  1. I made the cake and it turned out really well. I tested it on my non-gluten free coworkers, and they thought it was really good. Moist. We all agreed on one thing though, the frosting recipe lacked... The cake though... I was surprised at how well it went over.
  2. From what I understand, anything with the words "rapid release" are off limits in Tylenol. Thank you for the reminder though.
  3. I honestly can say that I felt the same way when I was first diagnosed. "Friends" abandoned me, and when you feel alone, especially at the beginning it really sucks. Once you really get in the swing of things, and aren't terrified of food and friends, life gets great. My best friends are still around, and I have met many new people. For the most part, everyone...
  4. I know it has been a while, but when I called and spoke to customer service with Bare Essentials, they told me that their lip products contained Barley Oil, therefore were not safe for someone with celiac. I specifically said that I had celiac, so maybe that was the difference?
  5. Their website says everything but the bun is gluten free. On the right hand side of their homepage. Open Original Shared Link
  6. The one closest to me doesn't. In fact they have yet to even get the Betty Crocker mixes. The irony is they finished remodeling about two weeks ago....
  7. This is on the FAQ section of their website.: 40 do ALMAY Pure Blends
  8. I wish I could help, but am finding myself in the same boat. Many people on here post about everyday minerals and afterglow cosmetics, but I don't care for loose powders and am over the whole ordering thing. I used to use some Avon, but they are so inconsistent I gave up. Skincare is down to Purpose and Cetaphil cleansers. I am almost out of the moisturizer...
  9. Not thinking it was the antibiotic itself, as when he gave me the same antibiotic from a different manufacture that he verified as gluten free I didn't have a recurrance if issues. I have continued to get better, yet have been on the different manufacturer's version since Thursday. I took my last dose yesterday, as they had to extend my days on it. I know...
  10. The last thing on my mind was the name of the manufacturer. It is Aurobindo, and the antibiotic is cefuroxime, 500mg. They also manufacture a simvastatin that is not safe either. My pharmacist has apologized profusely, and is making extra notes to prevent this from happening again. Now that I am starting to feel better I am able to use common sense again...
  11. I am thinking more along the lines of when someone is out and about and cannot wash their hands, like at a park and such. I use Wet Ones, as they remove surface dirt and germs from surfaces. I don't know if they "wipe off" gluten, but it just makes me feel better if I have something to clean my hands with before eating, and/or after. That and how many times...
  12. So I have been doing really well as of lately. Went to an allergist last week and he gave me some antibiodics as he was concerned that I had a minor infection, and wanted that cleared up before testing next week. Since starting the antibiodic, I have literally bloated 15 pounds, and it of course is all in my belly, my migraines are returning, heartburn is...
  13. Other than seasonal allergies, I was never sick before I quit smoking. I smoked for about 15 years. Within a couple of weeks of quitting I started having stomach problems, about six months later Bel's Palsy, and a year after the Palsy the Celiac was finally diagnosed. I have spent more time and money at dr's offices since I quit smoking than I ever had. I...
  14. I wasn't suprprised to see this, but find it odd that it took so long. When I was diagnosed in Sept, and contacted Quaker, they told me that they due to cross contamination in every step of the manufacturing starting at harvest they wouldn't recommend any of their products to those with any form of wheat sensitivity or allergy. That pretty much said to me...
  15. No I have not, nor did I even think that. I will have to look into that. Thank you! As I said, it seemed odd in every way. Not really liking the whole waking up with a leg flailing around bit, or waking from it hitting the wall. (bed is rather close to a wall, and it isn't quite flailing flailing, but enough that it wakes me up, not just a simple twitch....
  16. So here is the oddball in the group. I had never had an issue with restless leg until after my diagnosis. It is the worst on days that I work out and focus on my legs. I have been tested, no deficiencies, and here is the wierdest part, it is mainly just one leg. I constantly have to move it, or pop my knee or hip. It keeps me from relaxing which is obviously...
  17. Thanks. Must be something else in it that doesn't agree with any of my system. Never had a problem until they added the extra stuff to it. Oh well. Back to water.
  18. Stomache issues as well as skin breakouts. Just not feeling good, gassy, running to the bathroom every few minutes. Headaches, and slight reflux.
  19. Has anyone else had problems with this product? I have been responding like I do to a glutening the last couple of times I drank one. I know their website claims all Gatorade products are gluten free, and I never had problems until they added the extra vitamins. I can't find any info on their source of alpha tocopherol acetate... Ingredients in G2:Water...
  20. CC is a major issue at Wendy's. I have watched at two locations while food is being prepared, and won't eat there. The buns are stored right next to the potatoes at these locations, the person who handles both does not change gloves in between, and got rather crabby about being asked to do so. As far as the frostys, now that they have all these new things...
  21. I know this sounds odd, but after reading, a few different books on Celiac since being diagnosed, I have noticed that there really isn't much difference other than how in depth the author's get. There was nothing new in Elisabeth's book that isn't in any of the other books I have already read, other than her personal experiences. Her information was the vaguest...
  22. I heard that right about the time the book came out... Wondered if anything was ever going to come out about it.
  23. I wondered the same thing. I can tell you that I don't know when it happens, but all of a sudden you will realize that the hunger is gone. I think it is gradual, so we don't really notice it. I wondered the same thing. Give yourself a few more months to heal before you think about it again. Way easier said than done, but it makes the time go faster. I have...
  24. Given the density scan was in October, a month after diagnosis of Celiac, I haven't done it yet. I figure I will maybe have it done yearly just to make sure I am making some form of progress. Neither my GI or regular Dr were that concerned, as they said I am young enough to easily reverse the damage, as long as I stay gluten free.

    ARCHIVED Restaurants

I like the concept of a gluten free menu, but there is always the concern about cross contamination issue. My biggest thing is asking about ingredients. I spoke to the manager and the owner at a restauruant that opened a few days ago. I asked them if they have anything that was safe for someone who couldn't have anything with gluten, or wheat derivitives...
