  1. Unfortunately not a lot of research has been done on glutamine and a lot of what is listed about it, regarding the dangers, is mostly theoretical. I personally have been taking it for about 2-3 years and it has definitely helped a ton. That being said, it hasn't been without some potentially serious side effects. The biggest danger for me was when I would...
  2. Thanks for posting! I've been gluten-free for 3 years and recently I've had to go back to the drawing board. This seems like a great resource period.
  3. It seems like this is pretty common Open Original Shared Link
  4. Preferably in the Raleigh-Durham/Greensboro/Winston-Salem area
  5. This is going to vary greatly depending on the person. But I feel significantly s$#&ty for about 36 - 48 hours. And return to 100% normalcy after about a week
  6. It can be tough to deal with stuff like this calmly and rationally when it hits so close to home. I would just try to calmly and rationally explain to them that your reactions to gluten are in fact life threatening and that it's never good to down play this kind of disorder since different people can have totally different reactions. Just take...
  7. Woah - So I finally just finished responding to all the posts I had something to say in return. And I did read them ALL. First off, I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone for their support and advice, even if I did disagree with it. It really does mean a lot to me. I don't frequent this site much anymore but when I do the community has been nothing...
  8. I will definitely keep trying other types of alcohol. Maybe it is just the grain alcohols that bother me. And lol
  9. Definitely am I am not looking to alcohol to self-medicate. I am looking to alcohol to become more social. I think some forget that alcohol is a huge social thing, especially at college. Had my thyroid checked a couple of months ago, everything was within normal range, except for Iron levels, but I even started taking a supplement for...
  10. My friends actually really don't care that much whether or not I drink
  11. I don't want to get plastered - just enough to take the edge off of things. And mainly to fit in. Not looking for moral advice here - I'm also not looking to take advantage of anyone either. I also don't want a relationship at this point in my life - if I wanted one of those I would of already had one. It was fun the first couple...
  12. I've had my ups and downs just like everyone here but things have gotten a lot worse recently and they don't seem to be getting any better. I have been gluten-free for about 3 years and I just removed dairy again as well because I noticed a significant improvement in mood and energy level. At this point I am really frustrated. I'm 21 and in college right...
  13. That's so awesome! Gotta appreciate the little things
  14. Enzymes, probiotics, and vitamins. But I wouldn't really be doing this - it already seems pretty evident that gluten is causing you problems.
  15. What symptoms were you experiencing before? And how long were you gluten-free for before going grain-free?
  16. I second what other people have been saying - it's probably due to a nutritional deficiency. I have been more diligent about taking my vitamins, along with glutamine. Make sure you're taking: A good multi-vitamin B-complex Sublingual B12 Iron Additional D3 My Iron was actually a little low and I think that's actually been making a pretty difference...
  17. Venting is always good - whenever I'm feeling down I always come to this site and usually cheers me right up. Just knowing that you're not alone is always helpful - and quite easy to forget. People are insensitive simply because of the fact that they don't take the time to put themselves in your shoes. That along with ignorance are two of humanity's biggest...
  18. This is a great attitude to have. If I may just offer some advice, there is quite a bit of information out there, so absorb as much information as you can, but don't necessarily swallow anything whole. Celiac and gluten sensitivity are such new disorders (in terms of awareness) that very little is actually known about them. And just remember to go easy...
  19. No other foods really seem to bother me. Dairy is still a little tough on my GI tract but I doubt the occasional piece of cheese is affecting me. I think my main issue is actually more mental than anything else - and that in turn is affecting my physical life, ie. depression making me more tired. I actually just started seeing a counselor because I am...
  20. I can definitely attest to this. Been gluten-free almost 3 years. I'm 21 btw and I can't drink - kinda sucks
  21. one words - enzymes. Without digestive enzymes supplements I would not be able to function. More reliable than probiotics too, at least ime
  22. It's a little scary how much you sound like me. I'm having the same exact issues and people were suggesting that it might have been my thyroid but all tests came back normal except my iron was low. I've started taking iron supplements and i can't tell yet if they're working or it's just placebo effect. For me mild brain fog is not CC. Severe brain fog...
  23. My guess would be yes. But it's probably quite rare and I'm sure it depends on a lot of factors. I think being diagnosed at a younger age is obviously a big deal - along with the level of damage that has been done.
  24. Sorry that wasn't very clear but by "Haters gonna hate" I just meant that other people are always going to make fun of other people - No matter how stupid/insensitive the jokes are.
  25. I think people are forgetting - jokes are meant to have one purpose - to be funny.
