  1. Local store just started carrying about a month ago and supposedly has an exclusive on it. The last 2 times I have gone in to get some, I was told that the same 2 ladies from the burbs, come in and each buy a dozen or more loaves of it. Why don't they just order it directly. How much bread can someone eat in a week? The store says they are going to...

    ARCHIVED Burger King!

You have to wonder how diligent, if at all, many of these restaurants follow their own stated policies. When I ask the workers, what items are gluten free, or if they have a list, they look at you like you are speaking in tongues. If they are this unaware, how can they be keeping things in separate cookers, if they don't understand why? I asked at several...

    ARCHIVED New Format

It is kind of ugly and way too bright. Does not function as well. But we will forget.
  4. I really want to know for sure if I have DH, so even though I do not have Insurance, I want to go to a good Derm to get Biopsy/Dapsone to see if it responds. The diet is just too expensive and difficult to maintain at 100%. But even if not DH, there are more and more Docs saying that gluten contributes to other skin rashes, eczema, etc. So .... The...
  5. I believe it, and am not going to another MD that is not totally familiar with DH and celiac. My healing has stopped, but I got glutened at least once last week, and probably 3 times. I am glad you are healing fast. Maybe mine is not DH, but it sure flares like it and looks like it. I feel better trying to be gluten-free My bum is the worst...
  6. Don't forget about home made Chex Party Mix...It is great
  7. Put those sausage balls out on your best silver platter, and use your finest linen napkins and wait til they ask "What ARE these?" Pause, and say "Coon Balls". They will look at you with a blank stare, then add "You know, Racoon Balls"... You won't remember when you had such a good time. Of course, they have already eaten about 7 or 8 of them.
  8. Don't forget about those bisquick, sausage and cheese hors d' oeuvres -----In Louisiana they are called "Coon Balls" Someone needs to come up with a gluten-free version of those Ingredients:
  9. We can laugh all we want. But, if you put Velveeta Dips (keep them hot) out a party, especially a football party, It is always the first to go. Highbrow Types always ask "what is your recipe"?
  10. If ya want to go whole hog: Velveeta, and Ro-tel Tomatoes and Chiles (not sure if gluten free) OR Velveeta and canned Hormel Chili, adventurous folk can add the Ro-tel too!
  11. I agree about the cost of the foods. I have been doing a lot of soups, rice, beans, sweet potatoes and will have to expand my home cooking menu. Need to make more salads. I am going to save my gluten-free splurge for Udi's bread, and Mary's gone Crackers (need to learn to make these). The packaged foods are not safe and too expensive.
  12. What is funny is that the same folks that turn their nose up at SPAM, eat canned soups, chili, tuna, prepared frozen and box meals, all full of chemicals, preservatives and mystery ingredients. Not to mention Fast Food.... I say always keep a Can o' Spam in the cabinet for emergency's along with a big block of Velveeta Cheese (America's favorite processed...
  13. Peppermint Oil - one drop rubbed between tips of index fingers, on the temples, away from eyes, always helps me. Also at base scalp if that area is tight. Drink some hot decaf tea along with it, better yet get in warm bath, too.
  14. I ate some Amy's gluten-free dinners also and was itchy. But my ankles were swollen also, so I though it was too much salt in them. I heard that Trader Joes carries some dinners that are made by amy's, don't know if it is true. No more Amy's for me, too expensive, I only bought them because they were on sale.
  15. Would have never guessed that.
  16. I don't think it is psychological, because I was not giving going down the bread aisle a thought. I go down the bread aisle in every grocery store. Never bothered me. I like the smell of fresh bread. Subway is cheap bread, baked in some stores. Lots of yeast in the air. Walmart does have a huge bread aisle, and they were restocking the shelves...
  17. There can be a ton of salt in packaged and frozen foods. Unless is says sea salt, they are most likely using the cheapest salt and I would not trust it. I would think giving up those types of foods for a while would be a good idea until DH is well under control. I am not sure about fish oil iodine content.
  18. You can find lots of info relating skin rashes of all kinds, to diet, especially sugar, dairy, gluten, and soy. There is an eczema type severe rash called dermatitis herpetiformis directly caused by gluten and and a component of celiac disease.
  19. I ate beans and rice bowl with veggies and salsa. Got sick with crazy rash by the next day. Emailed corporate Willy's and basically they said most stuff in the menu had the possibility of gluten, they use a lot of canned stuff for salsa's, in beans natural flavorings and fillers with great possibility of MSG and the did not know about their corn tortillas...
  20. It is difficult for a healthy person to understand. I was itching nonstop and have a weeping itchy painful, burning rash all over my scalp and body. Can't sit on my butt for longer than 10 minutes at a time. Embarrassed by scratching and the way rash looks. Embarrassed to get a haircut. Can't stand to wear clothes, can't wear bra or stockings. ...
  21. This used to happen every time I went to a Subway Sandwich shop with friends. I could not eat there and got violently ill 3 times over a year. I figured it was the yeast, and did not know about gluten. I go to Walmart often, and never had any issue with Bread Aisle. Weird.
  22. I meet more and more people that tell me wheat does not agree with them. Usually they ask me why I am gluten-free and I tell them about the DH and swollen abdomen. They either have digestive issues, big tummy or a combination or some sort of skin issue. It is amazing. Last night at the Whole Foods Juice Bar, a beautiful young girl asked me why I was...
  23. I asked Atlanta Whole Foods and Return to Eden a few weeks back and neither one had heard of it. I guess the gluten free expert at Return to Eden got asked enough and it showed up right before Thanksgiving. The store has a good selection of gluten-free foods. Sad to say most of these foods do not go on sale, but Pamela's cookies are on sale. I...
  24. I think I have been gluten-free about 5 weeks but I am sure I got contaminated during the first week or more, especially from hidden gluten (tortilla chips that won't claim to be gluten-free) and CC. I have noticed more time between itch attacks, and I have even gone several hours at a time without itching. Night is still bad, or if I get overheated...
  25. I meant for you to go to CureZone forum and other info sites, to do your research. If you can afford it, I would still seek medical advice of some kind. It is always better to use foods, diet as nutrition and natural detox thru these.
