  1. Yes it does. It can take a lot of time though. Much of my presentation is neurological, CNS, and psychological as well. Anxiety, panic attacks, extreme irritability, peripheral neuropathy, insomnia, depression, brain fog that interferes with my reasoning and analytical ability. However one thing I'm learning is that a number of people who present symptoms...
  2. Here is another tip we use - go to your local butcher and get lots of fresh pork, chicken, beef (whatever is on sale) and spend a Saturday at the barbecue! The after you BBQ them, cut them up into portion sized pieces, date them, doublewrap them, and put them in the freezer. Cooked fish doesn't really freeze well though. One reason I say your local butcher...
  3. I just received back all my lab work for my hormone workups and I am suffering from moderate to severe adrenal fatigue. So I'm researching adrenal supplements right now. I'm a believer in non-western, traditional, and alternative medicine (acupuncture, etc), but before you go trying to treat adrenal issues I would strongly suggest you get a lab workup for...
  4. Hi Meggie, The anti-gliadin IgA blood test is notoriously inconclusive. My Dr. said she has never seen a positive, even from some people who were later confirmed and diagnosed via biopsy. My Dad's blood work was completely negative the first time, and very similar to yours the second time, and my blood work was completely negative. However we have both...
  5. My heart palpitations and tachycardia are directly tied to a combination of a soy allergy which developed secondary to presentation of celiac disease symptoms and the actual reaction I have to gluten itself. The very last cardiac test I had done (prior to my celiac disease diagnosis) was another full stress test with the dye injection and gamma radiation...
  6. Zinc, Calcium, and Vitamin D are all critical for metabolism of Magnesium, especially Calcium. Try a combined supplement.
  7. Hmm....have you checked with your Dr? That is a hard question to answer because I'm not a doctor, and I know nothing about your medical history. From my personal response and experience, if I had to pick between one or the other, I would go with the probiotics. But others (like mushroom) might choose differently. Perhaps you could start with one, then switch...
  8. Also take a look at this thread: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=61774
  9. Have you had your various vitamin and nutrient levels checked? D, A, E, B, Iron, Thyroid, etc?
  10. Wow! Thank you. I will be looking into that some more. Have you read the 'GAPS' diet book? It is fascinating. Open Original Shared Link - She specalizes in dietary issues relating to various psychological/neurological issues.
  11. Hi Sylvia - I missed this response somehow. I can eat the gluten-free flours, but we prepare our own bread. I don't have a problem with DeBoles Rice Pasta, or Tinkyada or Mrs. Leepers, but I have had issues with some of the other brands. I found out by the way that cornstarch makes me violently throw up! I have found it virtually impossible to find any kind...
  12. I cannot even have tea that has barley grass in it. While the gluten content may be 'lower' it still has gluten. Gluten is not only found in the seed.
  13. George, have you replace wheat/dairy with soy? Soy actually turned out to be the primary trigger for my panic attacks and anxiety. And we have tested it (inadvertantly) several times with blind ingestion of hidden soy. Soy triggers several neurological, psychological and CNS issues for me.
  14. Hi Rudi, Please see my post(s) here: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=61726 as I just finished kinda outlining for someone else somewhat how my daily diet goes including some meal preparation ideas. I cannot eat dairy, soy, or gluten, in any form (and soy seems to be in everything that gluten isn't in), and I react very badly to...
  15. Yes, I've read HG2G. All five books in the trilogy Well the problem with sauteing with any vegetable oil is that when they are heated they break down into trans-saturated fats which are hard on your system. Very little of the cholesterol in the animal fat is actually absorbed into your system when sauteing with them. Most of the cholesterol in our body is...
  16. 1) Yes. They were also recommended by my GI dr. There are several things here that you have to realize which is that many of the 'symptoms' may be related to malabsorption issues for various nutrients. One thing the probiotics do is begin to help restore the proper bacterial balance in your digestive systems. The bacteria in your gut are what actually turn...
  17. Yes and no. It is not that the gluten is absorbed by the plastic, but that it is trapped in the (invisible) scratches and pits. This is why you are recommended to either replace or get a second set, also of any non-stick pans, skillets, pots, cookie sheets, baking stones, and nylon, plastic, or wood cooking utensils. CC (Cross-contaminiation) is a real...
  18. My soy reaction is worse and more immediate than my gluten reaction. For me soy even small amounts of soy trigger within about an hour stomach cramps, then within 3-4 hours anxiety and insomnia, and hot flashes. Larger amounts of soy trigger moderate myoclonus and panic attacks in addition. It takes me about 1 to 2 weeks to recover from soy reaction. The...
  19. I think you might be missing something here. If you have celiac, you need to cut it (gluten) ALL out. There isn't really an acceptable amount. There is a degree of sensitivity that some people have to cross-contamination. I am super sensitive for example. I seem to react to products that are produced in the same facility or on the same production line even...
  20. No, my Dr. did not test me for that. The casein turned up through my Enterolab test (which I self ordered) and showed anti-bodies for the Casein protein as well as gluten, and the soy came up through an elimination diet and through various symptomatic reactions to getting soy in my diet. It takes me about two weeks to recover from even the smallest amount...
  21. Hi greenpea! Welcome and blessings on your efforts. I'm also highly (violently) reactive to dairy (Casein protein - ironically I'm not lactose intolerant), soy, and refined corn (corn starch, corn syrup), as well as have celiac disease. Raw/whole corn or stone ground corn are ok now. I have some suggestions based on my experiences since April of this...
  22. Raven posted a good response, but I also wanted to mention to you that some of the nightshades also have the same effect on me as far as RLS and myoclonus. Potatoes in small amounts don't seem to affect me, but peppers (bell, chili, etc), any amount of eggplant, lots of tomatoes or potatoes (or small amounts two days in a row) do bother me a lot. Google ...
  23. Hi valt, You mentioned in another response that you tested negative for lactose intolerance. I too am not lactose intolerant, but I AM intolerant of casein - the protein in cow's milk! That was one of the major ongoing issues that continued after I went gluten-free. The other big one turned out to be soy. But also, just to reassure you (I hope), it does...
  24. Hi KK, You didn't list what country you live in, so you might want to mention that since that will affect certain answers you get. Distilled vinegar is ok. That is the first I've heard about Canola oil though. Modified food starch can be questionable. Ice cream, and mustard are also questionable. There are several safe food and ingredient lists, but this...
