  1. I don't mean to sound like my Wendy's Chili story again, but I know people who worked at the Tyson processing plant in Corydon (IN) it's right near here, and you couldn't pay me a million dollars to eat a piece of Tyson chicken. And I'm not even talking about gluten, just..... eeewwww eeeewwwww eeeewwwwwwwwwwwwww.
  2. Yeah, that other piccy of me bothers me, I don't like it cuz it looks all stuffy and prim and proper, that don't look like me at all, I'm a big ol' mess LOL, i got this vision of me at my daughter's house in one of those big white decontamination suits with a big, yellow gas mask on , "ok, add one teaspoon of baking powder...." that just struck me...
  3. These answers, "testimonials", if you will... are very helpful to me and I'm sure to others reading them as well. thank you all.
  4. I was wondering this myself, cuz a friend of my mom's was recently told that she's allergic to beef. I'd never heard of that before. I had wondered if it was gluten from the cows eating grains, but I guess not!
  5. Good Sunday Morning everyone So, my mom is lactose and casein intolerant BIG TIME, bless her heart. I started making her homemade biscotti and boy she loves them, they're a real treat for her and I make sure they are safe for her. the last ones I made were Dark Chocolate with Pecans. I have the the stuff to make her almond ones now, but ......
  6. I can drink Canadian Mist, but not beer. Could it be that the pie was just too rich cuz you haven't had anything that "good" for a long time, I mean, I don't know if that makes sense.....
  7. Maybe she can give you something? I feel just awful for ya.....can you just eat a tiny bit of gluten? Wouldn't work for me, I'd still be sick, but geez...can she give you something to help some of the symptoms? You should ask her, six weeks, that's a long time.
  8. Thank you Kareng and Kareng's SIL for this information. Now I understand and it makes perfect sense. They did take the first one and looked at it before they had me drink the orange stuff, and I wondered about that too. Thank you all so much for all this, I really really appreciate it. Oh yes and I forgot to mention that they are sending my gluten...
  9. I sleep much much better than I used to. And I awake at about 5AM. I used to have 2 beers before bed, because I was under the notion that made me sleep better. But I sleep more soundly now. And dreams....notsomuch.
  10. we call it "jimmy legs" and I had that about one week out of every month. The week I stopped gluten I had it TERRIBLY! for about three nights but then it quit altogether.
  11. So I'm spending my Saturday night with my Grandbabies. So I made them a pizza and they ate that, then we made popcorn and watched Toy Story then we made ice cream cones and watched Toy Story 2. The whole night, the oldest kept saying "you're not very busy" and I'm running around, doing this and that, clean up that mess, make a new one, etc. "you're...
  12. Well this gluten topic just keeps getting more interesting. I don't know whether to scratch my watch or wind my butt at this point. I come from a heavy Irish background. Born with green eyes and red hair. And I have had the same yeast infection that won't go away. Yeah, I've had that since February when all these other symptoms started. Another thing...
  13. Hey hon, I have had a really bad week, I'm surprised they haven't said I'm posting too much this week! Have you all ever seen the movie Somethings Gotta Give with Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson? Diane Keaton goes on and on crying and crying until it becomes comical. It's one of my favorite scenes ever. That's what I've been doing all week, and let...
  14. Well, IMHO, your husband, "john" has class. All my family lives near each other and we don't really send sympathy cards cuz we're all there at the house, etc., . I don't know if it's a Southern thing, but around here we wait until 2-3 weeks after the "event" and send a card or bring something over to eat, whatever, cuz after all the "hoopla" is over...
  15. Well, the way I look at it, if God didn't make it.....if you can't pull it out of the ground or off of a tree, or squeeze it out of a cow, it's processed. But, that's just me......
  16. You had fainting spells? Can you please post some more about that? Also, what is nightshade?
  17. A response I got about the generic valium they've told me to take. I know others have wondered/posted about this also: Thank you for contacting Mylan. Your email was received and two attempts were made to reach you by phone on 06/11/2010. In response to your question regarding the gluten content of Mylan's diazepam tablets, 5 mg (orange, round, scored...
  18. So tell all of us rookies, all you veterans out there, how long did it take you to figure out what was wrong? How many doctors did you go through? How many tests did you have? How frustrated were you? Did you think they'd never ever figure it out? Was it a really bad roller coaster trip? Were there times you got just downright depressed...
  19. well, I had an episode on Monday - a BAD one, and then I had another one yesterday that scared me so bad I went to the ER. I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia a long time ago, and pretty much forgot about all that but it seems to have snuck back in after I started the gluten-free diet, which made me quit having other kinds of episodes! When I got there...
  20. I had no idea that sticky things would have gluten in them. I'm thinking along the lines of when you're making homemade biscuits, what do you do to keep the dough from sticking together? Put flour on your hands! That makes no sense to me. In the world of all this hidden gluten everywhere, though, it makes perfect sense cuz it's like some kind of a monster...
  21. I went in this morning for my tests. I got three hormone tests, the 5 hour glucose and a celica antibody panel. I actually loved that orange drink. Now, long story, I've been 23 hours with no food. I ate a bag of fritos after my last blood draw and some coke. So I have bruises and tape all over, and this was at the beginning of the glucose draws...
  22. Yeah, my family got a big kick outta that one! Your brain is normal - ? girl, please!
  23. I wasn't thinking that I actually have celiac. I was thinking that I'm gluten intolerant. I thought that's what the blood tests I'm getting are for - ? I'm so confused at this point .....
  24. Ok so my doctor was 25 if he was a day old. The interesting thing (person) was the triage nurse. She was all of 20, but when I got there she asked me what I'd eaten and I told her what I had for breakfast then I told her a frozen chicken breast and bbq sauce and she said "oh, you're a celiac?" So they gave me an IV and drew a lot of blood. Then...
