  1. It's common to have the blood work done every six months, but I also think it depends on your insurance and your doctor. I know in the last 18 months my GI doc ordered the IgA Tissue Transglutaminase(tTG) test for me seven times in one year. It was positive for a long time before it finally started to lower, so my GI doc was following me closely. I really...
  2. Thanks etta! I'm a Huge animal lover!
  3. Ha-ha! That's right! He's great! I always remember what he told me when I was first diagnosed -"It's just food." I can't tell you how many times I say that to myself! It's nice to see someone here from my area!
  4. Hi Sarah! Sorry I'm responding late- it took me a while to find this post. I'm still learning how to work this forum. I hope you are feeling better now that you stopped the herbs. I'm so glad you were able to figure it out. Another thing I was thinking... did you doctor test your thyroid at all? An under active thyroid can cause a lot of problems...
  5. Thanks Ginny! :) You're so sweet! :) It's funny how I'm still learning how to work this forum. :D I figured it was time to add a picture here. :) I hope I'm posting this right! ha-ha!

  6. Look at you! The picture of radiant health!! You just shine! Ginny

  7. Hi Gfreeat! Just a heads up -I never tried the NutThins, but I know there was a post a while back that quite a few people were having problems with them. It made me to not even attempt them since I know I would probably have a reaction. It really depends on your level of sensitivity. I'm sure if you search "NutThins" you'll be able to find some older posts...
  8. That's great Cap! I'm so glad you haven't gotten a cold in a whole year! That's awesome! I think it's because our bodies were so busy fighting the gluten all the time that it couldn't fight off colds and other infections. Also we weren't absorbing vitamins, nutrients and minerals as well as we are now. I know I've had to decrease my thyroid hormone dose to...
  9. I, too don't have violent reactions when I get glutened, but I've learned that I'm really sensitive now and I can't eat a lot of gluten free processed products. I usually get a sore throat and a slightly tender stomach, but that's usually it. I've been gluten free for 18 months now, but I know I've had a form of silent celiac disease for at least twenty years...
  10. I got zapped really good by the Rice Dream when I first started the gluten free diet. Now, before I try a new product that I'm not sure about I call the company and do a search on these forums to see if anyone has any problems with it. It really does make you mad when companies claim something is gluten free, but there's gluten in the product.
  11. I really hope this is just a temporary intolerant for you. I've had similar experiences when I thought a food didn't bother me like dairy products and then as soon as I stopped eating them, I felt better. Sometimes the reactions are so small it's hard to notice them. I can have a little dairy now, but I still haven't gone back to regular milk, yet. I'm...
  12. I totally agree with dilettantesteph. I've had high levels of antibodies every time I was tested for blood work since I've been diagnosed and I've been gluten free for 18 months. I was feeling a lot better after 5 months on the gluten free diet, but still not 100%. My reactions are so subtle I didn't even notice it. I know it's so frustrating. I did finally...
  13. Thank you for your message!! and thanks for adding me to your friend list! :>)Ginny

  14. Thank you for posting your amazing recovery story!!It's beyond inspiring and gave me the encouragement I needed today. :>) Ginny

  15. Hi Nat! Like so many of us, I have a lot to be thankful for since the gluten free diet! I'm definitely not an old timer, but what a difference! I've been gluten free for 18 months. It really saved my life! It all started twenty years ago with sinus infections -4 x year, yearly bronchitis, depression, anxiety, insomnia, infertility and many kidney/bladder...
  16. Congratulations Cap6! That's great! I'm so glad you're feeling better! I too, didn't believe everyone when they told me I would feel better in a year or so. It seemed like it took forever for my body to heal and every morning I would wake up feeling the same. It's definitely not something that can be cured over night. Now, I feel great! I do get the...
  17. Do you think maybe your intestines just might not be healed all the way yet & that's why your having problems with them? I know I reacted to so many foods when my intestines weren't healed completely - even the Ore Ida French fries. I was reacting to everything. It was so frustrating, but I had celiac disease for such a long time before I was diagnosed...
  18. Hi Zus7888! Once you heal you won't need this drug at all and you'll probably lose weight naturally being gluten free! I totally agree with everyone hear that this drug can't be good for you. Sorry... But, I would look at other vitamin deficiencies. I would ask your doctor recheck your thyroid hormones and all your vitamins. You could be deficient in Iron...
  19. Boy -I can so relate to that! Before I was diagnosed I was drinking "energy drinks' every day and all day to get normal everyday things done. I used to wonder how my friends could work, raise a family, clean and cook dinners and not drink caffeine like I was. I did this for years! I used to live on processed TV dinners because I was always too tried to make...
  20. Pizza, Pizza & more Pizza! I used to have all my local Pizza places stored in my cell phone. It was my fast go to meal since I was always busy. And Oh yeah- Pizza Hut was one of my favorites! But, pizza is just not the same for me anymore. I don't like the gluten free crust either, but I don't have the same craving for it like I used to....It's weird...
  21. I would really make sure your not getting cross contamination from any vitamins, over the counter drugs, prescriptions or processed "gluten free" products. This happened to me & it took me so long to get better. Vitamins are the worse for stating that they are gluten free when they aren't completely free of gluten. Some can add Barley but remove the protein...
  22. HI Glutenfreemama, I'm really curious what your test results are going to be. I actually had positive results on my blood work after a year being gluten free. My symptoms were not very noticeable during this time, but I finally figured out that I was still getting a small amount of gluten by "gluten free" vitamins even though I was on a strict gluten...
  23. I'm really sensitive and I know I can't eat any of the Chex cereals. I tried them all & I always get acid reflux, a sore throat and a tender tummy the next day. It usually lasts for three days. This is my usual gluten reaction, but I'm not sure if there's CC of gluten in the Chex or not or if I'm reacting to something else in them. It's still a mystery...
  24. Beware of vitamins... I had so many problems with them in the last year. I used Megafoods and Country Life -Iron -I know I was getting gluten from these even though they say "gluten free." It took me a while to figure it out, but I'm really sensitive. All my reactions are gone now so I'm sure the vitamins I take are safe. Also, it really depends on what...
  25. Yep, took me five months to feel 80% better and a whole year to feel 100%. I would change your hair gel, too. It's not worth it to risk getting sick over a hair gel. I really like Paul Mitchell products. A lot of their products don't have wheat in them ,but if they do, it's in bold print listed simply, (wheat). Hang in there!
