  1. There are various options, like many people have said, it depends on your system. As for me, I can tolerate oats, as long as they are through places like bobs redmill. Unfortunately, they are not really a quick food. For quick breakfasts, I get instant grits. I know there are many of you out there that have assorted problems with them, but there are some...
  2. The one I have here sells gluten free beer too. It is the more expensive Greene;s brand but it was good to have pizza and a cold beer together.
  3. I have had their gluten free pizza and the brownie that they offer and I like them both pretty well. Since it is an hours drive to the nearest one where I am at here in Ca, and the cost, we don't go very often.

    ARCHIVED In N Out

I can't remember which one I went to, but they opened a fresh tub of sauce, grabed a clean spatula and slathered the sauce on the fries right in front of me. I know it looked like overkill to the people behind me but it kept me from getting sick.
  5. Hello, It isn't easy coping with being gluten free and in the Navy. When I go on deployments, I end up taking my own food or pick things up as I hit port. Being diagnosed with Celiac Disease is actually a disqualifier and usually gets you medically dischared. The GI doc I had put me down as Gluten Intollerant so I can stay in until retirement (about...
  6. I use Health Valley Organic Cream of Mushroom soup. It is more wattery than Campbells Cream of Mushroom, but it tastes fine. Another ingredient you need to look at is the Durkee French Fried Onions that are full of Gluten too. We replaced them with Funyuns and it actually worked. Open Original Shared Link
  7. Umm......... IBS doesn't just go away either. Just like Celiac/Gluten Intollerance, it can be controlled, but it doesn't go away. I agree that he may not know a lot about food intollerances. It sounds like a good idea to just go on the diet, if it makes you feel better go for it, but if you do, you need to stick to it.
  8. I ended up getting a second Gastro doc that figured everyting out, and I am glad I did. I found out there were a lot of abnormal tests that I was originally told by the first one I had was "normal".
  9. Wow, it's been a while since I have updated on this one. For those that have been wondering, I have been cleared "fit for duty". This will get me to the point where I can be medically retired. Good thing is that I am on shore duty and I can control what I eat fairly easily. Sea duty will be an interesting challenge and I will figure it out from there...
  10. "My doctor told me he didn't want to call what I had Celiac because I didn't have the symptoms. He told me eating gluten would not hurt me and that my intolerance would go away. And he told me that a wheat allergy would have been discovered by now." Wow, I know you have seen a lot of Doctors and trust me many of us have. My first advice passion is to...
  11. My guess is that the decreased hunger could be related to healing too. Lucky us, gluten damages our intestines which keeps them from properly absorbing nutrients. When we heal the damage, our bodies start getting more nutrients from the food helping us to feel full, satisfied or however you would like to put it for longer periods of time.
  12. I'm not too sure about other products because I use dairy based probiotics which obviously doesn't work for you. One thing I have learned, when it comes to allergen labeling (I know it's not an allergy it's a disease but the FDA considers it an allergy for labelling), in the US we only label wheat as an allergen on foods. I have learned to scrutinize...
  13. I've gone with the "selective" route. I tell them that I have a Gluten-Intollerance (since that is my official diagnosis for the time being), if I get a confused look and no question I tell them it is similar to a really bad food allergy and it gets left at that. If they actually ask what it meens, I simply tell them that I can't eat anything made out of...
  14. I am not too sure about helping fight hunger, I use them to assist in general gut health and (to me) it seems to lessen the effects of accidental glutenning. I use Danactive from Dannon, I can describe it best as a yogurt drink. They have had to change the advertising because there isn't any proof that it boosts the immune system. Most of my research...
  15. There are Gluten-Free MREs out on the market, just google them, they are a little expensive. I have Lara Bars, Cliff Bars, pouch tuna (easier to store and lighter than cans), various crackers, smoked oysters, sardines, peanut butter, canned fruits and veggies (pop top of course), gluten free box soups (you can find them at Trader Joe's), G.O.R.P./Trail mixes...
  16. I have bought Trader Joe's Rice Pasta and Cheese (I think thats the name of it), when I looked at the Powdered cheese envelope, I noticed it was stamped for Amy's product. Course I didn't look until too late. I ended up with the same reaction that I did for the same product with the Amy's label so I don't buy either of those products anymore.
  17. I personnaly can't eat Fruity Pebbles, but I can eat the Malt-O-Meal Fruity Dyno-Bites. It looks like all Doritos are safe (at least according to my iPhone app called is that Gluten Free?) I can't find info on the Munchos. Most of the time, I just go ahead and buy Chex, with all the different Gluten free flavors they have, it is kind of nice. I dont...
  18. I agree with Richard. A lot of it has to do with the individual. On the most part for me, it is usually around 8+ hours until I have any kind of reaction. I suggest keeping some sort of log of what you eat so if it happens, i have the possible idea if when and what it was. It comes in really handy when going to restaraunts.
  19. While at the park, go to city hall. They have lists of restaraunts at the park with gluten free options. As far as other restaraunts, there is a P F Changs on katella. In the Anaheim Garden Walk.
  20. My DW found this and I had to look for it to share with you all. Our local AAA team here does various "awareness" nights. This is the first time I have seen anything for Celiac. Open Original Shared Link Course, it is a little late for tonight, but this is the second one so there are hopefully more in the future.
  21. I found those, the honey-nut, rice and corn chex. I love them all. I am still looking for chocolate and I've seen stories of strawberry. Like others, I can not find the Betty Crocker stuff either.
  22. See, this is the same question I have. My GI said I am not a celiac because the biopsy and the antibody tests were negative. The genetic test was positive and I have all but a couple of symptoms (one of them is DH). So he said I have a "severe gluten intolerance".
  23. Wow, thanks for the responses so far. To answer some of your questions.... I am a lot healthier on the diet than off and I have started returning to the diet. Unfortunately, in the military I have to have the diagnosis so there can be arrangements made for me to eat while I am out to sea. Navy food used to be loved by every other branch of service...
  24. Ok, here we go. I was originally told I have Celiac from my regular doctor. I was later sent to a gastro who said I didn't because I didn't have the proper tests run. After my first biopsy and blood work, I was informed that the gene testing was pos for both genes, anti-body tests were neg and biopsy was in-conclusive. The gastro thought it was because...
  25. My wife has an app called food additives and it cost her something like $5 for it. I do not trust maltodextrins myself. If it is made here in the states it is the other ingredients. If they import it from some where else there is no guarantee if it is made from wheat or not. Another thing is it can also be made out of rye or another unsafe grain and...
