  1. Fatigue yes, but I get a type of "buzzed fatigue" so I don't sleep well at all when glutened and end up dragging through the day
  2. I took the liquid benedryl yesterday and didn't have any reaction, in fact I took it as an article had said that anti histimaines might help with glutening and I'd been glutened the day b4, it did help somewhat I'm in Canada as well.
  3. if you have access to an asian grocer you could try Konjak Noodles, they are also called Yam noodle, they are a Japanese noodle traditionally used in shiritaki or sukiyaki. the ingredients are konjac flour, water calcium hydroxide because of the calcium hydroxide it's best to rinse these in hot water before using them or you can drain the package and...
  4. Hi Bill, if the additional diagnoses will help you stick to the diet then it would be worth it. the re-occurrence of the rash and loose bowels may indicate that you are getting small sources of gluten (hidden or cross contamination (cc)) in your diet. Others who are much better versed in the intricacies of celiac disease will be along soon with suggestions...
  5. hi shoestring! actually your spelling is just fine, trust me I've seen way worse and from people not as humble as you. from what I've read on this wonderful forum the easiest thing to do at the beginning is to keep it simple and pure as you can with the food. Rice, corn, meat, chicken, pork, nuts, veggies and fruit all of these you should be...
  6. my husband is the same way, for that reason I did do the enterolab testing and for him it settled the matter, that and seeing my reaction to going gluten-free and then getting glutened during the holidays. I did have a blood test (not sure which one, wasn't told at the time) and it was negative but that didn't surprise me as I have been gluten lite...
  7. True Balsamic should be made from grapes and aged in wooden casks only. If it were mixed with another vinegar then I imagine it would be labled so or in the ingredient list. I buy mine in an Italian store and have never seen other vinegars used as the "mother" (unlike Apple cider vinegar) (I'm Italian)
  8. Thanks for this post fedora , it gives a newbie like myself a great deal of hope as I share many of the same symptoms
  9. now that give me hope cause that sound just like me (the 4 days every 2 weeks etc part) thanks for posting that!
  10. I'm another with "Flo problems" but it has been the opposite, for the past 2 years I have had 2 periods a month, my GP said there's nothing to do but go on hormones which I didn't want to do. The 2 times I can recall being strictly gluten free my period fell back to 1x per month but then since mid december (when I was glutened) I've now had it 3 times and...
  11. hmm, another long eyelash person here....on a similar note a local pediatric allergist wrote a paper where he mentioned that a significant % of his male patients had brown eyes and long, dark lashes...who knows maybe there is a link??
  12. I seem to have differing reactions to differing levels of processing: straight wheat flour or non distilled vinegar - D, cramping etc and almost right away, mental ones within a few hours or the next day....anxiety, crabbiness, feeling down and unable to sleep very well (back b4 I knew to avoid gluten it would have included occular migraines as well...
  13. I saw some by Glutino in the freezer section of a store here in Canada....can't comment on their taste but they do exist! Thanks to all who posted in this thread, even though I didn't ask the question we're in a similar situation here at my house and all this advice in invaluable! Can't wait until I get this whole thing down to an art and can begin...
  14. sure it does, the sound of the pipes is caused by a forceful expulsion of wind through a small opening *sorry, couldn't resist*
  15. I'm also new to this and wondered that myself, and then I got glutened on the weekend my experience...it's doesn't go away. Perhaps you have been quite good at keeping the gluten out of your diet, but I wouldn't test it
  16. Thanks as well for your response as well as TES, this clears up quite a bit for me as it always seemed no one else I knew had these symptoms
  17. I also use it and have made that recipe as well. It makes good pancakes and I make a coconut loaf that we eat as a basic bread, not too sweet. the flour itself does not really taste like coconut so I find it can be used rather frequently....it also has the advantage that it does not require xantham gum to get a good consistency as nasalady said there...
  18. I love chia seed!!! I mix it with yogurt etc and after a bit it takes on a tapioca-pearl-like consistency (although very tiny) this is great stuff for upping your fiber plus it has loads of protein. I've never tried it as a flour b4 tho, something new to experiment with!!
  19. thanks for the reply, do you also get the lovely uncontrolable random muscle twitches those are "fun" to watch.
  20. can you tell me more about this or do you have a link???? I'm having a holy moley moment right now, Physio after Physio has commented on my "tight nerves" and I just realized that I hadn't had those feelings in a while until this weekend when I got glutened at my brothers.
  21. lol, it was a donut that got me as well sorry, back to the thread!
  22. All the advice above is good but I would caution 1 item....you should eat more but from my experience it would be easier on your system and better for you mentally if you increased the caloric intake over a couple of weeks. from my experience, both personally and having worked for one of the national diet companies many moons ago, coming off a Very...
  23. Open Original Shared Link found this cool link, hopefully this will help! Good Luck
  24. Silicea is silicon dioxide in minute levels it's supposed to support skin and hair formation. from Wiki:
  25. in your case does the "thin" refer to the amount of hair or the hair shaft itself? if it's the latter then I don't believe there's much that will help (other than colouring your hair), if the former then when I noticed my hair thinning this summer a friend recommended Silicea, a sublingual cell salt it's a homeopathic remedy that seemed to help. I was...
