ARCHIVED Back To The Coke Debate....
KaitiUSA replied to Turtle's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yep coke is gluten free -
There are not degrees of celiac disease but there are degrees of symptoms. Some people may have worse reactions and so forth but the people who don't get bad reactions are in the exact same boat of having to avoid ANY amount of gluten. Some people may have had worse damage then others because of going undiagnosed for so long but again it does not effect...

ARCHIVED Help - Really Sick Today
KaitiUSA replied to marycubs's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Some people will get worse reactions the longer they are gluten free but that is not the case for everyone. I know I was not to sensitive to gluten at first but now the slightest bit gives me a horrible 2 week reaction. For some people it can take days to feel better on the gluten-free diet...for others it may take months for symptoms to go away. Hang... -
ARCHIVED Shampoo
KaitiUSA replied to kelmcclellan's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use alot of Dove soaps, shampoos, conditioners, hairsprays, moisturizers, etc. Dove is a brand that will not hide anything on their label so they will tell you on the label if it contains wheat, rye, barley, oats. -

I was told by Wendy's last year that the Frosty's were gluten free....so I think they would have had to be gluten free at some point. I think I will call them again...they need to just tell everyone 1 thing and not confuse us all.

ARCHIVED Tried To Eat At The Movies... :(
KaitiUSA replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yea celiac3270 I don't think the poppable ones are gluten free either. I know the full size ones are gluten free....maybe it is different with sizes though...this is an example of how important it still is to double check a label -
Who are they to add gluten to something good that we can have.....I don't feel so bad for them with the finger incident anymore

ARCHIVED Someone Please Clarify For Me
KaitiUSA replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I eat the Fruity and Cocoa pebbles by Post alot and yes they are definitely gluten free. I used to eat some cereals by Malt-O-Meal but they were changing their ingredients so I quit eating them so I wouldn't get addicted to it and then have to stop eating them -
ARCHIVED Shampoo
KaitiUSA replied to kelmcclellan's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It would not bother you skin wise unless you have DH. I keep all gluten free products that I use on my hands(like lotions and soaps), and around my face because the chances of it getting into your mouth are pretty high -
I kicked butt too!!! I got them all right...I'm going to send it to some friends and see how they do

ARCHIVED Wife's Symptons?
KaitiUSA replied to VydorScope's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There could be a chance you all have it...or if you all don't have celiac then there could be sensitivity to gluten. It does seem suspicious that she didn't feel well after eating something with wheat. -
ARCHIVED Puffins
KaitiUSA replied to debbie-doodles's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am one of the people completely against oats. In the US contamination of wheat is with the oats so those are definitely a no no. There is also a protein in oats called avenin that some celiacs may react to. I would stay away from them..when something says wheat free then read over the label very carefully because most likely it will have rye,barley... -
ARCHIVED Any Ideas
KaitiUSA replied to Ally2005's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Levels are still up so you could be seeing trouble from that. They usually say damage takes 3-6 months on average to heal. Since your tTG was so high at 100 it is good they went down so much but I think you need to see if anything could be slipping in..maybe through products you use and so forth.. just to x out that possibility you may want to investigate... -

ARCHIVED Outback Bloomin' Onion Recipe
KaitiUSA posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I received a book with some restaurants recipes for these sorts of items. This was one of my favorite things before I went gluten free. I modified this recipe to be gluten free and it was soooo good so I thought I would post it. Outback Bloomin' Onion Dipping sauce: 1/2 cup mayonnaise 2 teaspoons ketchup 2 tablespoons cream style horse radish... -
A few suggestions: If you can't sleep you may want to think about if you had any caffeine within about 6 hours of going to bed. This can keep me awake. For some people this may not work but for me taking calcium before I go to bed relaxes me and helps me sleep better. Sleeping to much...I can relate...my doctor said it's common when you get to a certain...

Do you have another intolerance which is why you can't have ice cream? Why can't you have Ben and Jerry's ice cream? That is a brand that will not hide anything and some of their flavors are gluten free. -
ARCHIVED Splenda
KaitiUSA replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Haven't seen it in a regular supermarket but they are at health food stores. It it a bit more expensive but in my opinion worth it. -
ARCHIVED Splenda
KaitiUSA replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I still use regular sugar when baking but I usually will split it in half with the natural sugar. It was the health thing for me. My mom actually started using it in certain things and it tasted fine so I thought hey if its a bit healthier for me why not. I have not quit using regular sugar though, I have significantly lessened the amount I have though... -
ARCHIVED Splenda
KaitiUSA replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Xylitol is a natural sweetener. We get it at our local health food store along with stevia. This is what my bag of XyloSweet(made from Xylitol) says: What is Xylitol? Xylitol is the commercial name for a naturally occuring sugar called xylose commonly derived from corncobs and birch trees. Xylitol and Stevia are both supposed to be ok for hypoglycemics... -
ARCHIVED Splenda
KaitiUSA replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think stevia tastes fine...with certain things you may need to add more or less to get the taste you want. I use liquid stevia for drinks. For things such as lasagna I will use the powder stevia and that also works well for me I have not used stevia for baking. I have used Xylitol(similar to stevia) and sugar mixed for baking though. I hate anything...
