ARCHIVED The Funny Pages - Tickle Me Elbow - The Original

That's a great summer job for high schooler! My first summer job when I was 16 paid $4.75 an hour. I thought that was good pay at the time, LOL! It kept gas in my car anyway and still was enough I could save some. Of course gas was under a dollar a gallon back then. -

Never heard of Elvis cookies, but that sounds good! I bet the basic cookie recipe would work with sunflower butter too for people allergic to peanuts. -

It WAS delicious! My crust did not quite workout the same as the recipe. It was more like dumplings on top than a crust. it was good though. My husband declared it the BEST chicken pot pie he has EVER had and I have not made chicken pot pie for around two years (well before going gluten-free). I could not even taste the coconut milk. Success! -

Hey, whatever works for you! I have trouble motivating myself to eat a good breakfast. I'm just never hungry in the morning. If I don't eat breakfast I won't be hungry until around 10 or 11 AM. I'm hoping this thread will give me the motivation to eat better breakfasts. -

This thread is from 2006. As the pp mentioned if you don't have a topical reaction you probably don't need to worry about it. I have topical reactions however (due to a wheat allergy) and do try to look into everything so I understand why you would ask. You will probably get better (and more up-to-date) answers by contacting the manufacturer directly. -
ARCHIVED Question About Lactose Intolerance
GlutenFreeManna replied to Greenling's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
If you are sure it's not causing any reaction than it's okay to keep it, IMO. What you might try doing is dropping the protein powder (along with all dairy) for just two weeks and then trying the protein powder again when you are feelign good to be sure that you have no reaction. It may be something where it only makes you feel a little off, but you wouldn... -
ARCHIVED Food Allergy Testing?
GlutenFreeManna replied to WinterSong's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It sounds like what your are describing is more like intolerances than allergies. There are not really accurate tests for food intolerances. I think the only intolerance tests they can do are for lactose and fructous. Those are breath tests I believe, but I'm not sure on the accuracy of those tests. I had allergy tests done because i was having anaphylactic... -
ARCHIVED Normal Blood Work, But....
GlutenFreeManna replied to JustAGirl79's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
How careful are you about cross-contamination? Many people get more sensitive to small amounts of cc after going gluten-free. It's possible that you are getting enough to keep you sick but not enough for the damage to show up on tests yet. It's easy for the biopsy to miss small amounts of damage if you are only getting a little bit of gluten. And the... -
ARCHIVED How Do You Handle Your Child's Birthday Party?
GlutenFreeManna replied to alex11602's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm so sorry you are having to deal with people like that. I would be tempted to tell them that if they were going to be so concerned about what they were eating instead of coming celebrate the birthday girl that they can stay at home as their gift to her. What kind of selfish people worry about what they will eat at a child's birthday party when it isn... -
ARCHIVED Hit A Ceiling For Recovery, Maybe Even Taken A Step Back
GlutenFreeManna replied to UpbeatPete's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Have you had your vitamin and mineral levels checked? You may be deficient in something. Some common ones to have checked are vitamin D, Vitamin B12, iron, calcium, potassium, and zinc. B12 is important for helping with brain fog and vitamin D deficiency could make you have that joint pain. Since you have dropped most of the processed items which are... -
ARCHIVED Question About Lactose Intolerance
GlutenFreeManna replied to Greenling's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
With lactose, it's possible that a little bit is okay for you but eating all those things at once was too much. When I was just lactose intolerant I had that problem. I could get away with a little cheese or butter about twice a week but if I ate dairy in multiple forms I would pay for it. Of the things you ate, the milk is the highest in lactose. The... -

I had a similar experience as you only I tried pizza about a month after going gluten free to test it. The pizza tasted disgusting! It should have been good, my husband said it was good, but the crust was gross to me not like I remembered it. the next day I had joint pain and a migraine headache so bad I couldn't get out of bed. The only way to describe... -

I've never had my grits sweet. One of these days I will have to try it. Ever since I had to give up dairy, grits are just not the same without lots of butter and cheese. I usually just put salt and pepper on them now. -

ARCHIVED What's For Breakfast Today?
GlutenFreeManna posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I know the topic of breakfast comes up a lot. I'm NOT asking for suggestions. I want this to be a thread like the "what's for dinner tonight" thread where we share what we ACTUALLY eat for breakfast every morning. Along the way we will probably get new suggestions, recipes and ideas by seeing what everyone eats. Today I had half of a left over baked... -
ARCHIVED Three Questions
GlutenFreeManna replied to waterlily-'s topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Sorry. It varies from person to person. The main way to tell is to by having a repeat biospy in 6 months to a year, if that is how you were diagnosed. You can also have the blood tests redone to see if antibodies decrease and if your initial vitamin and mineral panels are low then you can know if you are absorbing vitamins again when they are back to normal... -

My throat gets really itchy and I break out in hives if I eat mushrooms. I have to take a benedryl and the next day my face will be puffy so I know I'm still reacting a little. Fortunately I have never had so much swelling from them I have to go to the ER. And the itching always alerts me before it gets to bad. Sorry Mushroom! You just make me itch,... -

I agree with kareng. This doctor could be a quack. Any dr that is telling you to avoid all those foods for the rest of your life but doesn't explain the testing or what he is diagnosing you with is suspicious. It IS possible to have many food allergies but they should have told you what type of allergy testing they were doing and what the results said... -
