  1. this blog was just posted to my twitter feed the other day about family support: Open Original Shared Link as i was out and about and it came to my blackberry i e-mailed it to myself JUST FOR THIS CONVO! i don't know how much will help, but support is support is support
  2. my 1st symptoms were actually the lactose intolerance more than a decade ago - but all my allergy testing tested negative and "they" said it was in my head or IBS i have friends w/ IBS - it's NOT the same my 2nd symptoms were the wheat & then yeast - again, they said IBS (though this time my allergy testing went off the charts) i first cut out...
  3. unfortunately the old pans COULD be your source of CC i used this as an (expensive - i admit it) excuse to buy new pans (the ones that were still in good condition i donated to my local good will and got a tax receipt for - some other cooking supplies i traded w/ a friend who is very supportive for - as she needs new she goes through my "glutened" supplies...
  4. even at the best stores i won't - and not even for the fear of CC from gluten to the fruits, but from CC BETWEEN fruits (pineapple could kill me) even the best stores are only as good as their weakest link and my health is too important. plus - you never know what other customers leave at the counter - i've seen people put stuff in those containers...
  5. i had gone gluten-free and then had to "add it in" for both the blood work & the biopsy i came up negative on both tests but i have the same vomit issue that you do. (example - last night i had something made by someone else.... i woke up in the middle of the night vomiting.) some of the items i do have positive allergy test results for some...
  6. well candida almost killed me - so did wheat, so if you husband wants you dead then he's on the right track if he keeps this up. i'm dealing w/ this alone in my home, but when i "go home" to my family it was a fight at first - especially w/ my mom. she would hear but not LISTEN so then she would feed me exactly what i COULDN'T eat. normally she is the...
  7. personal experience, i'm also allergic to yeast.... so i have yet to find a bread that i'm ok w/ is the company GLUTEN FREE as a company? or could there be cross contamination from the factory? is there soy in it? many people w/ gluten sensitivities are also sensitive to soy when you make your own bread, are you using 100% non-contaminated materials...
  8. with all due respect (thank you jerseyangel for the appropriate words i just used) your doctor is an idiot. there many of us have family links to gluten allergies or insensitivity that have never been diagnosed, but when you lay out the symptoms they are EXACTLY the same. my grandmother, nor great grandmother, ever had a gluten insensitivity diagnosis...
  9. i just got copies of all of my medical records because i'm moving. there are so many signs in there pointing to Celiac and none of the other crackpot diagnosis SO ANNOYING
  10. my dr doesnt even diagnosis IBS because he feels it's really a "catchall" diagnosis when there is something else wrong but the insurance company doesn't want to pay for more expensive tests. by following the gluten-free/cf/sf diet, my "ibs" symptoms have all but disappeared
  11. i am a HUGE dairy lover... and it's my worst enemy - casein is a protein found in animal milk. the other is whey protein (it's that liquid that has separated and is found on top when you open a carton of yogurt that you mix back in.) at this point, my body can't process either and as an athlete this is tough (whey and casein protein shakes & supplements...
  12. gluten intolerance - there is discomfort, but once it passes through the body, you are fine gluten allergy - similar symptoms felt but a different response internally Open Original Shared Link celiac - the villi in the intestines are damaged and yes, your break down for pronunciation is fine (there are a number of variations but yours is what i usually...
  13. couldn't have said it any better than Magpie we all have "i should have known" moments we all have dealt w/ ineffective doctors we all feel like our health issue have become the big elephant in our family lives but we are also, all in this together *looking around for my own slice of pumpkin ribbon bread*
  14. how offensive - i'll make sure to never purchase their foods & i am sending this to all my friends who are amazing in their accommodations for me when i visit to make sure this is on the "do not buy" list. i'd love for them to experience one of our "stomach aches" and then re-send that w/ a straight face.
  15. ummmm.... did you also get yourself some new pans? GOOD LUCK!
  16. sounds like you need a GP! (i know, not what you want to here, & i'm sure you already figured that out) please note, i am NOT one for meds, but it sounds like your dr would rather be a pill pusher instead of someone interested in expanding their knowledge. if you are stuck w/ your gp, see if instead of a pain killer if they will give you a muscle...
  17. episom salt baths sometime help me for the joint pain not too many pain meds work - i can't take aspirin or ibuprofen. i avoid acetaminophen except for dire emergencies - especially since it doesn't really work. i tend to just nap when i can and try to sleep it off - though the falling asleep part tends to be a problem (i keep piles of partly read...
  18. eveyone is different, but if you are positive for celiac then you will need to cut out the gluten however, if you are like me, and it's a WHEAT issue, then if you cheat then you deal w/ the consequences but it's not as life threatening as if you had celiac even if it IS ceilac, there are plenty of options out there to work with, especially since...
  19. i actually had the pleasure of meeting anna from anna's breads @ a month ago at an autism conference (i'm a service provider) and today she posted this link: Open Original Shared Link i hope it doesn't get nixed... anyway, it has a great list that the author used when she went to a family get together. i though it might be helpful
  20. have to say i agree w/ kayo - every tempura recipe i have ever seen uses flour
  21. eveyone is different call the gastro before you make any other changes. the amt of gluten time on/off is thought to be one factor others look at an ingestion:body weight ratio (one number i was told by a physician was that you need to eat .5grams PER KG of body weight - THAT's A LOT of GLUTEN). the fact is, there just isn't a definitive...
  22. i'm w/ roda you did everything right and they did what they wanted i would have sent it back. you didn't even ask for a complicated accommodation. the gurgling - since they didn't follow your request even w/ your allergy card, you may have had some CC - or you could have just stressed yourself out. if it looks like you may be in this type...
  23. i get it do you also experience heartburn? my dr put me on an rx (as opposed to me taking tums all day) or an over the counter. i was up to taking it 2x's a day. when i had my upper endoscopy they looked for GERD. fortunatly i don't have GERD but i do have scarring from the acid reflux i was told to add a number of foods to my "forbidden...
  24. often times the blood work gives false negatives i had the scope - and while the dr didn't find damaged villi representing celiac, (i had already started to go wheat free prior to the scope) he was able to see OTHER damage and thus I am now following the diet. in truth, i don't do well w/ most "invasive" medical procedures (pretty much anything dealing...
  25. Hi & Welcome! If all my "issues" are connected, then I probably started to be symptomatic @ 5 years ago when i was diagnosed with Migraines & Meniers. Then I was re-diagnosed as "just" having Vestibular Migraines. Around the same time, I was 1st urged to ditch wheat & dairy from my diet due to gut bloating. I FELT MUCH BETTER - but...
