  1. Bingley *is* missing his Mommy but my tender-hearted husband is working from home to bond and take care of him. Or, as my husband says, "gotch and socks with my boy". Guys. Are. Weird. Bingley loves to wrestle. I just don't do it right!
  2. Wow! Nice to be missed. When I am out at the acreage, I bring about 20,906,452 books and read my face off. Just me, Snowflake the cat and Cooper the dog, a stunning log house, trillions of birds and gazillions of trees. Oh, and 452,009,785,478 mosquitoes happily buzzing around my face and prancing around my eyeballs.
  3. I am making a big batch of Bolognese to go with homemade millet and buckwheat pasta. Am dog/house sitting and came into town to cook. We will have roasted fennel. Blueberries for dessert.
  4. What else is on the package of Bob's? Is it an AP blend? I do a lot of baking and use many flours for different purposes.
  5. Very true. It is a matter of seeing the bigger picture.
  6. I am more fond of the flakes than the grain. I use the flour in all sorts of baking.
  7. Yes! They are truly generous.
  8. This would be deplorable indeed.
  9. Though I agree this disease can downright suck at times, I choose not to view it as a disability. If I did, I would likely fixate on it, feel sorry for myself and feel very wretched indeed. Not a good path for me to take. There are times of inconvenience such as long flight delays but thankfully have never felt discriminated against. Thankfully I am a...
  10. Yum! Sounds great. All this pizza talk has given me a craving. Must get my pizza stone out and make me some dough.
  11. Don't you just love frozen grapes?
  12. Like Adelaide, I roast tomatoes with red onion, garlic cloves and a bit of carrot then puree and reduce. Add fresh torn (not chopped) basil on top of sauce. Some of my sauces are complex but pizza sauce need not be. Oh, then I top with buffalo milk mozzarella if I can find it as it is creamy and flavourful. Sometimes I simply make a Bianca (white) pizza...
  13. Mango raspberry and lime smoothie with coconut milk.
  14. No, we live in a wee cold pocket in northern Alberta. The summer days are glorious and long! Sunrise is 4:40 and sunset 10:00. We used to live further north where I was able to work at my computer at 11 pm without lights on!!!!!
  15. Baked ham with wet jerk rub Herbed scalloped potatoes Homemade creamed corn Watermelon, blueberry, feta, pepita and fresh mint salad
  16. We cannot wait to get to Croatia. This zone 1a thing is NOT ideal. My Swiss chard and green bean loops have just poked up yesterday. They are about 2 mm tall. We have not yet had rain since winter so it is bone dry. We had many feet of snow but it melted quickly, flooded and just ran off.
  17. Blech! I know your homemade are as good as it gets but occasionally you just want to try a commercial product just in case it MAY be ok. Sounds downright nasty and disappointing. Sorry about your traumatic experience!!!
  18. ...and this is food related so you're ok.
  19. You, as always, are just too cute for words. Wish I could reach out and pinch your cheeks! The HH thing intrigues me as well. I've read links you've provided and cannot believe how many of the symptoms I have (had). It just makes so much sense! Tonight we are having the second half of the ribs... Spicy Bourbon ribs with a Memphis rub I always...
  20. Honey garlic roasted baby back ribs (vanilla bean brine) Poutine with provolone and oozing with unctuous Worcestershire sauce Steamed minted peas with caramelized shallots Rhubarb crisp
  21. I make my own blends all the time, put in jars and shake before using. However, I have bought 2 of these blends and love them. Surprisingly, they are at our Winner's store!
  22. That's awesome! I'm a gardener, too, but suffer severe chronic back pain so am now limited to my raised beds. But I still manage to grow tons of herbs and veg and make all sorts of preserves, jellies (many are savoury, not just sweet), sauces, salsas, etc. Our gardening zone is only 1a so rather restrictive. Thankfully lots of summer heat and sunshine...
  23. YES! I know where he lives. Well, not really, but I know where he cooks. We're going back in four months - this time I'll try to sneak a photo (maybe one from the front and another from the back so you can see all the lovely roses and semi-tropical plants growing in the background ).
  24. This morning I made some unctuous creamy potato, corn and poblano soup seasoned with lots of fresh thyme.
  25. Welcome, 28in4dave! Glad to have you here. I am definitely with you on the fresh thing. I make nearly everything from scratch including BBQ sauces, ketchups, mustards, all sorts of preserves, sauces, pesto, etc. Tonight we are grilling thick bone-in pork chops that I brined, olive oil-rubbed baked potatoes (with bay leaves and garlic in between...
