  1. I have eaten it a bunch of times in the past and consider myself fairly sensitive. So you're ok.
  2. 19 - from MA. I have to say I know how all you guys feel. But I think eventually, I just realized - that we are ALL actually alone. I know that sounds kind of depressing, but it's true. And it certainly does not have to be depressing. After I accepted that, I was actually happier than before I had come to that realization. By becoming more independent...
  3. I also wonder if it is perhaps just something else? Most of them are pretty high in fiber. A lot of them contain soy and dairy as well. Because I am usually very sensitive and have never reacted to any of their meals. But the high fiber does sometimes bother me.
  4. I guess I'll consider myself one of the lucky ones. I have never had a problem with any of Amy's products. I do only eat the gluten-free and non-dairy ones, maybe that has something to do with it?
  5. Any yogurt, fermented, or cultured food contains probiotics. Just make sure it says "Contains live active cultures." Remember too much of anything is bad for you. I have heard it is nearly impossible to overdose from probiotics with any serious side effects. That is not to say that you won't experience any abdominal discomfort with too many. But they are...
  6. Flare ups are pretty common for the first couple of months, but things will only continue to get better. Make sure he takes the time to thoroughly chew his food, this is one of the most simple and most effect ways to improve digestion and speed up healing. I cannot stress this enough. It is especially important if he is eating high fiber foods, which it sounds...
  7. You are describing exactly what I went through last night. I believe it is more a complication of leaky gut syndrome, which is actually a very common result of gluten intolerance/sensitivity. Soluble fiber has been shown to increase intestinal permeability, whereas insoluble fiber decreases permeability. If you can, try to load up on insoluble fiber,...
  8. Sleeping for 30 plus hours is pretty intense. I can tell you when I get glutened it does feel like I temporarily narcolepsy. I fall asleep within an hour and not by choice. I usually have to get at least an extra 4 hours of sleep. Haha but I've never slept through a whole day, that's impressive!
  9. This one is very interesting: https://www.celiac.com/articles/21758/1/Glu...sion/Page1.html It talks about anxiety and depression.
  10. ... according to some studies only between 6.5 hours and 8 hours. Open Original Shared Link One of the reasons I like to publicize these facts is that I think we can prevent a lot of insomnia and distress just by telling people that short sleep is O.K. We've all been told you ought to sleep 8 hr., but there was never any evidence. A very common problem...

    ARCHIVED Insomnia

I never thought about this until reading this article: Open Original Shared Link Maybe sleeping just a little too much is throwing is off.
  12. Burping can be caused by a slew of different things and most of the time, gas it common. Some benign causes include: swallowing air while eating or drinking, fiber can also gas due to the fermentation of bacteria - especially prebiotic fiber such as the kind found in bananas and oats. Eating too fast, chewing gum, and probiotics will also usually results...
  13. Has anyone else experienced this? I've had it on and off since going gluten-free and never bothered to ask about.
  14. How long have you been gluten-free for? Alcohol is a known irritant to the GI lining. It is believed that many alcoholics are at an increased risk for developing leaky gut syndrome for this reason.
  15. It's good that other large companies are hopping on the gluten-free bandwagon. Would be nice if they could put out some certified gluten-free products with oats though.
  16. I also just wanted to add, if you haven't already seen the topic I posted, Valerian root has worked wonders for me and is much safer than Melatonin, imo. I only say this because Melatonin is in fact a hormone and there have yet to be any long term studies on its safety. Anyway, has anyone elses condition improved since posting? Mine seems to have gotten...
  17. I would be worried about the child with chronic constipation and the one with the tummy aches. I agree with Ravenwood, regardless of what the tests say, why not try out the whole house-hold on a gluten-free diet and see if you notice a difference?
  18. That's awesome! Where is your Target?
  19. Judging by a quick google search, I would say the hot chocolate is safe. I'm cuddled into the couch, under lots of blankets, drinking Swiss Miss No Sugar Added Hot Cocoa Mix. Which is gluten free. Open Original Shared Link And someone I guess posted a similar question about this on the this website. Swiss Miss is a Con Agra company, and they...
  20. Most modified food starch in the U.S. is made from corn. If it is made from wheat, it has to be listed, by law. Daisy sour cream is in fact gluten-free. I found it on their website: Is Daisy Brand Sour Cream gluten-free? Yes, Daisy Sour Cream is gluten-free. Our Daisy Brand Regular and Daisy Brand Light Sour Cream products contain no starch. Open...
  21. No, amino acids such as Glutamine or Tryptophan are not the same as digestive enzymes. Digestive enzymes break down food and are produced in our mouth, stomach, pancreas, and gallbladder. Most Celiacs or Gluten Intolerant people develop these enzyme deficiencies due to malnourishment, that is why supplementation is often necessary. Like Mushroom said...
  22. Yes, as Mushroom, it is very normal. I have been gluten-free for almost a year and still get extremely hungry sometimes. You could try taking some digestive enzymes, that should help with the "sick" feeling.
  23. It really depends on what foods you have the most trouble digesting. I have found Source Naturals' Daily Essential Enzymes to be the best bang for you buck. Another really good one is Now's High Potency Pancreatin. The Pancreatin is really good because any extra enzymes that do not get used get cycled through the blood stream and will be used for your next...
  24. After two days I noticed a HUGE difference. But as you said everyone is different. I know some people that did not see any improvements for two months. Have you considered another food intolerance, such as diary?
  25. I'm afraid I can't recommend one that I would consider very good, but I can recommend one that is a definite bargain. Trader Joe's has one called Natural Papaya & Pineapple Enzymes, it is their own brand and actually works decently at breaking down carbs and protein. It's only $ 2.49 a bottle and at that price, it is a steal. They are all natural, chewable...
