  1. I was very nervous, too, and had breezed through life avoiding invasive procedures. But my greatest fear turned out to be fear itself. I didn't feel a thing although I was loopy afterwards...nor do I remember anything about the procedure. I didn't even have a sore throat afterwards. It's a short procedure so it's over before you know it. I was really...
  2. Our local Wal-Mart has Snyder's but for me they are "break your teeth" crunchy but then I've had tons of dental work done in my lifetime. I much prefer Glutino Sesame Pretzel Rings. Too yummy to keep on hand though.
  3. YES!!! Like mother, like daughter!!!
  4. I love your feisty spunky 84-year old Mom!!!
  5. Could you use your family's special recipe and just substitute gluten-free bread?
  6. I sure do remember you, Marc. I hope you're putting that new KA mixer to good use!!!

  9. When I was in Wal-Mart today, I bought StarKist Selects Solid White Albacore Tuna in water. It's in the can with the gold label. Ingredients: White meat tuna, water, salt, pyrophosphate. From Open Original Shared Link Pyrophosphate is a common food grade additive used in a variety of products from chicken nuggets to toothpaste. It

    ARCHIVED I'm Back!

Not to mention the usual...dredging up old threads from 2004. ETA: Also sending my congratulations on your new baby!!!
  11. One of my favorite desserts is Open Original Shared Link from the King Arthur website. I've made it several times but only when I'm providing dessert for friends. It is very rich and serves 12. Another one is flourless peanut butter cookes (using just 3 ingredients): 1 cup peanut butter (either smooth or chunky) 1 cup sugar 1 egg I use a cookie...
  12. Pizza (homemade, of course)
  13. There are no tests available that are sensitive enough to test for zero ppm. People can develop sensitivities to most anything. BRM gluten-free products are manufactured in a facility that also processes gluten-free oats. And those who have problems with oats could very well react to BRM gluten-free flours.
  14. While I don't have a bread maker, a lot of people do like them (some do have a gluten-free cycle or they can be programmed for just one rise). I debated between it and a KitchenAid stand mixer. I bought the mixer since I thought it would be more versatile...and I don't have room for both.
  15. CeraVe is available in both lotion and cream...I can get it at my local Wal-Mart.
  16. You might want to google gluten-free veggie burgers and I bet you'll come up with a number of recipes.
  17. I'm in south central Pennsylvania so no altitude problems here. I'm really puzzled as to why the recipe did not work for me especially after seeing others results.
  18. I'm having the same problem. The batter/dough was really *gloppy*, more so than any other recipe I've tried. I didn't add flaxseed meal although I do like it. Followed the recipe exactly using KA flour, which I'm now out of. I baked it in a 9x4x4" pan (from King Arthur). So I am also puzzled as to how some people can get it to rise so nicely.
  19. What are you wanting to make? I've never heard of yeast flakes. Is the recipe calling for nutritional yeast?
  20. It seems we become even more sensitive to lots of things after being gluten-free for awhile. And it's difficult to figure out.
  21. Generally speaking, gluten-free bread is not kneaded. At least I've never found a recipe that calls for it. Sadly, I am still looking for that *perfect* recipe.
  22. I've used it without a problem. You may be reacting to one of the ingredients. I'm pretty sure the Progresso corn chowder has milk in it (I don't have any on hand to check the label). Do you react to dairy? You're pretty new yet to eating gluten-free so it may be difficult to figure out as our bodies get pretty wonky at times.
  23. I believe they test to <20 ppm and from reading the forum, it's manufactured in a facility that also process gluten-free oats. There is no test for zero ppm in gluten-free products.

  25. My celiac blood tests were done by Quest, which is the lab my local hospital uses for tests that are not done in-house. My daughter, who lives in Denver, goes to LabCorp and she also was positive for celiac.
