  1. I don't know how you were diagnosed as there aren't any reliable "food sensitivity" tests. But, if you want to avoid corn, maybe just avoid the obvious stuff and not worry about if a pig ate corn or if Xantham was grown on corn (I don't think it is).

  9. I think I would be worried about a teacher that obviously doesn't know what gluten is. Never seen pickles with gluten. Sounds like the teacher just wanted to exclude the kid with the difficult parent? Maybe she probably felt that and the nervousness/anxiety made her feel sick.
  10. I think it depends on how clean you think you can get the machine and all its little crevices. If you think you can clean all the gluten out of it, maybe make a batch of gluten-free bread that you don't eat? To clean out the last bits of gluten dough?

  13. Where did you get this info? I have never had a problem with them. If you have actual proof that they are using an ingredient that isn't listed, you should report them to the FDA. But, according to the website and the ingredients, there is no gluten. And it would be very unlikely there is gluten being used in the plant.
  14. Often people cut out dairy for at least the first few months. Celiac damages the part of your intestines that helps you digest lactose. So that might help. Also, read the Newbie 101 thread for some ideas.
  15. That is a common reaction to amoxicillin. One of my sons has that problem. He is grown, and the last time he needed antibiotics I had him tell them that amoxicillin really makes him sick. They gave him a different one. You might tell the doctor about it. Also, sometimes taking with a little food, like some rice, Chex or applesauce can be helpful.
  16. Where do you get that info from? Wheat flour is made from the seed portion of wheat. Mini wheat cereal contains gluten in the form of wheat flour.

  21. They made a mistake and there was a recall. That was fixed, I hope. But they haven't changed their method of testing for gluten. So it appears they are still letting some boxes come through with more than 20 ppm. I understand that the FDA is getting on them about it. I don't think they are considered safe for Celiacs, yet.
