ARCHIVED Product Testing?
Tigercat17 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
HI everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has ever sent a product to be tested for gluten when it states that it is gluten free on the bottle? I have vitamins that I got really sick from during last Jan - April and I had to have surgery. I had night sweats, fevers, dizziness, fatigue, weight loss, headaches and enlarged lymph nodes in my stomach. The... -

Tigercat17 replied to glutenfreemamax2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

ARCHIVED Thyroid & Misery Of Switching Meds
Tigercat17 replied to idonteatwheat's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm so sorry you had to go through this. Some doctors are such idiots... I too got so sick from a new prescription of Synthroid and I'm not lactose intolerant. I know it was a gluten reaction. I was taking it for two years and then I was diagnosed with celiac disease and then I continued to take it for three more months after I was gluten free and I wasn... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Vaccine Anyone?
Tigercat17 replied to Tigercat17's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You are so right Ravenwoodglass! Yes, I do think celiac disease has been around for a long time and people were and still are being just misdiagnosed. It's a shame really... Personally I don't think anyone should eat gluten and even though this diet is a pain in the butt (just because they put gluten in almost everything ),I consider myself very blessed... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Vaccine Anyone?
Tigercat17 replied to Tigercat17's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
No, you're not a cynic Irishheart. I completely understand where you're coming from - you sound just like me! You're just being realistic. It is all about the BIG BUCK in this country and since celiac disease is on the rise someone wants to make a profit on it. -

ARCHIVED Cross Contamination
Tigercat17 replied to jubilanthope's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think cooking pizza and other gluten foods in your oven is fine, but I would make sure I had new pans for my gluten free foods and keep them separate from your gluten pans. It's really impossible to remove all the gluten crumbs from these kinds of pans. Also, watch for cross contamination with your pot holders, towels and sponges. Myself, I have a completely... -
HI everyone, I've been hearing a lot about the recent trails of the new celiac vaccine lately. It's sounds almost too good to be true. If it was approved by the FDA would anyone try it or would you just stick with the gluten free diet? Myself, I'm a little skeptical. I was wondering what are the risks? And would it also cure an allergy to wheat...

ARCHIVED Yogurt And Peanut Butter
Tigercat17 replied to divamomma's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just wanted to add I use Jiff peanut butter without any problems. IF you're looking for jelly- Smucker's is gluten free, too. You can find Udi's at some Wholefoods or another specialty store. I think it really depends on where you're going in the US. For me in Pittsburgh, PA I have to travel a good 40 mins to get Udi's Bread, but it's worth it. Have... -
ARCHIVED Intestinal Nerves Hearling?
Tigercat17 replied to Jeff In San Diego's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Jeff! Welcome to the board! You're in a good place! I've had a "noisey stomach" before when I was healing and now it comes back when I get gluten. I'm not sure if it's the nerves or not. Since you only been gluten free for 7 weeks, it going to take some time to get better - unfortunately. And since you're still losing weight you might want to eat... -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Else Had The Pill Cam
Tigercat17 replied to bonnie blue's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was supposed to have this done recently, but my doctor canceled it since I'm feeling a lot better. I did do some research on it and I thought I read that you have to do a prep the night before, but the procedure itself is painless. Hopefully you'll get a lot of good information from this. Good Luck tomorrow! -
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for helping me figure this out. There is so much great advice here! I really think I ruled out a soy intolerance. I've been eating soy products without any problems and I'm feeling really good. I did start taking one of the vitamins that I least suspected - the GNC Multi Ultra vitamins again just to test it out...

I'm so happy for you!!! Congratulations! That's great news!

T.H. -This is brilliant! I really do think it was CC from the Vitafusion vitamins. I called this company when I first started taking them and they reassured me that they tested for gluten and there was no gluten in their facility. I really though it was a company I could trust and they were the last item I ever thought of that would have CC in them. They...

Thanks everyone for your replies! It's very informative and it helped a lot! Thank-you Ravenwoodglass! This does make a lot of sense to me! I do really think this was gluten related. It would explain all of my symptoms. I'm really not sure if it was soy or not since I'm still eating small amounts of soy and I'm still getting better. It's been slowly...

Hi Irish heart, Thanks for all your help once again! I'm still have a hard time believing these vitamins made me that sick, but I know they were... It's really crazy. I know I'm feeling so much better since I stopped them, but I'm still not 100%. I feel like I got glutened for two months, but at the time I didn't know what it was since I usually have...

Hi everyone, I really hope someone help me figure this out. I've been gluten free for about a year and a half now. I was wondering if anyone else had reactions to vitamins that are supposed to be gluten free? To make a long story short, I just had a larparoscopy done for enlarged lymph nodes in my stomach a month ago and I really think it was all because...

ARCHIVED I'm Freaking Out!
Tigercat17 replied to Tigercat17's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for all your help everyone! I just received my Tissue Transglutaminese IgA results and it's 16 (under 20 is normal). So, I don't think this is a gluten issue. I'm thinking if I was getting any CC these results would've went up. I was really starting to wonder if it was gluten, but I'm so gald it isn't. And I just had the small bowel series... -
ARCHIVED I'm Freaking Out!
Tigercat17 replied to Tigercat17's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks so much for your kindness IrishHeart. I know I was doing so good there for a while. I know my story is complicated and by next Tuesday, I'll have three doctors hopefully trying to make sense of things for me. I am kind of scared about the capsule endoscopy. I heard that it could get stuck in the small intestines. You'd think I'd be so brave... -
ARCHIVED I'm Freaking Out!
Tigercat17 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi everyone, It's been a while since I had any time to post, but I've really been too tried to even post anything and I just had surgery two weeks ago. It's a long story, so hang on... For the last six months (18 months on the gluten free diet)I was feeling really good, but since the end of Feb. I started having night sweats, chills, low grade fevers... -
ARCHIVED Cap'n Crunch: Potential Enemy?
Tigercat17 replied to breeeebreeee's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sorry, you're not feeling well Bree. I think it's the cereal. I just looked at the website. All flavors have Oat Flour in them in the Cap'n Crunch and that is a No-No for us. Stop the cereal and change the it for one that is gluten free. You could maybe start with the Glutino cereals. They're a little expensive, but at least they are gluten free. I hope feel... -
ARCHIVED Synthroid?
Tigercat17 replied to kaitlyn77's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was having a lot of problems from synthriod last year and I do think they were gluten related. I changed to Levoxyl made from the Pfizer company. I just called them again today to confrim that they are gltuen free. The rep. said yes! Here's the link: Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Gluten Or Flu
Tigercat17 replied to adab8ca's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It really would be a good idea to have a completely gluten free kitchen. I hate to tell anyone how to run their household, but it sounds like you're really sensitive and you don't want to feel sick wondering where it came from all the time. I know if I had any gluten in my house I would be a basket case with all that you have to think about and then I'd be...
