  1. Mother's Day is this coming Sunday -- shall I send a memo to your kids It's hard to miss Cinco de Mayo this close to the border -- the college crowd and older folks start partying about the 2nd or 3rd and stop on about the 7th! I actually warned my new drivers of major holidays and using extra caution for drunk drivers and yep, include the 5th of May...
  2. ¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo! Carne Asada Tacos (perhap Adobado Tacos) and hub's Refried Beans from scratch tonight -- hmm -- I think I'll make the hubs a fresh Margarita when he gets home this evening! Funny, never heard of that whole Fourth of May nonsense before this past week and it went viral!! Was fun and the hubs had a great idea -- we watched 'New ...
  3. I use Betty Crockers and add a cup of choc chips...everyone always raves -- so simple
  4. me neither...if I knew it...I forgot it...we aren't nerds here at all
  5. Still no cookies here either - boo! They are next up with Addie's new flour. Had to make brownies for to deliver to my pal -- for a house warming -- easier to make two pans so Star Wars Day went brownie -- the mate was pretty "Home Sweet Home" in teals and blues -- her favorite colors -- she was wearing a matching shirt when I arrived
  6. It's cooling here - Yay! Turkey Meatloaf Mashed Purple Sweet Potatoes French Green Beans -- what the hell are they called? and Star Wars Day Quadruple Fudge Brownies:
  7. I had a wonderful time yesterday at the San Diego Gluten Free Party hosted by Living Without. This was by far the best gluten-free fair I've been to -- the freebies were fantastic -- the cooking demos were great (I learned at least a couple new baking tricks and I've been at this gluten-free baking game for awhile now) -- I couldn't partake of the oodles...
  8. This is wonderful! Way to go Boys and their proud Peeps
  9. Ya, so...the ER is not the proper place for celiac testing. Follow up with your primary...you have a clear list of tests needed. For now, eat a grilled cheese sandwich every day until testing is complete. And...tomorrow...rest with as much water as you can drink
  10. Just re-read the thread. To answer your question regarding what the antibody tests I listed will indicate: tTG - IgA and IgG: Indicate damage to the small intestine -- these tests are not specific to celiac, but are highly indicative. EMA-IgA -- reflects endomysial damage to the small intestine -- layman terms -- slam dunk for celiac. DGP -...
  11. I'll stay on this thread for about an hour....ER docs want to help...but not a great place to diagnose an autoimmune disease.
  12. For the celiac antibody tests to be MOST accurate...one should not reduce gluten consumption. For your circumstance...run these tests now: Total Serum IgA tTG - IgA tTG - IgG EMA - IgA DGP - IgA DGP - IgG
  13. Welcome G-Guy! I'm tired so forgive me if I get your timeline wrong. You removed gluten this past week (to the best of your knowledge) and tonight ate gluten-heavy and feel like crap. If I sped-read this correctly - here is what you should do. - Drink lots of water. - Eat one slice of glutenous bread each day until you have the complete celiac...
  14. me too...ugh...and not just morning...7/24 for five months...then I felt great!
  15. Dinner date was beyond special....I didn't order much but the glass of Pinot Noir...but my Hubs deserves many more meals out on the town and that is where we are headed....so glad I am starting to get some wonderful foods back...before long I'll be joining in One last observation from the gluten-free Party today. I'm tired so I'll cut and past from...
  16. No apologies needed...this is a very valid concern. The answer to your question is no. Everyone's reaction is slightly different and each individual's reactions can change over time or depending on type of exposure. There are simply no set rules. If you think or know you've accidentally encountered gluten....digestive enzymes, activated charcoal...
  17. If you buy your ticket online there is a 10% off code. GFFPC1 Oh...added bonus both Bards and New Planet are pouring
  18. Hello from the 'Gluten Free and More' coming out party. I've been to quite a few gluten-free fairs over the past several years and I gotta say this is by far the best yet. Interesting cooking demos thus far and the freebies are much more varied....most of these deals are heavy on the gluten-free baked goods and it seems the organizers attempted to...
  19. Many things will improve gluten-free -- it simply takes time. It often feels like a dance two steps forward, one step back -- but overall you are improving. Like NatureChick, I believe acknowledging the victories -- small and large -- along with being prepared to handle the setbacks is important.
  20. Will do! Just checked the schedule -- the 'party' doesn't get started until 10am! I have two hours and everyone thinks I am busy -- this is a very good thing Will check in later Re: the party details. Dinner tonight -- I'm taking Hubs out to the Brigantine for some seafood. Been a long while since I've been able to get out in the evening -...
  21. Forgot...didn't get to see Spiderman...cuz the two youngest men went to a late night show last night as I slept No worries...early morning (cheap) date planned with hubs one day soon Dinner tonight...ran to get a natural/ish remedy for the pool's chemistry and ran into a huge boneless ribeye with a 50% of sticker...had to be eaten today...so the...
  22. Cheers from Ski's Cool Zone -- lol the picture I took of son grimacing because I made him bring the camera is better -- none the less... Cheers! edited: hmmm...picture is MIA...must be operator error...Pinot's to blame...will try again later. off to float some more
  23. For me, the damage caused by Celiac Disease will likely never be completely remedied -- but in many ways I am better than ever before in my life. My bones have replaced themselves these past five years with strong healthy bones -- no more premature osteoporosis. My tendons and ligaments are all functioning much better -- used to have knees that...
  24. I do believe I need to learn to make pasta -- added bonus -- stress reliever Wow...you got a new deep fryer
