  1. This site has a lot of good info. And you can get a free " care package" which is fun. Open Original Shared Link this thread has some useful info -
  2. I think the company knows what the ingredients are better than us. If you mean Amaretto, I have had it.
  3. I would ask him "If you are diagnosing me with Celiac now, why are we doing the biopsy?" Because you should never go gluten-free before the endo. It only takes 5-10 day for minor villa damage to heal. If he misses the damage, will he say you don't have Celiac? I had blood work over 100 but chose to do the biopsy for a couple of reasons - I wanted to see...
  4. I would hope they would check for the other reasons for the endoscopy results. A GI might not check for all of those so you may need to check with your regular doctor to start that process.
  5. Open Original Shared Link we like Newmans Own pasta sauce but I am sure there are other brands that don't use high fructose corn syrup. Or you could make your own and freeze it in dinner size quantities.
  6. Perhaps you should ask your doctor about the medicine? Maybe he or she could refer you to a dietician for help with your weight loss. Just eating wheat free or even gluten free doesn't mean you will lose weight.
  7. You have already had your scope???? Open Original Shared Link
  8. How much positive was the blood work? Barely over normal could mean other things. It's possible to miss the damaged areas with a biopsy. also, they should be testing him because people with DS have a higher rate of Celiac. Google " Ds and Celiac". There are some studies. A good Children's hospital will know that.
  9. I think you need to go to your profile and enable the notifications.
  10. I didn't get why they are so good with gluten-free. Just because they change gloves? Do they change the oil? Use a separate sugar bin? Etc. Keep the gluten-free donuts away from non- gluten-free? I would ask some serious questions before eating them.
  11. What is your source? Boars head is gluten free. I eat it far too often!
  12. You changed your response while I was replying. Yes. the Univ Of Chicago is a site run by doctors who study and treat Celiac disease. It looked to me, based on your initial response that you didn't consider the U of C a source, that you weren't interested in legit medical info. if you haven't been tested for Celiac in a few years , you should...
  13. Huh? It's the FAQs section of the University of Chicago Celiac Center . That's the date they first put it on. They are some of the leading authorities and researchers of Celiac disease. They have made information about Celiac disease easy for everyone to understand on thier website. I don't understand how you can think a " podcast" about a blood...
  14. I put the link to the quote - The University of Chicago Celiac Center.
  15. It's pretty unlikely an MD will order " tests" from companies like Cyrex. You do them yourself and they aren't recognized by the medical community. but you seem to like the "controversial ;diagnosis your self at home " tests, but I feel like I need to remind you they aren't currently considered medically valid. for Celiac tests, a slightly low IGA...
  16. Do you have Celiac disease? If you do than, NO, you can't drink regular beer, etc. not reacting to the barley was just lucky. If you don't have Celiac....why not? Maybe you don't need to be gluten-free at all. Maybe whatever your issue was has resolved itself.
  17. I think it depends on what you are " allergic" to. Maybe ask for chips without your allergens? People can be allergic to anything. I would think plain chips would not have dairy, but maybe flavored one. Just potato, oil and salt.
  18. See if you still have it tomorrow. They put you on your side and you might have just pulled a muscle. Yes, I know it doesn't feel the same as when you pull a leg muscle - chest muscles don't. Obviously - if you can't breath; heart beats too fast, too slow, or stops; you have paralysis, or your arm falls off - then go to the emergency room!
  19. Open Original Shared Link Check out the Univ of Chicago Celiac Center site. A Weak positive in a child may not be Celiac Open Original Shared Link
  20. Slightly elevated blood test caused by other things. Open Original Shared Link
  21. How can you even tell a 5 month old is allergic to corn? He doesn't eat it. Do all those things cross over as a protein in breast milk? You eliminated all those things, one by one, to find out what he was allergic to?
  22. "gluten" is a high FODMAP food. So many people with FODMAP issues find that going gluten-free makes them feel better as a gluten-free diet eliminates a major FODMAP food. I think it is certainly worth a try, as it should make a difference quickly and is not as restrictive as a Celiac gluten-free diet. Some people find that after a short time on a low FODMAP...
  23. Why don't you look at FODMAPS? If that is the problem, you should find out really quickly on a low FODMAP diet - probably in a week or so. A low FODMAP diet is basically gluten free. The best part is that you don't have to be as strict. Crumbs shouldn't be a big deal. Open Original Shared Link
  24. Any doctor can blood test for Celiac. I am assuming your diabetic child has been testing negative for Celiac? Some clinics for kids with Type 1 will test siblings and parents for Celiac, too.
  25. As far as I have heard, they mean nothing. Sorry. Did she have actual Celiac blood tests? And was she eating gluten at the time? Open Original Shared Link "...ecause of this, we must make our decisions based on what hasbeen published; Harvard, UCSD, and the American College of Gastroenterology all agree that stool...
