  1. That's just too funny...never thought I would see an article like that...but hey I like it
  2. Coke is ok...that is the Coke brand is ok. I'm not sure about off brands but alot of sodas are gluten-free. In fact under the product section celiac3270 put out a whole bunch of drinks from some companies that are gluten-free. That may be of help to you. When you first start on the diet there are many things gluten is hidden under that you may not realize...
  3. Yes rules are different here and Maltodextrin must be made from corn or potato. Surprises me though I would have thought Canada would at least be similar with that. Thanks for the info.
  4. I guess another thing to do is look and see where it was made. If it was made in the US it's safe otherwise it may or may not be safe.
  5. On many sites it says that Citric Acid is in fact safe at least in the US. This is from a site I went to: When citric acid is made in the United States, it is made from sugar cane, sugar beets or corn; however, when it is produced in China, it may be made from wheat. I'm not sure about other countries because it did not say but I know in the US it...
  6. Have you already had a blood test done that came back positive ? In order to get a blood test positive for celiac disease you have to be ON gluten for a while otherwise it will come back negative if you have been gluten-free.
  7. Here are some gluten free medication lists. There are more in depth ones you can get and alot of sites have ones like the ones below. If you do not see the drug on the list then your best bet is to call the manufacturer. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  8. Ruth UK-That makes sense for wanting the biopsy done. With the positive blood tests even if the biopsy comes back negative I would still strictly follow the diet or get it checked further just because if it is celiac and you have frequent "mistakes" then you would be putting yourself at risk for further more serious problems. I would not x celiac off if it...
  9. RuthUK-I am only diagnosed through blood tests. The blood tests were so highly positive that I didn't need a biopsy to get an official diagnosis. I was told by my GI doc. that because my celiac was just triggered only about a year prior to the +blood tests that the biopsy would come back negative anyway due to lack of damage. Some people on here have had...
  10. Yep those that celiac3270 said are the ones that are made on a dedicated gluten-free line
  11. yes if you are gluten free before testing it can make the test come back negative. Some celiacs can't tolerate lactose due to the damage to the small intestine. I was lactose intolerant on and off my whole life and when I went gluten free I have no problem now. Some people just have other intolerances besides gluten though. Do you feel the need to be...
  12. All of my symptoms started around the time I had mono. About a year after being diagnosed with mono I was then diagnosed with celiac. They kept telling me that mono lasted a long time and needed to run its course but I never got better till going gluten free. There are over 200 symptoms that can come with celiac and some people may or may not have symtpoms...
  13. Yeah even though the nuggets may have a separate fryer they are breaded so are not gluten-free.

Everyone is different here and we have all had different experiences. Some people have had different symptoms then others to. Why are you attacking us? We are here to try to help as much as we can. Your doctor doesn't seem to have been much help. Many doctors don't take celiac very seriously and many don't know alot about it. I switched doctors a few times...
  15. I don't avoid dairy. As long as it is gluten free I can have it. Alot of celiacs can have dairy. People with celiac can have lactose intolerance which I used to have. This happens because of the damage done to the villi. When they are healed by going gluten free that usually clears up. I no longer have a problem with it since going gluten free. When...
  16. Yeah we ordered Kinnikinnick donuts and muffins a while ago and they tasted so good we ate all of it within a week. Foods By George your right is a bit on the high side but I love the english muffins. I also have them just about every morning for breakfast and really enjoy them. My dad tried them and he loved them and he is not even a celiac. I'll...
  17. Yes my body temp is usually between 97-98. I also can get cold pretty easy. I was told it is probably due to my thyroid being off.
  18. Yes I forgot about that brand...Kinnikinnick is an awesome brand that tastes incredibly good.
  19. There are some good english muffins that come in plain and cinnamon made by Foods by George. They taste really good toasted especially. This is their website where you can find more information: Open Original Shared Link Also EnerG has some good gluten-free bread too but my personal favorite is Foods by George.
  20. Well sure it can cause a problem.Things like lotion, soaps, shampoos, and makeup can accidentally be ingested in small amounts. Think about it when you put lotion containing gluten on your hands and then prepare food then traces are now on your food when you eat it. I had a bad reaction to lip balm a while ago. I thought it was ok then come to find out the...
  21. 1.A medical diagnosis can be good and bad. Insurance makes it bad but tax deduction makes it good. 2. It is so important to follow the diet 100%. Everyone has mistakes sometimes but if you are not following the diet you will most likely get other compications later. 3. GI doctor I agree is the best. 4. I have heard of a lot of insurance problems...
  22. They usually say 3 months being on gluten to get positive results but everyone is different and some people go in a shorter amount of time and you must eat a lot of gluten during the time. I had to switch doctors a few times to get someone to listen. Sounds to me like you need a new doctor. Does your doctor really know about celiac? If you know you feel...
  23. Yes there are four brands of Frito Lays that are on dedicated lines so if you have a reaction to those it would not be a gluten one. I have never even had a problem with their chips that have the risk for cross contamination. I also haven't had damage to my intestines or symptoms(and I am very sensitive) from them either so I am also not worried about that...
  24. oops I was a few minutes late well at least we have double confirmation.
  25. Daisy sour cream is gluten free.
