  1. Last night was our last night in Colorado - we went to Vinnys in Frisco. So good with food issues! I had a great poached pear, chèvre and candied pecan salad, beef tenderloin in a nice sauce ( they cook bones for days to make the sauce & no thickener needed) on polenta. Tonight we got home late and ordered pizza from Minsky's. I have eaten out ...
  2. That's awful. All they had to say was that they can't accommodate "allergies". When my kids were young,a local hate group ( I live in kansas so you can guess but I won't give them any publicity) was yelling thier filth at us. My kids asked the same thing " why do they hate us? They don't know us". We told them some people have an evil sickness in thier...
  3. I think you are misunderstanding something here? Omission and Daura are made with barley. Other gluten-free beers, like New Planet are not made with any gluten grains. Not sure why you would be skeptical about NP's gluten content? Did you think they were all gluten " removed"?
  4. Desserts and snacks. A nice and easy way to entertain!
  5. Which drink mix? I have never seen one with wheat. Wouldn't see the need for it but I want to look the next time I go to Walmart. And I agree - no one has to know what your actual diagnosis is or isn't. Find some way to word it that will work for you.
  6. Yeah, but you will still have to fix the kids something with some fat and protein.
  7. My family would revolt if I invited them over for a dinner of popcorn and fruit! Hmmmmmm..... Now that's an idea!
  8. Some canned enchilada sauces have wheat for a thickener. Some places fry things in shared oil. If its a party, who knows what someone might have dropped on the buffet - a roll on their plate falls on the enchiladas and they just take it off and you never know. Personally, I would NEVER eat something like that at a party. Just because I would have never...
  9. Sure, it could be something else. But, I think I would make sure it wasn't gluten first. Go over Grandma's kitchen with her. Is she using a toaster, butter, PB, mayo, sugar container, etc. full of gluteny crumbs? What about a colander? Does she rinse the strawberries in the same colander she drains gluteny pasta. I don't know how old your daughter...
  10. All that OJ? Of course its healthy and for breakfast!
  11. Oooo...Evil Addy! I looked on line and there are actually a million recipes for vodkas slushes using various juices and combos of juices. I am staying in this condo in Colorado and there is a sign that says " alcohol. Because no great story ever started with someone eating a salad"
  12. Have you googled a little? Seems like there would be recipes for if it works. I think people use oatmeal in things like that - so wouldn't the quinoa flakes be similar?
  13. One of these thingys http://www.cooking.com/product_115016_11/?ccaid=CKFROOG115016&utm_Source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=115016&utm_campaign=Product_Listing_Ads&gdftrk=gdfV23800_a_7c2305_a_7c10525_a_7c115016&gclid=CJyIgYGevr8CFUc0aQodPXgA0w
  14. Yummy steak, baked tater & asparagus at Outback last night. Apparently, the new trend is cider pubs. Like a brew pub but they make various hard ciders. One of them makes cider slushies. I have one of those ice cream makers where you put it in the freezer. When you want to make the ice cream, you have a frozen little tub to make it in with a stirrer...
  15. I can't help, sorry. Just wanted to say I love the new picture with the little one
  16. We had Beau Jo's pizza last night. Tonight it Outback! On a little vacation. Tomorrow night we are making cheese ravioli. They had gluten-free " Fresh" ravioli at safeway. Pasta Prima brand.
  17. I don't drink the Estella Daura for the same reason I wouldn't drink Omission.
  18. Sounds more like an allergy to me. If you want to be tested for Celiac, you need to continue eating gluten until all testing is finished.
  19. If you are just doing the diet for fun or something... Cheat all you want. I would just appreciate it if you wouldn't go to restaurants and say you need the gluten free meal and then eat the non- gluten-free bread or dessert. That just makes it harder for us Celiacs that need a restaurant to take us seriously. If you have Celiac disease, then cheating...
  20. I'm on my phone but a link to its website here might be helpful. I am thinking about going. I live in Kansas City but have relatives to visit in Dallas area.
  21. I tried to leave a comment but it has to be approved. Didn't see any comments. I think it would be best to just remove the picture. I know lots of people get confused and assume Rice Krispies and corn Flakes and oatmeal are gluten-free. It's a common rookie mistake.
  22. Topless? You didn't mention wearing a shirt. If course working in your jammys is nice
  23. Those Maui golds are always good. Never had a disappointing one.
