  1. Def get thyroid checked. Are you taking any digestive enzymes? And do you vitamins have iron? Anemia can be a big factor in fatigue/weakness.
  2. I am not. It's a TV sit-com. I strongly doubt many people take it seriously. It's not like it was a documentary on Celiac Disease spewing false information.
  3. Oh you expect everyone to be nice to everyone else? Ya that's not delusional or anything.. People being offended is not what stops any of those things. I guess I can kind of see what you guys are saying but you probably shouldn't be eating restaurants where the chefs are educated by sitcoms. In almost all the restaurants with actual...
  4. Will you guys relax? Seriously who cares - it's a TV show. It's not like someone close to you insulted you. Stephen Fry's thoughts on being offended - http://i.imgur.com/EX5v4.webp
  5. I feel ya - definitely get a new Doctor. And I would just try to explain to your Husband and Child how truly sensitive an individual can be to something. Some of my relatives thought I was nuts too when I tried to explain to them about cross-contamination. It's definitely a frustrating conversation because you don't want to be a jerk about it, but at the...
  6. Dairy has never really bothered me all that much. And I really don't consume that much of it - I eat cheese probably like once a week, and I don't think I can give that up haha - sometimes it really is like a drug. I'm not familiar with super sensitivity. And I have already self-diagnosed myself as gluten-intolerant so I am %100 gluten-free. I tested...
  7. Okay well just a bit of an update for you guys (that care). I had blood work done that looked for problems with my thyroid and everything came back normal. I am going to do a better job of taking my vitamins and mineral supplements. Hopefully that will make some kind of a difference.
  8. I've actually been thinking about taking it since my sleep problems still exist and have only gotten worse this semester since I have an 8 am class. The only thing that scares me about taking it is the fact that it's a hormone. And there have also been no long term studies determining its safety. At least when I am taking Glutamine I know that it's just...
  9. Stool? I know it sounds gross but that is a great indicator of health.
  10. What does your diet look like? How old are you? How much do you weigh? M/F? It will take a while for your absorption to get back where it should - so until then you might not be absorbing everything you're putting in your body.
  11. I apologize in advance because I know this has been asked a bunch of times. I'm also aware that everyone is different and there are many factors that one cannot even account for when trying to figure out how long it will take to fully recover. So if you wouldn't mind, just list: Age diagnosed Period of time gluten-free Estimated % of Full Recovery...
  12. eh - I think you guys might be overreacting a bit.
  13. I am grateful I am going to die. "We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Arabia. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater...
  14. Damn.. I was so hoping that you're story was going to end with "And Gastroguy said I had completely healed and that he could detect no signs of Celiac Disease." Ahh another life I suppose.
  15. This might sound gross but what do her stools look like? A good indicator of a person's digestion/absorption is in their stools. Nausea for me is almost always caused by unabsorbed/undigested fat which is very noticeable after I.. ya know. Also do the doctors have any idea why she has gastric dumping syndrome? Did she have some kind of GI surgery done...
  16. Ya know I do remember feeling the best mentally when I was loading up on vitamins, but it was so long ago it's hard to remember if that was because I had finally found out what was wrong with me or because of the actual vitamins. I eat fairly healthy for a college student - lots of healthy fats, lean meats, and whole grains. My only downfall would be too...
  17. I can totally relate to this. The person I am now, sometimes I don't even recognize myself. When describing the transformation to other people, ie family members, I usually say that now I have the potential to be my "best self" and before I was 80% of the time my worst self. I just don't like to say that I am changed man, because I am not, but in many ways...
  18. Thanks for posting. I really don't think my thyroid is messed up but I didn't really think I was sensitive to gluten either. Anyway I'm at college right now but thankfully the health center here does Thyroid Testing - which I am having done tomorrow. Do you really think it could be thyroid when my only real symptoms are that of depression and fatigue?...
  19. Haha whoops - ya that was just a typo on my part - I've been 100% gluten-free for almost 3 years now, with a few slip ups here and there. I'm fairly certain that no gluten is getting in, it's very obvious to me when I accidently consume gluten. I don't really think grain free would me all that much. I remember trying the SCD for a while and it didn't seem...
  20. I'm actually an atheist, so religion is kind out of the question. But appreciate the suggestion and I'm glad it works for someone If only most people understood this. I have been to the doctor, all my tests have come back normal. I honestly think part of it is due to the fact that I am still not absorbing fats completely, so excess digested...
  21. My mood really goes up and down. Almost bipolar-ish. I am pretty sure I had my thyroid checked at the beginning when this all started. Is it routine to have it done during a physical?
  22. Thank you for sharing - even though I wish no one else was going through the same thing I am - it's comforting to know that I am not alone.
  23. Could you elaborate a bit on the question? Are you implying that we don't need as much as other people?
  24. I've been a member of this site for quite some time and I have to say I was quite optimistic at first. But after being almost gluten-free for almost 3 years, sometimes I just wanna give up. I still cannot function like a normal person, I'm in school by the way, so my life can be stressful at times. I still don't have the energy I want, or the mental clarity...
  25. I think part of that is also stress related and what mental state you're in when you're eating. Most people don't realize how much our minds effects our digestive tracts. Although I probably shouldn't have to tell that to anyone here! I know sometimes I forget this fact though.
