ARCHIVED Cross Contamination
KaitiUSA replied to HeatherMelissa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well I personally react to every bit of gluten that ever gets in me. I eat products that are on gluten free lists from companies or say that they are in fact gluten-free on the label. I have known people to react to things that are even made on a dedicated gluten-free line(which makes me think it may be something else) but everybody is different. Some people... -
ARCHIVED Help! I Screwed Up My Life.
KaitiUSA replied to jsbs11's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I also have candida of the small intestine and I am on Nystatin for it. Brown rice and white rice are fine for celiacs. Millet and Psyllium are ok as well. Probiotics are very important and would highly recommend them if you are not on them. Probiotic bacteria favorably alter the intestinal microflora balance, inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria... -

ARCHIVED Red Bob's Mill Flour Reaction
KaitiUSA replied to Lesliean's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes it does get easier so hang in there Bob's Red Mill's gluten free products are made in a gluten free facility as Jessica stated. If it says gluten free it was done in that facility. I have never reacted to this brand and find this brand very good. -
ARCHIVED Gf Drinks
KaitiUSA replied to parkerrmmc's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes it was so overwhelming to me at first. I had so many accidents too because things I thought were gluten free were not. I didn't realize how many things could have gluten hidden in them. It really does get easier so hang in there -
ARCHIVED Gf Drinks
KaitiUSA replied to parkerrmmc's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This is a response I got to Tropicana. Not all of their orange juices are gluten-free. Thank you for visiting the Tropicana Website. We recognize that it is important to provide consumers with information so that they can make informed choices about the products they purchase. We are currently in the process of evaluating all of our products for the... -
That is a sad response. They just avoided the question altogether.

ARCHIVED Could This Be Celiac?
KaitiUSA replied to JenniS's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My main symptom with celiac was nausea. What you are describing does sound like celiac. It is definately worth getting tested for. Some doctors just don't know much about it and it is commonly misdiagnosed for IBS and things similar to that. Open Original Shared Link If you need help looking for a doctor this link may help you. It is this sites... -

ARCHIVED Pediatric Gi Doctor In Lexington Or Louisville,ky
KaitiUSA replied to parkerrmmc's topic in Doctors
I would recommend having a GI doctor who is knowledgable in celiac. If you wanted to keep the appt. I would call the GI doctor you are meeting with and ask if he knows alot about celiac. There should be more doctors that know about celiac but alot of doctors really don't have the knowledge and understanding of it. There are quite a few good ones out there... -
ARCHIVED Diagnosis
KaitiUSA replied to parkerrmmc's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have heard completely different stats. I have heard if they both are positive chances are close to 95-98%. I had my IgG positive and my IgA negative but my tTG was positive. I was told that the tTG test are better for testing for celiac. But they were convinced I had celiac even when I had my first blood test done where only my IgG tested positive(before... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Friendly Companies
KaitiUSA replied to parkerrmmc's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Betty Crocker is because it is made by General Mills. All of General Mills products do not hide anything either. Hersheys, Kraft, Nestle,Nabisco,Russell Stover,Breyers,Klondike,Popsicle, and Good Humor won't hide anything either. If you go to Edy's website they have a list of gluten free products. Frito Lay also has a list you can request and 3 of their products... -
Yes not everything with MFS had gluten. Just call the manufacturer. Kraft products as you alreayd know by not list wheat, rye, barley, oats right on the label if they contain it. I bring my cell in the store and call about products all the time that I don't know about. I'm sure there are alot of options for you that are gluten-free.

KaitiUSA replied to junevarn's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I get the anxiety part with the shortness of breath whenever I am glutened. They always told me to breathe into a paper bag because the shortness of breath leads to my anxiety starting because I can't breath right. Anyways I have never had a reaction like that. Have you talked with your doctor about it? When you get a gluten reaction do you normally vomit... -

ARCHIVED Hemorrhoidal Relief
KaitiUSA replied to cihuateto's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes I agree there is a very slim chance it will get near your mouth and if you need it immediately I would get something gluten-free of not because chances of having it ingested are very very slim. I was just saying I understand wanting to know if a product is gluten free because all of my products even ones that would not get near my mouth are gluten free... -
ARCHIVED Diagnosis
KaitiUSA replied to parkerrmmc's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Has your son been off of just wheat? A gluten free diet requires being off of wheat, rye, barley, and oats. That could be why your son is not getting better yet. If he is a celiac then he will not get better while he is still on gluten. At first it is hard to because there are so many slip ups because you think things are gluten free when they are not... -
ARCHIVED Dizziness/lightheadedness
KaitiUSA replied to Niteyx13's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I get especially dizzy if I am tired and it got worse the first few months of going gluten free and after that it started getting better but I have been researching about things that cause dizziness. Has anybody had their blood sugar checked? Or maybe it could just be the change in our diet that our bodies are dealing with. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Challenge
KaitiUSA replied to dfish's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If you were not doing good on the whole diet and still eating gluten that could be why you were not feeling better. You are not going to get better while you are still on gluten if you are in fact a celiac. It took me 3 months of being gluten free completely to feel about 85% better and longer then that to get back to normal. So it would not happen overnight... -
ARCHIVED Hemorrhoidal Relief
KaitiUSA replied to cihuateto's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well I can see why you would want gluten-free products. Even things I use that would probably never make it to my mouth are gluten-free. I just keep my products gluten free. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Challenge
KaitiUSA replied to dfish's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
3 months is usually how long they tell you to be on gluten to have a positive biopsy and blood results. I know people that have done it in 3 weeks but that varies from person to person and for some people that is too short of a time. Did you have positive blood tests 14 months ago? If you had the positive results then why do you need them now?
