  1. Are you a kid? You look young in your picture so I am answering as if you are a minor child. The fact that parents think it is good to feed any child fast food for 4-5 meals a week is wrong. Can your doctor talk to them? Can you show them info from a reliable source like: "Eating any gluten, no matter how small an amount, can damage your intestine...
  2. Gluten in tp? I just love these " naturopaths" . I guess they can't make money if they don't try to scare you? Now maybe if you eat TP? That might be an issue. But gluten has to be ingested. And I have never seen anything credible to say they put gluten in TP, so eat away! I saw a documentary/ news thing years ago about why you don't want to lick...
  3. Some of this comes with time. You learn where the trouble areas are for your lifestyle and family. For example, do you have little kids eating gluten on the furniture? Might be time to stop that. Eating only at the table or on the porch. Gluteny snacks and little bowls to eat them in in a separate cabinet..... Etc. But really..... A good vacuum cleaner...
  4. I can't find the link right now...but gluten is not used in injections, IVs etc. Did you check the gluten-free drug site? I think the Rx Tylenol was gluten-free before. Your pharmacy may give you a generic. Before you pick it up, find out what company makes it. I have had some luck with googling companies and actually finding the info on line. But...
  5. Exactly! It's getting too hot to wear my Hazmat suit!
  6. And that works for you. I just wanted people to know they can have gluten in their house. And, if they expect people to bring food, they can't be sure its gluten-free. Your friends just bring Proseco..... Which works for me!
  7. I think some of this - no gluten near my house is a bit extreme. If you are keeping the food in the kitchen, dining room or on the porch it's great. I understand if there are kids running through the house - that could be trouble. I also let my boys bring whatever snacks to their man- cave in the basement. I will never eat down there. I allow gluten...
  8. Last night we had jerk chicken, Addie's recipe for Brazilian cheese bread, lots of fruits with Piña Colada sauce. Tonight, brats with cheesy corn bake & Snickers cookie bars. Going to a neighborhood cook- out. I will probably bring some fruit and Piña Colada dip for me, too.
  9. I would never expect others to bring gluten-free food to my house! If I have a party, I provide all the food. I even note on the invitation something like " due to food intolerances in out family, please do not bring any food." They can bring wine or flowers. And let's be real here.... Why would you think they could make something gluten-free? I wouldn...
  10. For myself and my hub, we would like just a pretty card with a nice note about how you were helped. Or get others to write a nice note and put them in a pretty binder. Maybe add a picture of each person. We mentor high school kids and those are our favorite gifts.
  11. Here's another thing to think about..... Or not.... When a person eats such small amounts of food everyday, it can be hard when they start to eat any food again. Sometimes you have to eat small amounts of food every 2 hours for a while....then build up to more food/ calories. This is what they do with eating disorders, people who haven't eaten for other...
  12. I wouldn't trust the pharmacist. I bet he got a CYA statement like I mentioned. You need to check these things yourself before you pick up the medications to be safe. But, that is my advice & how I do it... You may do as you wish.
  13. Maybe you should continue to eat gluten and get tested for Celiac? I would think you would want to know if you have an autoimmune disease or not. Because Celiac is genetic, This would help your kids, too.
  14. Pharmacists have no idea. You should contact the manufacturer. A lot of them will not want to say they are gluten-free because they don't test them. I just make sure they have no obvious gluten ingredients. That said, there are very few meds that actually have gluten. There is a website - glutenfreedrugs.com Which lists some meds. You might check there...
  15. Maybe alcohol isn't for you? Are you taking any medication that might react with it?
  16. I am not sure how you can do that with only about 10 foods you will eat. Well, pick a course and give it a good shot. It may take a few months for anything to make a difference. Good luck.
  17. I agree with this first. It's an easy thing to do for a couple of weeks. I am also a bit unclear - are you currently eating gluten-free? It sounds like you are. I can't believe a GI doctor said not to eat the same foods - that it would make you intolerant. That doesn't make sense. That is how we were designed to eat long ago. People ate a bunch...

  19. I was reading it and thinking I was going to have to hide it...... But it was just right!
  20. You can do that at Whole foods and it will seem normal.
  21. I had a lot of joint pain & swelling - hips, knees, wrists, shoulders. I started taking some gentle yoga classes and it has made me much more flexible and almost eliminated the joint pain. I actually started with a class for senior citizens because I was so " stiff". They had an opening and let me do it.
  22. I wouldn't trust the " no gluten in meats". They could have been marinated in beer or a soy sauce containing stuff. For this weekend, if you don't want to watch people eating, one option is to not go. I don't think that should be your strategy for your whole life, but maybe just for a few days. Tell people you aren't feeling well. One thing I do if...
  23. Good joke W1llow! Even tho I know better, I get kinda weirded out in the bread row. And when I see a bunch of gnats, I get itchy. Even if they aren't on me. Funny how the mind works.
  24. I personally own 1 lovely leather covered purse tape measure, 3 small plastic covered tape measure, multiple rulers and other tape measures. But, I always have to search for one when I need it.
