When you are gluten intolerant it is not uncommon to have brain swelling that puts pressure on the blood flow to certain parts of your brain. The body knows much. This 'mental claustrophobia' could very well be that your brain is swollen and feels 'claustrophobic'. I really have no idea how accurate that is but I find that usually we know more...

Hey Molly, I'm glad my bad experience had a positive outcome one way or another It is great that you discovered you are gluten intolerant. Gluten certainly can have some horribly impressive effects on the nervous system. Impressive, in a very bad way! The way I see it is that Celiac disease is just one form of gluten intolerance. I remember reading...

D'aw, I WAS feeling a lot better Yolo, the jumping far away and close is something I had about once a month as a child! Scary stuff indeed! Adorable how your mother tried to help in that situation. I was unbelievably grateful for your reply while in that state of panic! So thanks again Glutenfreemanna, that makes SO MUCH SENSE!! I understand so well...

Thanks for the reply I love the way you view 'us sensitives'. That is a very comforting way to see it... If anything, glutenings provide excellent opportunities for the practice of self nurturing. Perhaps I'll even dig up some dandelion root from the yard tomorrow. Nothing more reassuring than the reassurance of nature... I have yet to try dandelion...

I don't really know why Im posting but last night I was glutened and right now, 24 hours later I feel like I'm losing my mind!! I haven't eaten gluten for around 6 months... My brain feels completely numb, but is throbbing at the same time and evyerthing is scary. I don't know what else to say I can barely comprehend simple things like a word.... I thought...

Don't you just love when you feel completely alone in your opinions on gluten, dairy and the powers of health, and then you catch a show, magazine article, or even a billboard sign that just UNDERSTANDS... I am watching right now "The Ultramind Solution: Defeat Depression, Overcome Anxiety..." And it's all about how if we are having symptoms, there is usually...

ARCHIVED Only Gluten Symptom I Get
revenant replied to jasonD2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Where in your legs? I detect whether or not I've been minimally glutened by the tingling/tightening sensation I get just above one of my knees. That is the most sensitive symptom for me. Sounds like it could very well could be a symptom for you, but there is no way to know unless you go for the diet (I'm guessing you have not?) and see whether or not that... -
ARCHIVED After All These Years.....it Was Gluten!?
revenant replied to MEH's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes! You're not crazy at all! I'm so happy to see that you are regaining your life! There is much ahead of you I'm in my teens, and even though my life has been 'short', discovering that gluten was behind my problems (and my family's!) was like being re-birthed, after a DEEP sense of betrayal and mistrust for the entire world, like discovering you... -
I am actually gaining weight/gained weight when I went gluten free... It's important to note that, while on gluten I was gaining far more rapidly, because while on gluten my binge eating was very very bad. Now I've found so many additional intolerances (corn, soy, eggs, dairy...) that my diet has to be pretty limited, and I'm still gaining weight. I'm used...

ARCHIVED Apples
revenant replied to twe0708's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Are you sure it's not the peanutbutter? Some brands of peanut butter use soy oil, and many gluten intolerants also have problems with soy. Are the apples that you eat really shiney? It could also be the wax that they put over the apple, which usually contains casein or soy. So try to avoid those waxy glossy apples -
ARCHIVED How Are The Grain-Free Folks Doing?
revenant replied to precious831's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Heyoo I'm going grain free and will tell you how I feel Grains seem to not be doing so well with me anymore -
Oh wow... thankyou for posting this.. I seemed to show emotions when I thought they were appropriate but I never, ever felt, thought about, or expressed them... I never felt anything!! It's hard to believe. I believe that I like road trips so much because that's the only time I FELT. I got car-sick, and couldn't eat anything except fruit on long road trips...

ARCHIVED Anyone Else Lose Their Childhood?...
revenant replied to HelpinOhio's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hey, this also sounds very similar. I'm so, so glad to hear that things have gotten better for you with your depression/social anxiety! A year ago I had intense social anxiety/depression (It was when the anxiety in particular was at it's worst) and I dropped out of school.. The memory is a big issue for me also. Over this past month, my social anxiety... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else Lose Their Childhood?...
revenant replied to HelpinOhio's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wow, Neroli.. That is your name right? That is a beautiful name... Reading that post was simply beautiful. "We learn that our reactions are abnormal but that we ourselves should be normal. because there is 'nothing wrong with us', or, if we are feeling abnormal, then there is 'really something wrong with us'. and that is not acceptable. So we adapt to... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else Lose Their Childhood?...
revenant replied to HelpinOhio's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This forum really hits the nail on the head I'm sure there are many who feel like they have lost their childhood to this disease... I feel for all of you and can relate! My parents claim that I had my happy times as a kid but the thing is that I was so quiet and secretive as a child that I simply did not tell them of the pain I was in I also thought it... -
I purposely dairy-ed, corn-ed, egg-ed, and soy-ed myself, again, first time in a month though. I just can't stop. It's my new method of hurting myself, but I was doing SO well! I am so discouraged, and I am terrified because in about 30 minutes i'm going to begin feelng extremely depressed/paranoid/visual disturbances/anxious... I'm really scared And need...

ARCHIVED Raw Food Diet
revenant replied to revenant's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello.. I tried the raw food diet for one month, and it has been the only period of time that I felt energetic, happy, focused, and almost completely without my anxiety and depression. The detoxification is difficult to get through, and can be mistaken for how it feels to be on a raw food diet. Once you get over the hump, life is beautiful. I think the... -
ARCHIVED Please Help My Sister By Sharing Your Story
revenant replied to revenant's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thankyou! Rustycat, try not to focus on the time lost.. It is a miracle that we have been given time to feel so much better for the rest of our lives! I sympathize with you though, I often feel like I lost my entire childhood to this. Childhoods can't be relived, but one can acquire the mannerisms of a child and enjoy life like never before And that... -
Hello.. I think anxiety and depression can most definitely be caused or exaggerated by gluten intolerance and/or celiac. For me personally, the part of my depression that felt like a black hole lifted immediately upon going gluten free. I had lived with it throughout my entire life, and it caused be the loss of many friends, drug use, intense rage towards...

ARCHIVED Alice In Wonderland Syndrome (vision Disturbances)
revenant replied to acousticmom's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Ah..! I have been looking for the name of this! As a child I used to have these episodes, lasting 10-25 minutes, where I would be lying in bed.... with my eyes closed. Suddenly I would begin to get closed-eye hallucinations of one big triangle constructed of lines, but it was COMPLETELY... how to explain?.... they were far, but close, still, but moving... -
ARCHIVED Please Help My Sister By Sharing Your Story
revenant posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi there, I have expressed this before on this forum, that my sister has been depressed almost her entire short-lived life (She is 16, now). These last few years she has become suicidal, has been diagnosed with "bipolar disorder" (intense anger to intense depression), anxiety, depression and psychosis (she hears voices and sees things from the corner of... -
Uugh, as a teenager I don't have a lot of money, as a teenager who has to buy my own food it becomes even more difficult. I decided to pick up Vitamin D supplements because I get S.A.Disorder in the winter and I suspect my vitamin D levels are beyond low. So I picked some up for 20 bucks at the health food store, the one with the least ingredients, and then...
