  1. Thanks, both of you, for your kind replies. Yes, I've seen that movie and it is pretty funny, even when Diana Keaton won't stop crying...
  2. I've been suffering from yeast infections (the female kind) since I was 13. There have been times when I've had chronic yeast infections for months. I would use all these creams, etc, but they kept coming back. I've tried eating less sugar. But I'm really suspicious if this is a symptom of celiac disease, which I was just diagnosed with last month. There...
  3. I've had problems with chronic yeast infections since I was 13 years old. In some cases, I would have infections for months without being able to get rid of them. It was hell. I'm wondering if that's one thing that caused me to get vulvodynia. I'm assuming the constant yeast infections can be another symptom of celiac disease?
  4. On May 4, I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease (based on my symptoms, blood test results and stomach biopsy). Since then, I've been on a strict gluten free diet (although I'm sure I've made some mistakes...but I don't get "sick" like others say when they eat something bad. However, my symptoms haven't improved and I just wonder how long it will take until...
  5. Yes. In fact, most people with gluten intolerance DO NOT have Celiac disease. Read "Better without wheat." This book puts a lot of emphasis on people with gluten intolerance who don't have Celiac. Unfortunately, people with gluten intolerance (but not celiac disease) have an even harder time being diagnosed because doctors know so much less about this than...
  6. I have been diagnosed with celiac disease since May 4. Since then, I've had several (probably 5 or 6) days of crying spells. They don't generally last real long and they often times just come out of the blue (so to say). I've been stressed out with some other things in my life lately, too, so this might be part of it. And these crying spells generally don...
  7. I feel like my restless legs have improved a bit, but can't figure out if it's that I'm taking sleeping pills or what. I also notice that RL is a very cyclical thing for me. The worst few nights that I have RL are right before my period. Anyone else experience this?
  8. I'm wondering if other people have used agave syrup much in their baking. I'm thinking of getting "the gluten free almond flour cookbook" (Elana's pantry) but have heard complaints that agave syrup is worse than sugar. I made a recipe of hers' the other night and used some agave syrup, but found them to be much too sweet. Is there any advantages to using...
  9. I just bought a June/July copy of this magazine. Looks like a pretty decent publication. Does anyone else have an opinion about this publication?
  10. I'm thinking of subscribing to the "Gluten Free Living" magazine. However, I was not able to find any for sale in my town (Champaign, Illinois). I looked this publication up on Amazon and it sounds like people have really mixed feelings about this magazine. Please give me your honest opinion: is this magazine worth subscribing to? Is the information helpful...
  11. Shortly after I wrote this, I saw that it was labeled "gluten free" on the jar. Sometimes it's really hard to spot this pertinent info, isn't it? By the way, it's Walgreens calcium citrate plus magnesium.
  12. Does anyone know if Calcium Citrate is a problem? I read the ingredient label and it said it had "starch." However, it didn't specify what kind of starch. Please let me know!
  13. Glutino cheese crackers: awful! My friend and I think they taste like dogfood!
  14. Sounds like vulvodynia. Please looks up this topic, there is more info on this in other forum threads.
  15. I have this condition (was diagnosed in 1997) and definitely have a problem with foods high in oxalic acid. For me, when I pee it burns really bad, and often I burn for hours afterwards. It also causes a lot of external itching and irritation.
  16. I've also been to Iceland twice and will be going again at the end of this month. However, I just got diagnosed with celiac disease a month ago, so I wasn't on this diet the last 2 times I went. I'll also be going to Finland (my 2nd time) and Estonia. I'll be staying in Reykjavik mainly.
  17. In a few weeks, I'll be traveling to Iceland, Finland and Estonia. Does anyone know of any specifically gluten-free restaurants/cafes in these countries, specifically Reykjavik, Helsinki, Turku, Tampere and Tallinn? I know Finland is supposed to be pretty advanced in their knowledge about Celiac disease. Any help would be appreciated.
  18. Does anyone know if Contadina pizza sauce is gluten free? I've had this pizza sauce in my cabinet for some time and didn't find it listed in the TriumphDining gluten-free grocery guide.
  19. You might have an allergy to oxalic acid. I do. For me, it causes tiny crystals in my bladder and when I pee, it burns like hell, not to mention for hours afterwards. You might also want to check out the thread on vulvodynia in the related conditions section. I just stumbled accross this thread and it caught my attention. I am not yet diagnosed with celiac...
  20. what do you mean by saying that vulvodynia is a bs diagnosis? Can you please elaborate?
  21. Oh, man, I hope this doesn't happen to me. But i've been on the gluten-free diet for almost a month and am just feeling hungry all the time, plus constantly craving sweets, baked goods, etc. And I have been feeling more exhausted lately. Besides that I haven't been feeling better yet. I hope all of this eventually pays off. I'm worried I will start gaining...
  22. i, too, am just feeling hungry all the time, as well as having constant cravings for foods, esp. sweets and baked goods. I'm hoping I don't gain weight, but I probably will. I've noticed this increase in appetite is more intense as time goes one. I've been on the gluten-free diet for nearly 1 month now. I'm a bit overwhelmed and don't know if it's more psychological...
  23. PrincessHungry; it sounds like the so called doctors who dismiss your vulvodynia as something you're making up are full of crap. Unfortunately, there are a lot of doctors who still have this mentality, especially with women. That it must be psychological, they are overreacting, etc. The best thing to do is to keep searching for a doctor who is more sensitive...
  24. I, too, have had sinus problems for the last few years. Not so much sinus infection, but more like allergies to pollen. My face and nose will get a lot of pressure, which can be very uncomfortable, as well as headaches. Sometimes I also get some pain around my teeth (more sinuses). I was tested for allergies several years ago and came out negative, rather...
