  1. I personally have not, but then again I don't drink a lot of coffee or soda. Caffeine is a known irritant to the GI lining though so it's not surprising.
  2. So I've just glutened myself for the second day in a row. I really don't understand it either - it's coming from some Blue Diamond Almonds which I've been eating the entire time I've been gluten free and haven't a single issue with them until now. Is it possible I've developed a sensitivity to them as well? I remember when I first started out they were...
  3. I noticed it was an ingredient in the GI Repair supplement my Naturopathic Doctor gave me. And to the skeptics out there, yes she is a real doctor, she went to a certified naturopathic medical school. Anyway I just spend the last half hour reading about it and it looks like it might speed up recovery time. Could be considered worth taking. Here are a few...

  5. Heartburn can also be due to low stomach acid - do you take any digestive enzymes?
  6. That's strange. Have you tried food based vitamins like New Chapter? They tend to be easier on the stomach and GI tract which I'm guessing is where your headaches are coming from. Is there also any possibility of some kind of vitamin overdose?
  7. My dad who doesn't fully understand the situation strongly believes that exercise can only help - I'm very skeptical about this as it usually makes me very tired or very energetic. Because of this I haven't really been able to get past that barrier and get in to a groove. Does anyone here regularly exercise? I think my biggest issue with exercise is that...
  8. I would say they definitely are. I usually don't get very emotional though, I just get very cranky and pissed off. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the diet or just the fact that I'm actually growing up, but I have noticed in general I have become a much more empathetic and emotional person. I literally never used to cry and I've lost it a...
  9. I have heard a good amount of people having success with the SCD. But the official word of it's efficacy is still out. The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America published "The Specific Carbohydrate Diet: Does It Work?",[13] in which several doctors say that there have been no clinical trials to prove or disprove efficacy, so no conclusions can yet...
  10. It could just be the stress of starting the new diet.
  11. I really couldn't agree more. I think SCD works for some people for a bunch of different reasons, but I think for most, it's not the answer. I really think we just don't understand enough about the GI tract and the human body yet.
  12. Thank you for sharing this info - looks like I might have to be a bit more patient
  13. It's pretty normal. I think I had IBS like symptoms and loose stools for the first couple months I initially went gluten-free. And don't worry about grossing anyone out on this forum, it's pretty hard to do
  14. I'm pretty sure I had those checked when they initially did all my bloodwork. But how would seeing those numbers help me one way or another? Don't they just register inflammation through out the body? Inflammation I'm pretty sure I am already experiencing. I really don't think I'd be able to follow something like, as of late I have been mixing...
  15. Why are you gluten-free, as a just in case?
  16. No it's just that your point was weak and contrived. What about the people that don't adapt well and can't live a normal life? What are the supposed to do? I'm fully aware of how bad other people have it - and call me what you will, but frankly I don't give a s$#& about them. I put myself first. Once I fix myself, then I can help take care of others. I...
  17. Haha I love arguing with theists. Something good happens, thank God. Something bad happens, oh well it's all part of his plan. Haha I think you got that backwards. Read the Bible, God killed over 2 million - the Devil killed 10
  18. Sounds like you might be taking too much/many. I would try to cut back a bit on the dosage until you seem to find the right balance.
  19. No offense taken I do see as a bit over alarmist, but it also seems to bring up some good points - the main that for a large portion of gluten-free people, eliminating gluten alone is not enough. That probably seems pretty obvious for most of us here, but I'm guessing it's a different story for the general population. If God really...
  20. I guess that's really my last option, another elimination diet. It's just going to be extremely difficult to do while at school. I might have to wait till summer
  21. Just wanted to share Open Original Shared Link. Frankly, I found it a little frightening and a bit of an eye opener as I was under the impression that a gluten-free diet should return a person to normal. I probably shouldn't of been so naive.
  22. Do you know if those would show up on normal bloodwork?
  23. I recently read: A small portion of patients with celiac disease continue to present symptoms of gastrointestinal distress even after beginning the diet, as a result of an ongoing mild degree of inflammation. from Open Original Shared Link published by the University of Chicago. Unfortunately I think I am in that small portion. So what the f*** do I do? ...
  24. Nope, but I'm currently going to school @ Elon
