  1. Yes - this is totally normal. But as always, it's good to rule out other things first. I don't know as much about parasites, but I think they could produce some very similar symptoms, depending on the type. The reason most Celiacs feel this way all the time is because they're not optimally absorbing all the calories they intake. Their small intestine,...
  2. Everyone's different so times vary. I noticed a big improvement within a couple of days. But to reach that 100% normalcy is taking me about 4 years (I estimate).
  3. I believe Lay's actually changed this - saying that a lot of their chip products are now gluten free. Although I still don't trust 'em - especially since they are most likely GMO potatoes. In response to the OP - I used to get heavily bloated (and still probably would if it weren't for glutamine) if I consumed a lot of fat. The majority of digestion...

It's really just not worth the risk of getting glutened. I just try not to make a big deal out of it and if they keep pushing the issue - just calmly explain the situation to them. Most people are totally unaware of how sensitive Celiacs are. And things will get easier over time - this I can tell you. Once you find a set of products in each food group...
  5. Your body can actually very strangely to going gluten-free. I actually slept a ton more when I first removed gluten. I am pretty certain that consuming it sets your body on high alert and it may at times seem like you have more energy - but in the long run, I think it just wears out your body quicker. It's not uncommon to be more tried when first going...
  6. This. I went through disabilities my sophomore year and they gave me a whole kitchen to work with.
  7. Amy's has never bothered me and I consider myself very sensitive. And to be honest, I find it hard to believe that Amy's products are making other people sick. I'm not saying that they aren't - I'm just saying I find it hard to believe that someone could be THAT sensitive. I n the end, you gotta do what works for you, so if makes you feel like poop...
  8. I was just about to ask if anyone has had any problems with the newly declared gluten-free products from Lay's. Some people suffer from an intolerance to foods containing gluten, which is a type of protein found in wheat, rye and barley. Frito-Lay has validated through analytical testing that the following products contain less than 20 ppm of gluten...
  9. Does anyone know if it is gluten free? I already saw the link on their website posted about allergies, but it makes no mention of gluten, only wheat. I also already emailed them a week ago - no response. Older forum topics have stated that ALMOST all their chocolate is produced on gluten-free lines with the exception of one item that had barely...
  10. It is my understanding the inflammation precedes villus damage. Everyone is different, but in general I think gluten sensitivity going unchecked will lead to Celiac Disease, among other things. Again, while it has already been pointed out that technically, gluten sensitivity and celiac disease are different disorders, the severity and seriousness of...
  11. As far as I am concerned gluten sensitivity and Celiac Disease are virtually the exact same thing. In Celiac, the small intestine becomes damaged. In gluten sensitivity, a different organ may become damaged or simply not enough damage has yet been done to the small intestine in order for you to be diagnosed Celiac. Healing times vary per individual depending...
  12. Just wanted to say, don't be too hard on yourself. You don't have to act confident if you're not. It's something new that you're not used to. Also, you could almost view having Celiac as a positive when it comes to dating - it'll weed out the jerks for you Hang in there
  13. The website says Our potato items are "gluten free". Does that mean that all their potato items that don't have gluten listed as an ingredient are gluten free? I have had the Sweet Potato fries with no issue but I think I might be having a reaction to the Russet Rosemary ones. Does anyone else have issues with Alexia?
  14. I would say that Mild Celiac Disease does not exist. However, I am tempted to say that Mild Gluten Sensitivity does - albeit, on a certain level. Consuming small amounts of gluten in a non-celiac gluten sensitive person might not trigger any noticeable symptoms. However, that is NOT to say that no damage is being done (internally). I would save your...
  15. I was frustrated for a while too - but eventually you realize how meaningless those diagnostic tests are. The ultimate test, when it comes to food, is really how you feel. That being said, it might be wise to rule out other possible disorders, a lot of times issues with gluten are accompanied by other diseases. I thought for a while that if I could just...
  16. I would say testing to see how you feel on a gluten-free diet is a great idea. BUT make sure you do your research, and ensure that you are still eating healthy and getting enough calories. So many people are non-celiac gluten sensitive these days that the tests for Celiac Disease have been useless. The only true test is to try out a gluten-free diet....
  17. I would not be worried - I believe it takes a lot longer than 6 weeks for your antibodies to go down. Wait at least six months - then if they're still high, that's when you can freak out.
  18. Ravenwood where have you been!? Geesh took you long enough to respond.. Haha just kiddinggg.. But I went to the Doc today and I think I'll be alright - I think it just needs to pass it's course, IDK why I was freaking out. But I appreciate the response - talk soon.
  19. I'm not sure how digestive enzymes would necessarily help heal your stomach.. they're more meant to provide less stress on the body's organs and to allow it to properly assimilate and utilize the macro and micro nutrients from food. I believe there are 3 different types of enzymes: 1. Plant work in the stomach, and in the small and large intestine...
  20. I think you'd be surprised (as I was) to discover how many restaurants now offer gluten-free menus. I would just simply do some research on the restaurants in your area, find out which ones offer gluten-free menus. And then let your friends choose from those restaurants. If they're worried about you getting sick, I doubt they'd mind at all.
  21. Things will only get better.
  22. I would lay off the coffee for a while - see if you notice an improvement. I believe it is an irritant to the GI tract. The "gluten-like" poisonings that you describe is most likely either cross contamination or lactose intolerance. You also have my vote for the Glutamine supplementation, but I would be very careful with it. Most of the studies have...
  23. Ok so I've been gluten-free for a year and a half and overall have been doing really well. But the other day, about 36 hours after taking 2 grams of L-Glutamine, I started to get a pounding headache, stomach ache, chills, and minor fever. I've also been really tired - although that's not really anything new. I'm positive no gluten has snuck in. But anyway...
  24. I think you will just pass them. I was taking an enzyme formula that had lactase in it, while still being dairy free, and did not notice any negative side effects.
  25. I take Acidophilus Pearls by Enzymatic Therapy. I have only tried 2 or 3 different probiotics and these seem to work the best. You might also want to consider taking a digestive enzyme supplement. I personally take Now Pancreatin.
