  1. So far I've been sticking to Kraft because they are so good about labeling allergens I feel safe eating them. I'm having a hard time finding a good Asian Sesame dressing that is gluten free though. That was always my favorite prior to being diagnosed.
  2. I don't know what the odds are that your next child would have it, but I can't imagine it's a reason not to have more children. You are already well educated about the gluten free diet and know how to manage it. Your family already eats gluten free so it wouldn't be an extra challenge for you to have your next child be gluten free either. So long as you follow...
  3. I see Dr. Adam Lowe. He is located in Chandler/Gilbert (SE Valley). He's excellent. I went in with random nausea complaints and had a biopsy with definitive diagnosis of celiac in 8 days. I didn't even have a clue about celiac prior to that appointment.
  4. I didn't even notice that menu was only for those franchises. Interestingly, I don't live there, I went to a Chevy's in Mesa, AZ. They did have a gluten free list of foods in the restaunrant, it was in the same little book their nutritional information was in that they keep at the hostess station. The hostess didn't even know it was there, but she pulled...
  5. Carol Fenster's 1000 Gluten Free Recipes has substitution information for various allergens for all of her recipes.
  6. Here is their gluten free menu. It's online. Open Original Shared Link We went there Friday night and the kitchen manager came out to our table and talked to me. We called ahead and he brought out gluten free chips for us made in fresh oil. They also had a nutritional information book that had all of their gluten free options listed in the back of it...
  7. Macaroni Grill, Chili's, Maggiano's, On The Border, and Chevy's. Locally in Phoenix there is Barro's Pizza, Picazzo Pizza, and Sourdough Pizza. I'm pretty new to this and I've been pleasently surprised by all of the gluten free dining options.
  8. I hope you have a Sprouts nearby. They are great for when you are first starting out. They have a special label they put next to the price of all the processed foods if they are gluten free. It makes gluten free shopping very easy. The meats and veggies are naturally gluten free so you don't have to worry there, and the rest of the store has the labels.
  9. Whole Foods and Sprouts Farmer's Market are great. I know there are Sprouts in California, just not sure they are all over the state. Trader Joe's also has an ok selection and a great price on gluten-free pasta.
  10. This is really handy. It's great that they do this for their gluten free customers. Open Original Shared Link
  11. On the Border and Chevy's both have gluten free menus. Chevy's even states if you call them ahead they will fry up tortilla chips for you in brand new oil. We haven't tried them yet, but we plan to hit Chevy's this weekend. It my husband's birthday and he loves Mexican food. Hopefully, it will go well.
  12. Ever since being diagnosed I've been learning more and more about all the potential long term problems. Of course, the increased risk of cancer is highest on my worry list. I know for most cancers the risk goes down after 5 years gluten-free, but seeing as I was just diagnosed a month ago that is still 5 years off. I'm having a relatively easy time handling...
  13. I haven't, but there is nothing inherently healthy about gluten even if you can tolerate it. So long as you are still eating a balanced diet and making sure to get all of your nurtrients and fiber from other sources I think it would be fine. My only concern would be do you get lots of morning sickness or cravings? The food aversions/cravings could make it...
  14. I think you nailed it with the rising. The bread simply wasn't rising at all. It did rise after I put it in the oven to bake. The texture was odd, but it was also my first time baking with this mix, so I'm not sure I can attribute that to my error. It tasted awful though, I can't imagine 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar would change that too much. I guess...
  15. I found some Bob's Red Mill bread mixes on sale for $2 at Fry's so I bought them. I am making my first loaf now and realized I forgot to add the apple cider vinegar after it was already rising. I notice vinegar is a common ingredient in most gluten free baking. Any idea if I messed up the loaf? Is there a chance it will still turn out? What purpose does vinegar...
  16. According to McDonald's website their fries contain a meat flavoring that has wheat in it. I want to trust the BK fries, but I remember everytime I used to order them prior to going gluten-free I would get a random onion ring or two mixed in.
  17. Thanks for posting this. I live in Chandler, only 5 miles from one of the Arizona locations. I will have to check it out.
  18. My family goes to Costco every other weekend. Prior to my diagnosis we would always enjoy lunch at the snack bar. Obviously, I can't have the pizza or hot dogs anymore. Is there anything there I can have? An employee let me look at the carton their frozen yogurt comes in and it is gluten free, but I have no idea about the strawberry topping, the frozen mocha...
  19. This cake is wonderful and easy. It has a wonderful "real cake" texture. Open Original Shared Link
  20. If you aren't going to be carrying the baby yourself I can't really understand why you would need to wait 6 months. I would definitely let the doctor know your plans to use a gestational carrier. Maybe the doctor thinks the strain of the hormones for the egg retrieval would be too much to put your body through while it's still healing? That's all I can think...
  21. I want to know about the Kirkland minced onion and garlic powder. The containers don't list ingredients at all. That leads me to believe the only ingredients are onion and garlic, but I'm not positive. I love Costco in general and buy a lot of my food there including The 10lb bag of Tyson's boneless skinless chicken breasts Hummus Kirkland tortilla...
  22. I just got back from Sprouts and discovered they are having a special gluten free sale. All of their gluten free products are 25% off through January 20th. This doesn't apply to meat and produce, but it even included rice and many of their canned goods. I bought off my grocery list today, but I plan to inventory my pantry and go back and stock up.
  23. Class 1 IgE: .05-.14 Class 0/1 IgE: >0 but less than .05 Gliadin: >17 is positive
  24. Hmm, this is all of the info my sister gave me, let me find out if she has anymore details.
