ARCHIVED Is Pimms Blackberry And Elderflower Gluten Free?
kareng replied to marriedtoaceliac211's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It probably is gluten-free. But you could email them and ask for the ingredients? Or do they list the ingredients on the bottle. I know here, in the US, most alcohol doesn't list ingredients. -

Maybe if you showed them a menu for the places you are talking about? But, if its a vegan place and they like places like Applebys,I am not sure they will like it. What about Red Robin? Or Outback Steakhouse? They do a great job with gluten free but might appeal to an Applebys fan. What about having them over for dessert? Like at 8 pm? That way... -
I second the So Delicious brand of coconut " ice cream". A few flavors aren't gluten-free, so read the labels. They have a gluten-free cookie dough! They do taste a bit coconutty so my kids didn't like them.

ARCHIVED Where To Buy Gluten Free Spices?
kareng replied to Celiac-xox's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I usually buy McCormick. If you get a mix - like a taco seasoning - it could contain wheat. Plain pure spices are just spices. I am not in Canada but I think that brand is there. I buy other brands, too if that is what the store has. -
Gelato is NEVER dairy free. It is always a milk product. The first ingredient on the Talenti gelato I have is " milk". If you have a problem with dairy, and the gelato bothers you, please don't say you were " glutened". The thing is - if you feel bad, it's not always gluten. In this case, you seem to know you have a lactose intolerance, but you ate ice...

Just sipping on some of this. It's not a hard apple cider - it's pear! Delicious! I have had the plain pear on tap and it was delicious, too. It has the certified gluten-free in a circle on it. -

ARCHIVED Can't Find Modified Tapioca Starch?
kareng replied to ladyraven's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Addy has a great recipe for Brazilian cheese bread which is made with tapioca. But it really isn't like a sandwich bread. Schar makes breads with tapioca that you bake for a few minutes. My whole family likes the baguette . Have you used the search function to search recipes? I think there have been a few good ones. I don't eat much bread, so... -

Can you get Chebe crust mixes there? They are a tapioca based bread mix. You can use any of the breadstick, focaccia, or pizza dough mixes for a nice pizza crust. they call for cheese in the crust, but are good without. I pre- bake them to almost cooked before topping for pizza. Open Original Shared Link -
Glutino does test to less than 10 ppm making the cracker safe for almost all Celiacs. I use Glutino crackers and other products with no issues.

ARCHIVED Dad Brought Home A Bag Of Wheat Gluten, Now I've Given Up.
kareng replied to MermaidPaz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
great. You can order on-line from Walmart. Its free shipping to pick it up at a store. That is usually your biggest election of mini fridges & colors for crockpots. Don't count on the freezers in most of them. There are a few with a separate outside freezer door and those are supposed to have good freezers. This type: Open Original Shared... -
ARCHIVED While Tests Say No I Think Ds Has Celiac.
kareng replied to gypsyrosenfmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You must have a doctor now? I would get one, if my child had such a serious chronic illness. Does a neurologist follow NF? Its been a while and I don't remember. -
ARCHIVED While Tests Say No I Think Ds Has Celiac.
kareng replied to gypsyrosenfmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Maybe they need to check and see if any tumors are growing in his GI tract or impeding his GI tract? It looks like that could happen but I don't know much about NF. -
ARCHIVED 3 Year Old Daughter Not Growing
kareng replied to Stardustine's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am just going to comment on the growing part. My kids wouldn't grow for several months and then suddenly grow. For example - I would take one for a yearly physical and he would have grown a small amount in a year. 2 months later- take him in for a sore throat and he grew 2 inches. So I don't think 2 months of now growth is necessarily bad. -
