  1. Can you substantiate this, please? I believe it's a rumor and no manufacturers have said anything about belts with gluten when we have written and asked about CC.
  2. With a TSH at 0.1 and still hypothyroid symptoms I think you need to ask for an endocrinologist referral. If she refuses that, insist on a second opinion within the practice group you're seeing. The combination of transglutaminase antibodies and villous damage is the "gold standard" for diagnosing celiac. It is a different part of milk than the allergenic fraction, so it is NOT related to milk allergy. For you, casein may be working just like gluten.   10. I don't think it's ever polite to eat something in front of another person and decline to share. That's just me. I only get out gluten-free things I'm willing to share when I have company over, like corn chips or inexpensive rice crackers. If I'm the one doing the cooking, the whole meal will be gluten-free. It's just easier all around.
  11. I don't know about the carmel apples. I've found flour in carmel sometimes and the ones at the fair never have ingredients. I get candy apples, the ones that have the red hard candy glaze on them. I've never seen gluten in a candy apple recipe.

  13. Your Dr. is offering good advice to follow up with GI doc. Anti-gliadin probably means you're gluten sensitive but you might not have damage or autoimmunity. You probably need a biopsy to figure out what's going on. Good luck!

  15. Unlikely to have something is not the same as no chance at all. About 1 in 100 celiacs don't have the common genes.
  16. Sounds to me like your thyroid isn't as regulated as you think it is. Tired + weight gain = hypothyroid. All our endocrine glands are tied together, so your insulin response may be "off" as well. Unfortunately, many doctors blindly treat hypothyroidism to "normal" TSH instead of looking at your symptoms.

  19. No, celiac is an autoimmune reaction triggered by gluten. Nobody breaks down gluten completely, but it doesn't cause problems in non-celiacs. In celiacs cells with the DQ2 and DQ8 genes get hold of the poorly broken down bits of gluten and teach the immune system that gluten is an invader.   23. Without the genes you are most likely gluten intolerant. There isn't a test for that other than response to the diet. You could gluten yourself up and get the biopsy if you're really curious but it may come back negative. Remember that your doctor does not control your diet. It's fine to stay gluten-free and simply not tell him.
