  1. I can't speak specifically to the regular brats, but we use Johnsonville Original Breakfast Sausage regularly without any problems. It is my understanding that they won't hide gluten, but I have not been able to find confirmation of that policy. The only ones I know to not be gluten-free are the beer brats (from the beer).
  2. Emily, great news about Elsie. Somehow I just knew Will would come around to seeing this your way. Occasionally I am an optimist. Which reminds me... To an optimist, the glass is half-full. To a pessimist, the glass is half-empty. To an engineer, the glass is the wrong size. The biggest excitement in my life today was repainting the...
  3. I seem to remember one I heard about twenty years ago from my boss at the time. A young man was considering marriage and was talking with his girl friend's father about it. He says, "I'm in love with your daughter, and want to ask for her hand in marriage." Her father says, "I feel that I must tell you that my daughter has acute angina." ...
  4. Reactions vary. My first indication is usually in 8 to 12 hours when my blood sugar level crashes. Cramps and diarrhea follow and last for at least another 24 to 48 hours. It takes about a week for visible symptoms to disappear, but I know that the autoimmune reaction takes longer than that to fully subside.
  5. Yes, modified tapioca starch is gluten-free.
  6. You think, and I hope. If it does come to pass, I agree that each should have their own bowls, though as they compete for alpha-dog status they may issue challenges by eating out of the other bowl. Neither one can be allowed to achieve alpha-dog position. At all times, the alpha-dog must be a sentient biped. You are the clear first choice for this role...
  7. Hello, all, Happy Birthday Sarah! I'm not really up to the kind of phancy graphics that Emily does. =^..^= We'll have to settle for that little kitty. Hillbilly vasectomy!
  8. dragonsrebel, welcome. This is a fun place to be. Your story about the job of being mom is great. We share funny things, and things about our daily lives here in Sillyville. This is the second-longest continuing thread on the forum, and one day we hope to catch up to the front-running OMG (Rachelville) thread. In the meantime, we are number two and so...
  9. Both of those positions have merit, so you must make a decision that is right for you: 1. If you have had celiac disease for a long time, then it will take a long time to heal. If you have been experiencing the the autoimmune reaction for years, another week or two to adjust won't make much difference. 2. If you have had celiac disease for a long time...
  10. Knorr will clearly disclose gluten. If you don't see it listed by the name of the grain, it isn't there. Caramel color is not a concern.
  11. Yes, it could be something in the wine itself.
  12. I missed this when it first came up. I don't know of any wine that has gluten. It is not something that I worry about. There is nothing in the packaging of a boxed wine that would contain gluten. The components are derived from wood pulp and petroleum (plastic). It is possible that you had a reaction to something in either the wine itself or the...
  13. This is developing into a desperate situation. In case of escalation, do you have some Altoids handy? I believe that the optimum quantity is two, according to Karen (who has been missing for a while). Times tables for the number 17--I didn't know that was the conversion factor. In my undiagnosed days I had trouble communicating with people in the...
  14. A Royal welcome to Lisa on her return to Sillyville. Emily must get her desired standard poodle to give Gus a canine companion. We must find ways to wear down the resistance. All sillies who can offer ideas are asked to post them for Emily to see. Will must be assimilated into the Silliness.
  15. Manda, I'm hoping they caught this early, and can get to it before it spreads. Susan will be in my thoughts.
  16. Sheesh! Oracle alone was a challenge. Now I have to be manly too? Ah, 'tis only for 100 pages, or 1,500 posts, or, a long time. Unless I get Pattied like the last ruler. Emily, you must work on Will regarding the new dog. You need to get him when he is trying to do something. Then it goes something like this: E: Hi, honey, I'm home! Did you miss...
  17. I'm back from running errands, and it is so nice here that I'm sitting out on the deck (accompanied by four feline friends).
  18. The genetic factor alone does not create celiac disease. Many people have the gene without ever developing the autoimmune reaction. It is generally understood that a trigger of some kind is needed to activate the disease in a person who is genetically susceptible. Obviously, gluten is also required for the reaction to occur--that is why the gluten-free...
  19. The spelling "Cafe Baldo" gets past the filter, but "Caffe xxx" gets caught and replaced. Again, I don't know why. Some things are blocked because of past spam, but the replacement text for those names is "Lame Advertisement." I expect that Scott will respond, but he usually takes the weekend off. Running this site, as well as the other two, is his business...
  20. Hello, all. Not much happening here, except that the sun is shining after several days gloom and rain. Cool, but warming up. Good news about your tree, Emily. Carry on.
  21. Open Original Shared Link
  22. The board is set to automatically replace the name you typed with the other name. There a quite a few such rules. As Patti said, only Scott would be able to explain this one. Another moderator has already sent him a message asking about it.
  23. Wait for it, it will come. The folks who think ethanol is a cleaner fuel don't understand the the energy used to create the ethanol is more than the energy that the ethanol provides. At the same time, ethanol is made from crops that would otherwise be used as food. Hey, what a fan-f***ing-tastic idea: let's turn food into motor fuel. I don't know...
  24. Pam is gluten-free, except for one specific formula labeled "Pam for Baking" that contains wheat flour. The other ones are canola oil without any additives that contain anything to worry about.
  25. It could be something other than gluten. Kraft Zesty Italian is gluten-free, but I get a nasty reaction to it. I use Kraft Golden Italian frequently without issues, but have burning and heartburn if I touch the zesty stuff. I guess that for me is is just too zesty.
