  1. I had to laugh at your "handle" Internal Disaster...because that is how I often feel. I have a sluggish liver and digestion, and have been doing some gentle detoxing thru vegetable juicing and diet. Cut out the junk, go easy on supplements, gentle exercise, and plenty of sleep. Cure Zone has a lot of Info, but beware of heavy duty detoxing methods...
  2. Open Original Shared Link Black Bean recipe sounds good.
  3. I have found several mex-grocery sites that say La Costena chipotles adobo is a gluten free product.
  4. I just bought a small can last night, and was wondering if I made a mistake. Post if you find out. Open Original Shared Link I found this so far...check out the burgers...damn. At the bottom of the recipe: "If you need gluten-free version, be sure to buy San Marcos or La Costena chipotles in adobo sauce. Some others have wheat flour in the...
  5. Just found out Return to Eden Atlanta carries some Udi's Products. I asked last week and clerk said they did not sell them, well they do now. Very good white bread. In refrigerator case, so I wonder how long it lasts. I had 2 slices which are a little on the small side. I want about 2 more The stuff is expensive, but I am not ready to get...
  6. Your symptoms sound like mine and DH is possible. You could also have other skin issues along with it Eczema and P. Welcome to the butt rash club and here's to us getting out of it soon! I am no expert on the testing, but if you DID NOT go gluten free yet, you have a good chance of the DH being diagnosed in lab tests. I can't afford the testing...
  7. After I went gluten-free (a month ago) I started getting yeast issues. I cut out fruit and sugars, including those in gluten-free items. I just started vegetable juicing. I wonder if folks that replace gluten foods with new found gluten-free foods go to heavy (thinking they are "safe" because no wheat? I lost focus on general good nutrition for...
  8. I am with you, I just cut out a big list of processed food and those crackers are out. I am also going to cut out most baked goods of any kind, so I hope I don't find Udi's bread yet. I will add some of this back in when my skin heals.
  9. I can only eat beans if they are soaked, and properly slow cooked. Nothing right out of a can or quick prepared. Same with rice, no converted. A lot of people eat to large a serving of beans and rice at a time. I was doing this also. This is a good thread.
  10. I am going easy on fruits right now, as well as other sugars, because I have been reading that they are poison for everyone, but especially immune compromised folks and really tragic for those with skin issues. They also mess with flora balance and cause yeast over growth in immune compromised people. I am concentrating on green veggie juices and detoxing...
  11. Sorry roux is needed for real gumbo IMHO and I am cajun/texan from Lafayette, LA File is garnish after the gumbo is made, and a tiny amount can be overwhelming. I only like it in chicken sausage okra gumbo. Can't wait to try the above recipe.
  12. Thanks Fiddle, yes sometimes liquid children's benedryl is the only thing that helps me to relax and sleep for a while. After going gluten-free, I was worried about the meds, as I was taking Kroger branded benedryl. Perrigo? the maker of Kroger generic, called me tonight and let me know it was gluten free...Yipee! Your rash sure sounds like mine...
  13. Sure sounds possible, but with all the negative symptoms I would get off the gluten asap, and watch out for sugar as well. I have notices there is a lot of sugar in gluten-free foods. It seems you were better before your little binge. I hope you feel better soon.
  14. I appreciate the discussion on Prednisone, and was prescribed oral and topical by a Derm Assistant right off the cuff without a Derm ever seeing me. I do not think much thought at all went in to my case. It was quite easy to find the positives and negatives about this drug. I did use the topicals for the 2 weeks on, taper off routine. I had terrible...
  15. Sponges are impossible to rinse clean of soap, bacteria, and I am sure gluten. I have never liked cleaning with them, and they smell. At least you can throw cloths in a hot washer.
  16. Well, they post 20 ppm right on the package and I read highly sensitive folks might react over 10ppm. I am just getting started gluten-free and have a lot of rash so I am going to give my body as much break as possible. Some have recommeded that we are more sensitive to minute amounts of gluten in the beginning of going gluten-free. It might be...
  17. I had a biopsy a couple of years ago, they said eczema/psoriasis, but I was not aware of DH. Who knows if they tested for it, or would even know what it was. They did it on my neck/scalp line which was really bad, and I think they tested right on it, because the entire area was covered. I need to scrape up the money and get a biopsy from a DERM that...
  18. Thanks for the suggestions. I like ginger, but have not cooked much with it. I just bought some to try. I do like apple, pineapple, watermelon, lemons, limes, avocados. I take papaya enzymes. I was wondering how to cook bok choy and kale where I would eat it. I once had some with braggs amino acids sprayed on it as seasoning over brown rice...
  19. Quit eating Progresso and other canned soups like campbells, because they had MSG, chemicals, preservatives, ton of salt, etc. I don't know what they have now. Soup is so easy for me to make fresh and quickly.
  20. I have some flax seeds and some chia seeds. I do make brown rice and roasted vegetables quite often, as well as beans and vegetables. I eat some meat, but only a few times a week. I am trying to eat more salads.
  21. Since you are afraid and it is stressing you. I would think that it would help to buy gluten free products that taste good, like oatmeal for the entire family. Does washing and rinsing pots on sanitize wash help control gluten? They clean up their own messes and use their own flatware, dish towels, and run their dishes after their meals. I would...
  22. I am a finicky eater on the vegetables front. I also don't eat a wide variety of fruit or enough variety. I will do an occasional fruit smoothie with protein, but I am watching the dairy for now. I do like the fresh juices my friend makes. It is the only way I will eat beets, kale. She made a juice with bananas and cherries, which I would never eat...
  23. Has anyone used juicing to help heal digestive tract and provide enzymes and nutrition? How has skin reacted? I thought it might be a good thing to do since the body does not seem to absorb vitamins and supplements in pill form, when it is so wrecked from Celiac. I do not like many vegetables and don't eat a lot of fruit, so for me, I wondered...
  24. Have not found it in intown Atlanta, and Whole Foods and REturn to Eden never heard of it. If you know where to buy it here, let me know. There are rumors of a Gluten Free Bakery opening in the Atlanta/Roswell ARea.
  25. I am going to quit eating those.
