  1. Another new entry to the market are the Lightfull Satiety Smoothies. They are delicious!! Open Original Shared Link
  2. BostonCeliac, I am a fan of Redbridge and back in my former life Sierra Nevada was one of my top 5!! floridanative, Strongbow from the UK is very good especially on draft. It also comes in true pint cans and glass bottles. The other one could be Magners but it is from Ireland - also gluten free and delicious as well. Just don't drink too many in one sitting...
  3. I saw them at the Shaw's in Newburyport (2 varieties/flavors), and I'm pretty sure at the Whole Foods on Cambridge Street (Charles River Plaza - Beacon Hill).
  4. Yes I saw two varieties of the Casabe Rainforest Crackers last week at a Shaw's Supermarket (owned by Albertsons) in Newburyport, MA. I also recall seeing them at Wholefoods in Boston, MA too. They are rather good IMHO. -Adam
  5. If anyone lives in Boston proper Redbridge is here! I found it at Hanover Street Liquors in the North End (2 blocks away from home) and the store manager was fully aware of gluten-intolerance/celiac disease - which surprised me to say the least! I didn't even see it stocked as I was asking about Bard's (which they also carry) but was extremely happy that...
  6. I think the site is still in its infancy stage...hence why the retailer info isn't working correctly. Here's the AB press release link: Open Original Shared Link
  7. The Redbridge site is up and running - not fully functional yet but at least this means they are getting close. You can enter your DOB (won't be able to see the text) and then enter the site. Open Original Shared Link Cheers!
  8. Again, here's the PDF from A-B about RedBridge... Open Original Shared Link
  9. Wow!! Open Original Shared Link Hopefully this will go national and bars/nightclubs will begin to stock this product by A-B - let alone all the other channels such as grocery/liquor stores!!!
  10. I'd like to start baking bread from scratch and obviously will need a bread maker. I just saw this one on Amazon with a built-in gluten-free cycle. Is this a gimic or does it actually work? Open Original Shared Link Has anyone used this one, or can recommend a bread maker that isn't too fancy and user-friendly? Thanks, Adam
  11. Bi-Aglut is very popular in Italy - for one it is Italian. Great products! Schar as well. Bi-Aglut also has a gluten-free beer but only available in Europe. Tastes pretty good. My family keeps some stocked when I travel across the pond to visit. You have to order it from the pharmacia.
  12. As ehrin said, Ramapo - very sweet from the honey notes (like mead); my least favorite Bard's - heavy bodied with a solid flavor profile New Grist - lighter on the palate but still damn good Bi-Aglut (Italia) - very similiar to New Grist - lighter buckwheat beer And yes in my former life my favorite beer was Harpoon IPA!!
  13. Is the Ramapo still very sweet. I bought some about a year ago and it tasted like bad mead. I'd much rather drink hard cider than the Ramapo although I heard they toned down the "honey notes." New Grist and Bard's, coming from a former quality beer drinker taste pretty damn good considering the ingredients.
  14. I have no problems with Heineken or Amstel but avoid them anyway. Bud Light affects me. I do miss a good IPA.
  15. As a former micro beer drinker the New Grist isn't that bad at all. While lighter than Bard's Tale (which is also pretty good) I find it much more flavorful than all the mass produced crap out there and find it refreshing. It will never be able to compare to a craft beer like a Harpoon or Shipyard or import, but it certainly does the job when cider, wine...
  16. There is another gluten-free beer that was produced on a small scale by Widmer Brothers Brewing in Portland, OR called Hooligan Pale Ale. It was available at a beer festival but perhaps they are in the works for larger-scale production. Again, it was a sorghum based brew.
  17. Last week I was able to try the New Grist - a buddy brought a sixer when he came to visit from DC - I really liked it as it tasted very similiar to a lager beer yet very hoppy - almost like an IPA. Yesterday I bought a sixer of Bard's in Boston. Also very good but heavier in taste - with a nut-brown finish. I've had the Ramapo Valley and didn't really like...
  18. Strongbow on draft is truly the best! Magners on draft is pretty good too. I like the drier ciders...but too many in one sitting will yield a nasty headache the next morning !!!
  19. Hi all, I work for a beverage industry trade publication and website and we were alerted that as of June 2nd 2006 Beverages Direct is now stocking New Grist Session Lager for sale online. They will ship to the lower 48 states. It is currently priced at $32.99 for a 12-pack. Shipping rate is $10.00 to $12.50 via UPS ground and is specially packaged to avoid...
  20. Hells yeah! Thanks so much!! I guess I'll be taking a Zipcar out there at some point. I wasn't a fan of the Ramapo Valley beer when I first had it two years ago - tasted like mead and I'm hoping they toned down the sweetness!! -Adam
  21. I picked up C diff when I was visiting a former college buddy in China. I then became gluten intolerant and the docs believe it was triggered due to "environmental stresses." Anyway, Flagyl is nasty antibiotic and I recall very similiar symptoms that you describe. As all the other posters mentioned, the best course of action is to continue to take the probiotics...
  22. Max, working on it hehe!!! Moongirl, nice work! The new Whole Foods on Cambridge Street (right near Mass General) has a great selection as does Trader Joe's. I've tried to get Martignetti's in the North End to look into gluten-free beer as well as Charles Street Liquors in Beacon Hill but haven't had much luck as there aren't any distributors carrying the...
  23. Wow up in Beverly eh? What's their price point? I work for a beverage industry trade publication and website in Cambridge, MA and I will be writing an article on the unmet need for gluten-free beer. The publication reaches about 20,000 individual retailers and distributors across the US. The big guys here in Boston should def stock the New Grist, RPV, Bard...
  24. I like it as a substitute too for couscous and use chicken broth or beef stock instead of water for flavoring if having as a side dish with dinner.
  25. I know this is old but from the December 16th 2005 Business Journal...very exciting! Lakefront rolls out gluten-free beer Lakefront Brewery Inc., Milwaukee, has introduced New Grist, a gluten-free beer for consumers who suffer from Celiac disease, or gluten intolerance. Brewed from sorghum and gluten-free yeast grown on molasses, New Grist is designed...
