  1. You mentioned in another thread about medicine making your daughter sick. Maybe that contains gluten or she is just having a reaction to it. Talk to your doctor because she should be taken off of it whether it contains gluten or not with the kind of reaction she is having. Pepto Bismol is gluten free Is there anything else other then the medicine that...
  2. Sheila Try Tinkyada pastas....that brand tastes normal..nobody in my family knew the difference until I told them. As Tiffany said though some brands of gluten free foods are good and some aren't BUT also some gluten containing foods are good and some aren't. It goes both ways for both kinds of products.
  3. Velveeta is made by Kraft so they won't hide anything and yes it is gluten free
  4. Did you call to see if it was gluten free before giving it to her? I do not see that on any of my lists. However, even if it is gluten free some drugs do give people reactions so you need to tell her doctor she is reacting to this and maybe look at a different drug that may be better for her.
  5. Yumm....I think I will check and see if the Whole Foods near me has this.
  6. I'm with you on liking the natural things...Xylitol is a natural sweetener that comes from birch trees. It's also ok for diabetics and hypoglycemics...I think it is low calorie...
  7. modified food starch can be questionable..most of the time it is ok but most doesn't cut it and therefore it must be checked on. The gluten free bible has a lot of inaccuracies...they say certain things are not gluten free that are and vice versa...the book really is bad for new people to the diet I have run into quite a few things that had gluten in...
  8. Hey Carrie...you changed your name on here I just noticed that...
  9. I know sometimes stickers can be a problem. Some are fine though. I wouldn't be overly concerned about the tape though.
  10. HVP can contain gluten...it depends where it was derived from. If you see Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein it would be unsafe but if you see Hydrolyzed Soy Protein it would be safe. It's one of those tricky ingredients where you have to know what it was made from to determine if it is gluten free.(unless however it is on a label such as Kraft...then they would clearly...
  11. That's great! Good to know some people don't consider us "contagious".
  12. Yep I noticed we had more blue boxes by our names when I got on here last night.
  13. I emailed the company about Dr Pepper because there was some controversy on whether or not it is gluten free. Here is the response...so enjoy

  15. Garnier should be ok for shampoo...I think some people on here use that..I'm thinking that was an ok brand but someone else may know for sure...also if you check the threads in the product section you should be able to find alot of this info. Clinique only has some gluten free products so you have to check on that...I had to throw my lipstick by them...
  16. Hey..welcome to the board I'm working on my first year in college now...feel free to IM me anytime...my AIM is CountryChic716 and my YIM is KaitiUSA
  17. I am highly against oats. I believe most if not all the oats in the U.S are contaminated and alot of the stats show at least some contamination. Aside from that the protein in oats called avenin causes some celiacs to have reactions. If you have to have oats I would get them from somewhere where they have been grown separate from wheat, and made in a different...
  18. Well makeup like lipstick is essential. Other makeup to me is essential because when you take it off there is possibilities of getting traces into your mouth..and if you touch your face throughout the day or rub your eyes, etc ...there are just numerous ways to be glutened. With soaps&lotions, when you wash your hands and then prepare your food.....

  20. When you get a reaction there is not much to do. Hopefully some of the things mentioned above would help relieve some symptoms though. Where did you get the fries and bunless hamburger? If you got them at a place like McDonalds then I would think the bunless hamburger was the culprit.
  21. You know when I was first diagnosed I was like o great I can't have anything good that I like. Well I learned as time went on that is false. There are so many good foods that we can have now that we could have before. There are good gluten free breads, donuts, cookies, and all that stuff it's just a matter of finding the good brands that are mixed with some...
  22. Never had a reaction to them...and only keep to the cocoa and fruity ones by post...the new marshmallow ones do contain gluten.

  24. Not necessarily. Antibodies in the blood indicate there is a negative response to gluten going on in your body. Some of the time when there are antibodies present there will be some damage..to what extent of damage that can vary. Other times damage may not have arised yet. I think it depends how long the celiac has been activated and gone undetected. The...
