ARCHIVED Any 'canners' Out There?
love2travel replied to notme's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My favourite things to can are jams and jellies, many savoury ones such as nectarine with thyme and caramelized onion, or apricot jalapeno. One favourite is roasted strawberry with balsamic jam. Oh, and blood orange and grapefruit marmalade. I also do my own tomato sauces, salsas and all sorts of cool condiments. I love it! It is so gratifying looking... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Challenge Before Endoscopy
love2travel replied to NancyDrewWho's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It is recommended that a gluten challenge be about three months in duration, not just one week! I was told to ingest the equivalent to 3- 4 pieces of bread daily for 12 weeks. It is odd that you were told that small timeframe. I do hope the results will be accurate. Many people who have been gluten free for ages do the challenge so thankfully you are... -

It's been too hot to do serious cooking so last night I made Thai lettuce wraps with grilled (and brined) shrimp, homemade sambal olek and nuoc cham, shredded carrot, cucumber, vermicelli noodles. That sort of thing. Tonight we are grilling again. We are having grilled thick-cut bone-in pork chops with a Greek-inspired wet rub, roasted Greek lemon dill... -

I was a foodie since conception and have always loved foods except commercial cottage cheese. Shudder... I was a very healthy child and young adult. Never ill. To this day I miss really great homemade chewy ciabatta bread and flaky croissants. I admit it! I miss gluten. Don't worry. Will never, ever stop being vigilant and will not even consider... -

Addy, am not forgetting to post ketchup recipes for you. Am finding this heat debilitating. All I do is a struggle. It is 40C or 104F (with humidex). Feeding Bingley ice cubes and keeping myself hydrated. How do people cope with this? It is dreadful and we have no A/C. -
ARCHIVED May God Bless Our Firefighters!
love2travel replied to GottaSki's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Am watching this on TV right now. How tragic! I feel terribly sad for the families. We came a few feet from losing our house in Croatia a year ago that was saved by courageous fire fighters. To this day I wish I knew who was involved in fighting those (ARSON) fires and thank them personally for their tireless efforts. Firefighters are heroic and not... -

ARCHIVED Happy Spring, Fellow Gardeners!
love2travel replied to notme's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My vegetables are still at the tiny stage but are growing quickly in this (dreadful) heat. The wild roses are beginning to bloom as are the irises. The lilacs are going strong. My herbs are very happy. I've been using them a LOT. Open Original Shared Link -
Grilled bacon is unctuous. Take a slab of side bacon, slice thickly, brush with maple syrup and BBQ sauce and grill. It crisps and becomes absolute perfection.
