  1. Welcome to the board! There are a few thoughts that come to my mind: 1) Have you checked products as well like lipsticks and other cosmetics? shampoos? lotions? everything that you put on your face, hands, and head should probably be checked because those products can easily get into your mouth. 2) Is there a possibility you may have something else...
  2. Glix- I live in MD and I see you don't live to far from there....there are gluten free bakeries around here....
  3. That is true about Maltodextrin in the US but I have not heard that of modified food starch. If it is a brand that won't hide anything then it would be safe unless stated but that is a questionable ingredient that must be followed up on....9 out of 10 times it will be safe but I have run into things in the US that contain gluten in the MFS.
  4. I have heard they usually take about 5...but at least 3. The problem with a biopsy is...even if it comes back completely normal you can have celiac disease. The damage might not have occured yet or there is sporadic damage. I would get a full celiac panel with the EMA and tTG done because they are very specific for celiac. and if those come back normal...
  5. Log Cabin syrup is NOT gluten free. I got a response from the company saying that they have barley in them Aunt Jemima syrup IS gluten free. That's the only brand I use unless I find some at a health food store marked gluten free. I wish manufacturers would give out the same info to everyone because there seems to be mixed info.On the brands with mixed...
  6. The picture is kind of fuzzy so it doesn't look like it should but it's good enough that I'm not gonna mess with it lol. The girl in the picture with me is my best friend chelsey. Mel-how are you feeling now? Maybe you can do things this coming weekend that you would have done over memorial day weekend.
  7. O it's a Kraft brand...I did not know that..if that's all it says then it is safe... They will not hide it under anything and if it doesn't say wheat, rye, barley, oats on the label then its safe
  8. You have to check about modified food starch because it is a questionable and can contain gluten.
  9. Well what brand is it? Some brands like Kraft, Breyers, etc will not hide wheat, rye, barley, oats under any hidden ingredients so you would just have to check the label for those 4 ingredients instead of having to look and call for every questionable ingredient. Most of the time mono and diglycerides are fine BUT there is a small chance even in the US that...
  10. Hope you feel better soon...hang in there..it'll get better
  11. Welcome to the board! If you have any questions just ask..there are so many knowledgable people on this site. You will find great information and support
  12. If it is made in North America it is likely to be gluten free.
  13. I know how awful you must feel. I hope you feel better soon. Just try to keep it light food on your stomach until it gets back to normal. Try drinking teas like peppermint too...that can really settle your stomach
  14. I would stay gluten free. This pill may help with symptoms but may still cause damage. I am very skeptical. Something to help with reactions(that you get by accident) would be nice but as far as I am concerned...I will continue being gluten free I would have to evaluate further after testing and so forth is done...at this point I am very skeptical of...
  15. Ok that doctor you had should be out the door. These kinds of doctors are what contributes to the suffering that people go through that can easily be avoided. If you have the antibodies then you need to go gluten free now...not wait. The longer it goes on the more problems begin to arise and you damage your body. You also increase your chances up to 100 times...
  16. You should not go gluten free before all testing is completed. This will make tests come back with inaccurate results. Which of the 6 tests came back negative? There are 2 tests...EMA and tTG...if one of these 2 tests came back positive then you have it. These are very specific tests for celiac. Has the diet been helpful in eliminating your symptoms...
  17. Going gluten free will bring your chances of cancer and those things back to the normal population risk or pretty close to it. It's when you ignore the diet or "cheat" often that chances of cancer increase by 40-100 times. Other life threatening and disabling diseases will be more likely to get as well.
  18. Celiac is underdiagnosed and goes undetected usually for a while. Chances are you have had this for a while and just were never tested for it or had complications. Regular blood tests won't detect celiac so you have to get that panel done(and not many doctors think about this when you come in) It can be triggered from stress, childbirth, pregnancy, surgery...
  19. That part sounds like you may have an allergy as well. You should get it checked out by a doctor so it doesn't get worse one day and have something really bad happen where you need immediate help.
  20. My reactions last a good 2 weeks with the 7th day being the absolute worst day.Reactions vary from person to person though. Hang in there..it will get better
  21. When I first went gluten free we did not have a gluten free house. My mom basically has followed the diet with me from day 1 because she has a wheat allergy. My dad...let's just say he doesn't watch if he contaminates. After a while my mom put gluten completely out of the house except for frozen lunches my dad can take to work to eat. He can eat gluten outside...
  22. Dental problems are related to celiac. They say tooth enamel is affected...but it's kind of fuzzy about if anything else with teeth are connected. I've never had a cavity but I have somewhat sensitive teeth. Whether or not that is related to celiac...I do not know.
  23. The "You might be celiac if" thread is in the Gab room so just click on Gab room and it should show up if you scroll down. For searching...you may need to click most recent first. I haven't used the search engine alot on here so someone else *cough* celiac3270 *cough* may be able to help you with that part more.
  24. The donuts and brand that they may have been talking about is Kinnikinnick. That is a really good brand! Must have. We can't have cocoa puffs but we can have cocoa and fruity pebbles by Post. Welch's grape juice is gluten free too
