  1. Hi Valerie, if you've not been eating then it's quite possible that that's the reason for feeling "weird and dizzy", combine this with D and you could be out of balance and dehydrated. my suggestion, try and get something into yourself. If you can't eat "real food" then I believe there are types of Ensure that are gluten free (I've seen a thread on...
  2. this may seem like an odd question but have you lost a lot of weight lately? last year I was on a Very Low Calorie Diet (Dr monitored) and change in cycles can be an issue. it seems that when you lose a lot of fat quickly it alters the levels of estrogen in your system (estrogen can be stored in fat) which affects your cycles. another thought is about...
  3. Reporting in, no change this week but I also came down with sinus infection #3 (all in the last 6 weeks) and finally got some antibiotics for it. I did start to revamp my diet a couple of days ago then found out today, after 2 days of consuming it, that my protein powder has gluten in it, so I'm going to re think my strategy this weekend.
  4. hey sweetkeet! Welcome to the forum and I'm sorry you are feeling so awful! Constipation is not that unusual for people with celiac/gluten intolerance, especially adults. as for what to do (and I agree, get off the laxatives if you can!) a couple of suggestions are take lots magnesium citrate or tons of Vitamin C, both of these will eventually cause...
  5. Thanks for this, at least now I know what to look for and why I was feeling symptoms the last couple of days (insert head banging smiley here) btw, with the EAS powders I was told they are not great if you are lactose intolerant but otherwise they rank up there
  6. just to continue the hijack there was an article in our national paper about low levels of vitamin D in pregnant women may be linked to their children being more likely to suffer from MS. Given that MS is most common in northern countries (Canada, Scotland, Northern Japan) it seems to make sense. I've upped my intake by quite a bit, mostly to help...
  7. my son's allergist told us that allergic reactions don't happen the first time you encounter the offending item but the 2nd. he said that the first encounter the body realizes it's a "bad thing" and the 2nd time (and thereafter) it mounts an attack or defense against the offender. I don't know for sure if this is true but it seems to dove tail with the...
  8. umm, thought I read here that Kellog's Corn Flakes have barley malt in them??? could that be a source of your reaction?
  9. Re the almond/peanut = nut allergy: peanuts are legumes (peas, lentils, soy etc) most people who are allergic to peanuts are actually allergic to the mold on the peanut because they do not experience the same symptoms when eating peas or lentils or soy products; HOWEVER, there are those that are actually allergic/intolerant to legumes and can't consume...
  10. I'll second this one as I get the toe creeping thing as well the arches of the foot. at one point I was on a Dr monitored very low carb, low fat diet and was supplemented with potassium daily. my cramping/creeping continued until I was on a fairly high dose supplement (liquid), apparently it's quite common when you eat lower carb. Not sure if this applies...
  11. Thanks for that! I've used that energy source pre-gluten-free and actually have one but had put it aside. I like this one better than energy drinks as there is less of a crash at the end.
  12. I read somewhere that the extra eggs in a recipe with coconut flour act as the "gluten" in the recipe....as for your meatballs have you tried sifting the flour b4 using it? also, from my experience only mind, you may want to use about 1/2 of what you think you need as a binder because the coconut flour absorbs so much moisture....just add the smaller amount...
  13. hey, you're in a place people where understand! I went thru mental h#ll in the fall, lack of focus, anxiety, depression, brain fog etc, maybe not as bad as yours but what you say sounds awfully familiar!! you'll post when you can....in the meantime try and give yourself a break....eat simple foods if you can, rice, fruit, vegetables, meat....keep the seasonings...
  14. add me to the list of pulled muscles when coughing! I don't get coughs very often but when I do it's quite harsh. this time I just pulled a muscle in my back but years ago I coughed so bad I did something to my ribs and couldn't stand straight for 2 days until I saw a Chiro. thanks for confirming about the methocarbamol
  15. Hi Jaime! there are many people who are gluten intolerant who experience gastro symptoms in a delayed fashion....I'm one, If I get contaminated the first thing that goes is my ability to focus, then I get anxious and down/depressed and then 24 hours later the D hits! I usually only get the pain etc if I have a couple of contaminations in a row but the...
  16. my Dr is the same, you can't have celiac/gluten intolerance because of no D....next time I am printing out the article (on this site here somewhere) that points out that only about 30-40% of ADULTS present with D, (I think that's the number, I remember it was below 50%) and I'm going to give it to him along with my enterolab results and then we'll have a...
  17. I'll join in, I'm a newbie but gained 17 lbs from July -Dec when my weight started to stabilize, "funnily enough" Dec was the time when I really started going gluten-free Friday's seem like a good idea.

ARCHIVED Group Letter to Dr. Fine

I've been following this thread with great interest and I want to add my thanks to gentleheart and all those involved with the letter this obviously took an enormous amount of time and as a newbie I am grateful for everyone's commitment to this issue so we may all learn! btw, gentleheart, I hope you write for a living!
  19. is it possible that 9.11 is the time at which you consumed gluten???
  20. jmho, but it's certainly a possibility....not the same thing but my son was diagnosed with a dairy allergy at 3 and that was on top of the lactose intolerance they identified at 6 weeks (public health nurse had me put Lactaid drops in his mouth b4 breast feeding.....woman was brilliant ) at about 8 or 9, after we had been "assured" he'd grown out...
  21. Mother of Jibril I would also be very interested in your findings, I'd just discovered these 2 weeks ago and had been using them for a "sweet fix", it'd be a downer if the bars were contaminated
  22. congratulations!! What a great post, I hope this is indeed a great year for you
  23. catch 22 with the anti inflams, it will reduce the inflamation but then some of them can increase constipation as well someone else on this forum has suggested aloe vera gel, that's supposed to have natural anti inflamatory properties, I was thinking of giving it a try myself
  24. eat plain (if I can stomach it, I get nausea), take extra doses of vitamin D and B12 for the mental symptoms and sometimes a natural diuretic if the edema is more than 2 lbs in 1 day. this weekend I also tried an anti histimane to see if that would lessen the impact, didn't help with the D and was okay otherwise, not entirely sure if it helped or not
  25. Hi TES, From what I've read we are not supposed to react to distilled vinegar (or distilled alcohol) but I am one of those who does react so I think it depends on each persons system. for what it's worth, I would get a new can opener (just for yourself if you are in a shared household) and then "challenge" each of the products that you think might...
