  1. No eggs in them. My husband, my mother and I really like them. My son likes the glutino ones better. I found them at Whole Foods in Marietta, GA.
  2. I've heard anywhere from six weeks to three months, eating enough gluten to equal four slices of bread a day.
  3. I was not diagnosed with celiac but my severe fatigue, joint pain, swelling and daily headaches have pretty much gone away. If you didn't know, you should still be eating gluten for your tests to be as accurate as possible. If you get an endoscopy tell your doc to make sure to take several samples for testing. Damage can be patchy. If your blood tests are...
  4. We saw his ped today and he said they didn't find anything with his urine sample. He did use a black light to look at his skin and he thinks it is tinea versacolor. I don't think that's it. It still looks more like vitiligo to me. It's smooth no scaling and the patches are larger and not spotty like the tinea. As for the bedwetting, he thinks we should see...
  5. No, not ignorant. Yes. A skin biopsy next to an active lesion to test for DH. If you go ta a derm. be sure they know how to do it and that they will do it. I took my son to see a derm. and he was a goof-ball.
  6. Chicken and rice with peas and carrots, hamburger steaks(hamburger patties)with mashed potatoes and veggie, beef pot roast with veggies, I like to use kitchen basics beef stock for some flavor. Something I call swiss steak, I get those little round skillet steaks and simmer them for an hour in tomatoes and onions, green peppers if you like, and serve with...
  7. I thought this was interesting. Open Original Shared Link
  8. Hi and Welcome! I have learned a lot of valuable information here. Have all of your immediate family members been tested for celiac? I wish my family would all get tested, they are just so stubborn. Have you tried a R.O.C.K group? (raising our celiac kids) Just fire away with questions, someone will know the answer.
  9. Sorry to hear you are having so many problems. Did she have an endoscopy? (thats the one when they go through the mouth.) Did the Dr do a biopsy of her small intestine, did he/she get samples to be sent to a lab? Do you have new cookware, cutting board, plastic spoons, and toaster for her. Gluten can get stuck in non-stick cookware and in plastic and wood...
  10. I love your video and I can't wait to see more.
  11. My son's cheeks and chin would turn red and there were a few small bumps and his ears would also sometimes turn beet red. I usually noticed it at dinner time. It was not something that would happen all the time though. Since he has been gluten free it hasn't happened again.
  12. The first thing I can think of is do you have an Dr. diagnosis? If you do, get a copy of it so you can show that you have a 'special situation'. Are there counselers at the food pantry or soup kitchen? Maybe you could find a church that could help you. I think the place that said 'you should't be asking for anything special under these conditions' just does...
  13. I have not taken prednisone but I think you may need to take the smaller dose everyday. You should call your doc and ask just to make sure. I'm sure others will share their experiences.
  14. I would start out with more whole unprocessed foods. For one thing they are easier to shop for and less expensive. We like Udi's bread and Tinkyada pasta, rice, potatoes, baked or roasted chicken, steak. Most frozen and canned veggies are gluten-free. If you have a whole foods near you it is pretty easy to shop there. They have shelf labels on their gluten...
  15. I wouldn't think dairy would hurt the baby. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. You may just be lactose intolerant too. If you continue to have problems lactose free then I would try dairy free.
  16. My granny! This past Christmas were talking about my son and she informed me that after she had my mom (1950's) she stated having stomach problems. She was put in the hospital and told to eat gluten-free. When she felt better she went back to her old ways. All my life she has had stomach problems. When we would go to the beach we had to make sure a bathroom...
  17. I would call it torture. Did your doc tell you to take him off gluten before the endo ? I bet if that doc was having problems, he wouldn't go back to eating gluten. Are you wanting the endo to see if maybe something else could be going on too? If not, if it was me having to make that decision, I would keep him gluten free. Keeping him gluten free will not...
  18. Thank you. I will try to get him to do that when he needs to go.
  19. I talked to his ped. on monday and he wanted me to send him a picture of his spots so he could see if it looked like vitiligo. Of course he couldn't tell in the pics. So I am having him sit in the sun for 20 min after school so they will be more visible when we go back in a few days.(son is light skinned but tans very well) His ped. said he could also get...
  20. Hi. I haven't tried frying fish since gluten-free but you might try corn starch. I think it might work better than rice flour. I am from the south and we use cornmeal a lot for coating and frying.
  21. Hi. It sounds like you might be on the right track. As for testing you could get the blood work done while you are pregnant and get your vitamin levels checked too. If you feel better not eating gluten and dairy, don't eat it. After you have your baby you could go back to eating gluten for three months or longer and have the blood test and an endoscopy. Be...
  22. You sound like a very good husband. I would ask for vitamin levels and possibly an endoscopy. If she wants to do an endoscopy she needs to keep eating gluten. The endoscopy could also rule in or out other things that may be going on. It would probably be better for her if she had her own toaster, pots and pans, etc., just to be safe. It does sound like you...
  23. I am pretty sure my son has vitiligo. He has not be diagnosed as of yet. His ped said to keep an eye on it. I am curious to see if any of your children have had these problems as well. He is 9 and is still wetting the bed once or twice a week. I wake him up at 2am every night to go and sometimes he will already be wet. We also have limited his fluid intake...
  24. The last gluten food I ate was mellow mushroom pizza. It was good. It woke me up at about 3am to let me know that I was going to be in severe pain for the next few hours. I don't ever want to eat gluten again. I have not had another one of those 'episodes' since going gluten free.(about 4 months) I used to have them once a month. That is enough to keep me...
