  1. You mentioned the soy sauce was wheat free...was it gluten free as well? The only time I usually get stomach pain is if I accidentally gluten myself. Maybe you could have another intolerance as well.
  2. That's great I thought they were gluten-free but I was getting scared for a minute there. I'm glad they are gluten-free.
  3. I strongly agree with celiac3270. They really are contaminated. Those are horrible stats!
  4. Yeah you have to check about vinegar because some contain gluten. I eat vlassic pickles all the time, they are supposed to be gluten free and I have not had a reaction to them. Have you made sure the brands that you are eating are gluten free?
  5. If you go to the health food store like up here we have Common Market and Whole Foods get gluten-free English muffins (plain and cinnamon) which taste really good. They really need to be toasted because otherwise they fall apart easily but they are so good. They are made by Foods by George. I know brown rice bread tastes really bad. I stay away from oats...
  6. I sure hope they didn't change if they did do you know when they changed? I haven't had them for about 4 months but last I knew they were gluten-free.

  9. girlygirl-I have also read that barley is contained in yeast extract. I'm not sure if that is true but I know I read it. It's always good to learn new information. As far as MSG goes it is bad for everyone and some people do have reactions and they should avoid it but you were coming on saying that it's a big no no for celiacs and they shouldn't have it...
  10. I think he said wednesday or thursday. I wish I had some kind of update. I hope everything went well. Hopefully he'll be back here soon
  11. I agree have your products checked. If you are not eating anything with gluten maybe a product of yours is giving you trouble. I have a fast metabolism. I can eat and eat and not put on much weight. It just means we have to eat more. I eat about 500-700 more calories than I would normally eat and I've been able to gain weight. I finally am up to what I...

  14. My weight loss was 16 pounds in a span of about 3 months. After going gluten free it all came back in about 3-4 months.

  16. I make rice krispy treats with Kraft marshmallows and a gluten free rice cereal. You do need to check with MFS though but Kraft does not hide anything so I use their products a lot. They taste really good...you should make your own if you have a craving for it .
  17. You have to check the labels to make sure they are gluten free. You should make sure they are safe before eating them. Some candies are safe and some are not. Do you know what candies that you ate? When I was first diagnosed I didn't have a bad reaction. Now if I have even the slightest bit I get feeling really bad. When your body gets used to being...

  19. I think it depends how sensitive you are. Some people don't have reactions to it while others do. Alot of places have things that are naturally gluten free and they clean the machines in between but could have residue on them. I personally eat frito lay products that are on the gluten free list and I have not had a problem so far with their gluten free...
  20. In spices sometimes wheat flour is used in spices to prevent clumping but most spices I have found to be fine. McCormick spices are gluten free. I use them all the time.
  21. Scotsgirl-I'm not a vegetarian but I do have celiac and know what you are going through. I was so frustrated at first because all the foods I loved I couldn't have and had to watch people eat it. After a while I learned brands of good gluten free food and found out there really is a lot I can still have. I started to feel better about it. I definately know...

MSG is bad for you altogether it is not healthy. It's not good for anyone but many celiacs are in fact fine with it because it is derived from corn. It can be derived from wheat and that is mostly seen...
  23. I felt so much better going gluten-free. It took a while for me to get back to normal and I still get some minor symptoms sometimes but going gluten-free was the best thing that I ever did for myself. Give it time I'm sure you will start feeling so much better when your body goes through the healing process. If it doesn't you may want to consider an allergy...
