ARCHIVED Make up ingredients
kareng replied to TracyButler's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Wheat germ oil, stuff labelled wheat something ... maybe oats. It is only important that it be gluten-free if it goes in your mouth - like a lipstick. -
Corn tortillas are cheap in the US. They are just water and corn. I think the secret to making them is getting the right " grind" or texture of corn. Just saw this on my Facebook about flour substitutions. You might find this helpful Open Original Shared Link

I just realized that you said you won't eat eggs for some reason. You will have to use an replacer like chia and / or flax or " egg replacer". I don't know what a " China diet" is but I wonder why you feel the need to limit yourself so much and make life's harder than it needs to be. I guess if you are trying to eat like Chinese people did before modern...

I jĂąst buy corn tortillas. Not sure if you can where you live? Google some recipes. You need a bit more than tapioca and sorghum. You might want another starch like arrowroot and maybe some xantham gum, maybe flax seeds or some pectin. You may need to adjust the amount of " wet " ingredients. There are many goo recipes on line. you might ...

It is suggested to cut out dairy because lactose is hard to digest. With most lactose intolerance, you may find you don't have to avoid all dairy. You may be able to tolerate a small amount or some dairy items that have little to no lactose. Check "lactose intolerance" on the internet. For the salad dressings - maybe google "lactose free ranch...

How are they explaining the " near total blunting"? Because that is a medical finding they better be trying to figure out if they don't think it's from celiac. -
Don't put your food on the table? Keep it on a placemat, or in containers. Eat in your car? Eat at your desk? Go to a park on nicer days ( my son always ate in his car at the park , watching the ducks on the lake, just to get out of the office). Your enclosed lunch should be fine in the same fridge. Is this table very very tiny and people are eating...

ARCHIVED Vegan soy milk powder alternative for vegan cheese sauce
kareng replied to Adamjandro's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
There is a vegan place here that makes a cashew cheese sauce. Maybe try a cashew milk? Not sure if it comes powdered.... -
ARCHIVED Medications site to look up ingredients
kareng replied to Toritc's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for this! I think we have had this before. but its always good to re-visit this every few months. Its hard to find things on here that are old, sometimes, and new people are searching here all the time - so something "fresh" is helpful. -
ARCHIVED Chicken
kareng replied to doomedbyceliac's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think gluten in chicken broth is some sort of Internet myth. Some chicken is injected with water and salt. I try to only buy the chicken that isn't because we don't need that salt. Usually I get the kind our grocery has behind the counter that isn't injected with anything. -

Shouldn't hurt your plants if it's wheat straw. Maybe wash them before you eat them? If you have a skin/ contact allergy, You will want to be careful to keep covered - long sleeves and gloves. Maybe remove what straw you can? Or, because you seem to be allergic to it, maybe someone else could help you remove it? -

I don't see ANY test for Celiac. Did I just miss it? -
ARCHIVED What is it?
kareng replied to Unicorn fairy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The reason I asked if it was an actual MD that you saw, was because MDs usually don't run these unproven tests. If it were me, I wouldn't settle for this. And I would be mad because many insurance companies won't pay for this stuff., so you may be stuck paying for it. -
ARCHIVED What is it?
kareng replied to Unicorn fairy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If it is just an odd way of saying a tTg IGA, you might still want a full panel. But a positive Celiac test needs further investigation by a GI doctor that may include a full celiac panel and an endoscopy. It would not mean just a little sensitivity to gluten. -

kareng replied to Crysvicca's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It means you have Celiac disease. Sounds like your doctors have told you that, too. But it also sound like Celiac might not be the whole problem and that you have some more severe health issues. You can not expect a gluten free diet to take care of lymphoma and what ever else is wrong. But, not being gluten-free will certainly add extra health issues... -

ARCHIVED Are Kashi Gluten Free Waffles safe?
kareng replied to Forman337's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I didn't know they made gluten-free waffles. Why not ask the company what they do to make sure they are gluten-free - testing? Segregated manufacturing, etc. when you find out, please come back and post the answers. there seems to be some odd labeling law, or maybe it's some companies interpretation - but they aren't supposed to add extra...- 8 replies

ARCHIVED Celiac Testing
kareng replied to Fbmb's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
When it's that high, it almost always means Celiac. Sure, you can have Crohns, too. Just like you can have Celiac and diabetes, the common cold or a hang nail. I wouldn't jump to Chrohns. I don't think the tTg really has anything to do with Chrohns? Where did you see that? Sometimes, a slightly elevate tTg can be elevated from other issues, but >...
