ARCHIVED I Can Walk Again! Want To Celebrate!
Lynayah replied to Lynayah's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
What a great post! I know what you mean about "dying years" -- all too well. Yes, yes, me too -- I see symptoms in so many people -- people who have white spots on their teeth, people who have been diagnosed with RA, IBS, etc., people who cannot understand why they have a very difficult time losing weight when they eat gluten-ridden foods. (I am... -

Hi there! Thanks! Off topic I know, but what happened to your adorable photo? -
I have been using Hymalyan Salt Drink every morning to help combat dehydration. If you search the term on YouTube, you will find videos that explain it. There is also a book: Water and Salt, The Essence of Life. I am not smart about it, but I've been using it, and it has helped me very much. Also, Hymalyan Salt on food is AMAZINGLY...

ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Lists Not Reliable
Lynayah replied to JBaby's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am learning that if the label doesn't specifically say "gluten-free," that I need to call the company to check. Also, I've found that some products are gluten-free one minute and then NOT gluten-free the next. Wal-Mart frozen vegetables are a good example, at least in my area. The bags that used to say gluten-free now say that the item has been processed... -

Wow -- good for you! I cannot even imagine how trying those 13 years must have been. You are a hero. Congratulations! Life is indeed good. -
ARCHIVED I Can Walk Again! Want To Celebrate!

It really is amazing. Thank you for your post! In my life I've had everything from a Hypogammaglobulinemia diagnosis (from early childhood -- took shots for years) to goodness knows what else. There is so much learning that needs to take place out there. We are the lucky ones. Just think about all those out there who do know know what is happening... -
ARCHIVED My Sister Doesn't Believe Ingluten Intolerance!
Lynayah replied to nu-to-no-glu's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My reply to her . . . "I don't know what to say about that . . . an estimated one in seven people have gluten sensitivity . . . and any physician who is not up on it is not doing her homework." GRRRRRRRR! Sadly, it is doctors like her who make the gluten-free community crazy. She needs to learn. Perhaps you are meant to teach her, as painful as... -

LOL! Hey, I am thinking for us, who needs Sex in the City shoes when someone can have a killer attitude like yours? Attitude is everything. I am changing my post: Forgetaboutit! Leave the heels to those who have nothing else to fall back on. As for you and me (and countless others here), SEXY IS NOT IN THE SHOES! -

Love your signature! I want to see you do the Thriller Dance! I hope post it on YouTube or invite me to come to the show. You rock! -
ARCHIVED I Can Walk Again! Want To Celebrate!
Lynayah replied to Lynayah's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Oh my gosh, slippers! Yes, yes. I know. I used to always carry a pair of Isotoners with me (with support insoles inserted) just in case I couldn't handle the Crocs any more. Last year in Disney World, those darn slippers kept me from killing myself (well, maybe not that bad, but goodness knows, I thought I was going to die). Before that, when I... -

Oh yes! I'm cranking up the celiac disease player tonight and dancing my heart out -- hey, who needs to wait for a crowd. I'm ready to dance! (I will, of course, draw the curtains first. Goodness knows that the world may not be ready for a crazy woman who is high on dancing in granny shoes!) That'll be my next step . . . opening the windows! ... -

Thank you, Ravenwoodglass. If not for you, I don't even know how far I would have come by now. You have been wonderful in supporting my posts and telling it like it is. So, I'm thinking that Sex in the City shoes must be in there somewhere! <laughing> Except I'd kill myself falling off of them (gluten ataxia?). <laughing more> -
ARCHIVED Refractory Celiac?
Lynayah replied to nicole356's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Burdee -- oh my gosh what you have been through! Good point about enzymes. I had a number of digestive enzymes that I had to throw away -- no gluten listed on the label, but when I called the company they told me the enzymes were manufactured in a plant that also processes wheat. -
ARCHIVED Which Mascara, Foundation, Eyeshadow Do You Use?

As an update: I checked on the liquid. The name of it is Bare Vitamins Skin Rev-er Upper. It contains Avena Sativa made from oats, so those of you who have an alergy to wheat may get a reaction, as I did, if the oats contain wheat. The longer I get used to all this, the more I realize I probably have an allergy to wheat as well as gluten-intolorance... -

ARCHIVED I Can Walk Again! Want To Celebrate!
Lynayah posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
This is a message for everyone who wonders if there is hope out there. Yes, there is. For many years now, my feet have been in so much pain that I could walk for only short periods of time, and I could only wear Crocs, even with business suits. I hated having to wear Crocs all the time, but I was very grateful for at least finding a shoe that would... -
ARCHIVED Upper Egd Negative But Have Many C. Symptoms
Lynayah replied to delsol's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sounds like me! I also had all of the above plus extreme body aches, HORRIBLE foot and lower back pain, vitamin D deficiency . . . the list goes on and on (see my signature). Initially, my Rheumatologist gave me a "Celiac blood test," which came back negative. However, when I went to University of Chicago for a second opinion, they explained to me that... -

ARCHIVED Refractory Celiac?
Lynayah replied to nicole356's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Have you had your vitamin levels and thyroid checked? Also, are you absolutely sure you're not cross contaminating yourself? Things as simple as cast iron pans, cutting boards, etc. can do it . . . but of course you probably already know that. Are you sure that everything -- ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING that you put in your mouth is gluten-free, without... -
ARCHIVED Nutrient Deficiencies?
Lynayah replied to sunnybabi1986's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Last year, I was diagnosed as having basically almost no vitamin D in my body. I cannot even begin to tell you the exhaustion I felt. I was also in pain, my joints were swelling, and I was so weak I could hardly carry a quarter pound wallet purse. It was horrible . . . and I never, ever, EVER would have guessed my problems were from a vitamin deficiency... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Pizza Request Sent To Papa John's (and They Are Listening!)
Lynayah replied to ncflusche's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I must say that I agree with the CC issue. In my area there are some restaurants who brag about having gluten-free pizza, but when you talk to them you learn that they do not have a dedicated oven, and the wooden paddle they use to transfer the pizza in and out of the oven is the same as the one they use on the flour ones. If Papa John's could become... -
ARCHIVED The Chex Issue
Lynayah replied to Frances03's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have not tried the product so I cannot comment . . . but for those of you who feel you have issues with the product . . . has anyone tried to contact the media to report it? Maybe a bit of investigative journalism is in order here? If enough people have had problems, it might do wonders in opening people's eyes as to the importance of proper testing,...
