  1. If you think the mix is good, try homemade - just as easy and more delicious! I did a taste test. My favourite way to use egg yolks is in Zabaglione. I sometimes throw in an extra couple of yolks into frittatas. My husband would say chocolate pots de creme would be his first pick. They are fantastic! And don't forget Hollandaise.
  2. Back from vacation (darn it!). and , as well as but don't forget ... I made pasta with shrimp and roasted garlic and lemon cream sauce and steamed broccoli. Did not have the energy to create something great. Tomorrow, though... Ummm....I just realized I posted this on the wrong thread! I cite jet lag as my sorry excuse.
  3. Do you even know which thingers are showing? We will have a glorious, amazing and splendiferous time. Tax season is OVER in exactly 6 minutes. Then I get my husband back. There's just no telling what might happen. I will be a very good girl. SEE YOU IN A FEW WEEKS!!!!
  4. Will soon be on a plane to Croatia. Dinner tonight will just be a snack as I have several billion excited butterflies in my tummy. Cannot wait for the wondrous seafood and fish from the Mediterranean! We will be frequenting the markets for fresh produce to cook in our charming outdoor kitchen, which is a far cry from our solid block of ice we call northern...
  5. Snowing heavily at this moment. WHY, WHY, WHY??????? Off to Croatia this week and will welcome the drastic change in weather.
  6. We definitely do need the sun and warmth and green. Everything is all white and/or brown. Not a stitch of green (well, except for the shirt I am wearing at the moment). And you are right about Bingley. We adore him but to be honest it will be a great break, just my husband and I. There is so much to see and do there we could be occupied within an...
  7. Thanks, IH. You and your perfect smiley thingers and kind words. I love you, too.
  8. Going on our May Croatia trip in just a few days so thought I'd drop in to tell you that I've not dropped off the face of the planet. Will be happy to trade snow for green grass, blooming plants and warm temps. Cannot wait to see what our house renos look like! Please tell me I won't miss our Bingley too much. "Talk" to you soon! Will report...
  9. It's funny - I noticed this when you first posted, was going to BANISH you but then must have forgotten. Anyhoo, all is well. Just as long as you agree with me everything will be alright.
  10. WHEW! So relieved you came to that conclusion. One of my wee pet peeves is the macaron vs. macaroon issue thinger. There is a huge difference between the two - my photo is indeed macarons.
  11. Dry rubbed pork side ribs with unctuous homemade bourbon barbecue sauce Potato salad Steamed broccoli Wanted to force Spring into our home.
  12. The size of slow cooker you use makes a HUGE difference but nearly all recipes can be easily adjusted (unless you have a specific cut of meat or whatever). Recipes using a 2.5 quart slow cooker? Interesting because that is very small. Most recipes seem to call for at least a 4 quart or larger. Anyway, as Karen recommended, please let us know specifically...
  13. Today's high was -2 and I opened the windows for some snowy air!
  14. You can make them! Not at my computer where the recipes are saved. They really are not difficult.
  15. If they can grow in my area, they can grow anywhere. Honest. They grow in northern Alberta! I get them from the Farmer's Market sometimes. My favourite thing to do with them is to make a mean roasted wild mushroom and sunchoke soup.
  16. My crockpot thinger comes in handy the odd time but not for true braising. It does free up another burner! When I use my thinger I feel as though I am cheating. The macarons do look sorta good, do they not?
  17. I just read about your dental woes. I feel for you. It must have been a dreadful experience. How are you doing today? Sorry you must limit your lentil intake.
  18. Easy Indian recipes that can easily be converted to gluten free: Open Original Shared Link
  19. I just throw in some of it with my bread recipes, usually about 1 to 2 tsp or so per loaf of bread. I do not adjust my liquids. Another thing that works is using a tsp or so of unflavoured gelatin. Makes a nicer texture.
  20. I've tested some recipes from her new book (I am a recipe tester) and have her other book. Her recipes are usually reliable but some need tweaking. One bread one I made the other day was less than stellar but others are incredible. I use her homemade pasta recipes with success. Her chocolate chip cookies are the best I have ever had. Ever. Including...
  21. I made a batch of corn gnocchi to go with marinara sauce. Simple but good.
  22. You still need the dogsleds. It is snowing like mad right now. Snowed yesterday and it is in the forecast again for tomorrow. THIS IS ENOUGH! I QUIT! I NEED OUTTA HERE! But the weather is conducive for cooking. Tomorrow is braising day.
  23. Addy, could you have chili without beans? Can you have lentils? It is great with lentils, meaty mushrooms and beef. No beans needed.
  24. "Real" people! You are too funny.
  25. Been away from here for another few days. Looks like I've missed lots! I'm getting ready for our trip to Croatia in ten itty bitty days. So much to do! But at least nothing outside needs to be done as it is SNOWING heavily yet again. This really, really, really, really, really sucks. When will we warm up to 0???? Tonight we are having: Stuffed...
