  1. I just made the EASIEST bbq sauce ever and it's delicious!! A little ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and a few dashes of Tabasco sauce if you like a bit of spice.
  2. Eggs are fantastic!
  3. Hi Sam, I found when I first went gluten-free I was ravenous all the time and very weak and fatigued. Part of that was due to vitamin deficiency as a result of malabsorption, but there is also a lot of discussion on this forum about gluten-withdrawal. I found my work-outs (especially playing hockey and soccer) took a LOT out of me, a lot more than...
  4. We recently had a conversation about this, and you're not alone The best recovery drink is actually 1% chocolate milk! It is high in calories, carbs, protein, and fat, and because it's liquid, it gets to your system faster. Hope that helps
  5. Many celiacs have one or more vitamin deficiencies due to absorbency issues -- definitely get a work-up by your doc! I didn't have too much trouble with my iron supplements -- you just start with a very low dose and slowly work your way up, then take it at that level for a very long time (minimum 6 months). Once your iron is healthy, you can go back...
  6. Hi Mason, When I first when gluten-free, I had the same experience. I play very competitive hockey & soccer and was tiring out faster than I had previously. It's hard to pin-point the exact cause, but I found two possibilities: I wasn't getting enough "good" fats(Monounsaturated fats) before and after workouts (i.e. avacado, fish), and I was experiencing...
  7. Going back for another visit and found this in my research Open Original Shared Link
  8. I don't see the Werther's Chocolate Crunch on this site to find the ingredients. I got little Werther's Chocolate Crunch in a cracker at Xmas dinner and am wondering if they're safe to eat. They don't have the ingredients on the wrapper and I can't seem to find them online! Anyone have up-to-date info on this? Thanks Jillian P.S. -- if it...

  12. For white chocolate lovers, the white chocolate Toblerones are gluten-free I love those, as well as Reese's Peanut Butter Cups! For mini chocolates (i.e. hallowe'en size candies), they are on a line that is not cleaned between processes, so they may contain wheat. Apparently the lines for the regular and large sized candies are cleaned between each...
  13. My favourite treat at this time of year is the Lindor white chocolate balls, but they have barley malt extract Can anyone suggest similar, delicious alternatives? Thanks
  14. Does anyone know if Polyride FE is gluten-free? I can't find any information on their website, and it's Sunday, so I don't imagine I'd have much luck giving them a call. Thanks It's a Canadian product (made in Mississauga), so my Canadian celiac friends may be more familiar with this product! Thanks, Jillian
  15. Congrats!! My moral/emotional victory was this summer when my husband and I did a road trip to B.C. We went camping and hiked 2-3 hours every day. I was grinning like a fool the entire time and said to my husband that a year ago there was no way I'd be able to do that, I would have been exhausted after 20 minutes. We were both so happy for me! lol
  16. If they're transporting & cooking food like pastas, Tinkyada is a great alternative. It's a whole-grain rice pasta and it doesn't get soggy like some rice pastas Open Original Shared Link

  22. Anyone know if this information is still correct? I have NeoCitran Cold & Flu (the lemon powder that comes in pouches). I have bronchitis and would like to drink a hot lemon NeoCitran to sooth my poor throat and help me sleep. I can't seem to find any information online either! The ingredients seem fine, but I'm always extra cautious when trying...
  23. A delicious dairy-free alternative is sorbet... The really good stuff is Hagen Daz, I love the mango or raspberry flavours. Also want to mention that the info I found/posted is Canadian and the ingredients are sometimes different for the U.S.!
  24. I think I found the answer to my own question... Open Original Shared Link "If our ingredients contain even trace amounts of peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, milk, eggs, fish, soy, sulfites or wheat (and ingredients that may contain gluten), it will be stated on the label." !
  25. I can't find the Breyer's gluten-free listing... Does anyone know if the Reese Peanut Butter Cup ice cream is gluten-free? Open Original Shared Link It has modified corn starch and modified milk ingredients and I never know what that means... Thanks! Jillian
