product, as that was what they told me when I called. "Our polysorbate 80, the moisturizing agent in our spray, comes from wheat" Nasacort AQ made me sick for several days after one use, all the same... -
ARCHIVED Dating And Celiac
hermitgirl replied to hermitgirl's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thank you for that. I wish you luck. My main goal was to get some input from people who have had experiences in this subject. Hopefully your new friend stays patient, and that you two can continue your happiness. I like the concept of the non-food-centric activities. Is he vegan as well? -
Allergy Medicine Help
hermitgirl replied to gfpdx's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ok, so for anyone who needs future reference, Nasacort AQ NOT safe. They did say that they do not make a claim that they are gluten free. They just have "no detectable amount of gluten". I am going to go hide now. Not doing well. -
ARCHIVED Nasonex Not Gluten-free
hermitgirl replied to ArtGirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
When I called last month they said that the polysorbate 80 is made with wheat, and though they claim there is "no detectable amount of gluten in their product" they do not claim that nasacort aq is gluten free. -
Allergy Medicine Help
hermitgirl replied to gfpdx's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
more like the steroid nasal spray. i used to use flonase but it was way too drying for my sinuses and was always giving me nosebleeds. my dr just prescribed nasacort aq, but according to the manufacturer, the polysorbate 80 that is used as the moisturizer is made from wheat, but supposedly still is gluten free. i did cave yesterday as my allergies have gone... -
supposedly mesquite flour was used for years in Mexico to make a hot cocoa like drink. just mix it with hot milk. i really need to go get some and quit thinking about it.

I went to a Chili's and asked specifically for the gluten free menu. I ordered the potato soup, and reminded them that the kitchen needed to be reminded that this was from the wheat free gluten free menu. The waitress brought my soup, then set the box with the crackers down next to it with the spoon sticking out of the crackers.... I looked at her and commented...

Zyrtec is also gluten free. Still trying to find a nasal spray that is gluten free though. -
ARCHIVED Starburst Jelly Beans
hermitgirl posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
These jelly beans have always been my favorite, but they are only available for easter. Mars actually put gluten free on the package!!! It is under the nutrition info and ingredients stuff.. Hoping this is the start for them to label everything a bit better! -
Many of the hand sanitizers have tocopherol, or vitamin e for a moisturizer. Unless you have verified with the company that their source for either is not wheat be carefull. The only company that has ever responded to my question of their gluten and wheat status was Lysol. I have been glutened by hand sanitizers in the past, as you do not rinse the residue...

ARCHIVED Rice Crust?!
hermitgirl replied to digmom1014's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Yum, that crust may be usable for pot pies as well.. or meat pies.... ok, need to stop, i am making myself hungry. -
Supposedly there is some kind of natural supplement that helps in the slightest cases of contamination, gluten block or something like that. I just had someone tell me about it, but have no clue other than that.

ARCHIVED What Do You Do For A Living?
hermitgirl replied to Bosque's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am a hairstylist and work at a health club. Love doing hair, club pays the bills. Going to school online. Was originally aiming towards communications, now thinking going about nutrition. -
hmm... too bad I am clueless when it comes to chemistry. Does anyone have someone in the science field that we could suggest this idea to? Not in the mood for daydreaming today, I am all for action. That, and I too would love to show my mother how contaminated her house is.

ARCHIVED Redken Products
hermitgirl replied to mcole's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would love to help you with this, but the Redken rep at the salon I work out of is useless. If you got to Redken.com, bottom of the page, contact us, choose products/technical issues. Redken as a company is very good at getting their information out. Unfortunately their website isn't the most helpful. Hope that helps a bit. I do know that many of their... -
