well I did start using a new toothpaste to help treat extremely sensitive teeth. I won't worry about it this time but will keep in mind when I eat again. It was VAN'S waffles. Being sick, that and fruit were the only things that sounded good to me. I don't like being sick This particular bacon does not bother me. I LOVE bacon but it took 3 different...

Its just strange, I eat these two items. In abundance! Last time I broke out in hives was before I went gluten-free. They are going down but of course I clawed my chest all up and now it stings. grrr.

This is not the first time. I don't very often but it's usually on my chest, right between my breasts (sorry). I had two gluten-free waffles and about 3 cups of watermelon for dinner. I started itching about an hour later and now it's driving me insane with welps and itching. Earlier I had 2 eggs and 2 pieces of bacon and a gluten-free fruit n nut bar...

ARCHIVED This Is All So Totally New To Me..
Aphreal replied to tater218's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh and with 4 kids, sports etc.. we are always on the go too. I just have to do more planning than normal and either eat earlier or use the crockpot and eat late with more snacks. I have to be much more conscience at the grocery store. Easy on the go snacks are SO easy but full of crap. Find a fruit or veggie they love and keep that on hand. Easier than... -

Esp for this one. I was also warned the office wait is very long even when you DO get in. She spends a good amt of time with each patient. Since that is the case, I really don't mind. I know when it's my turn I will get the same treatment. -
ARCHIVED A Public Apology To Coffee
Aphreal replied to Chakra2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I too have had to cut back. I also can't really digest coffee you get at fast food or corner market places. I too am grateful for my one cup a day. Otherwise it tears up my digestive tract. -
I am in somewhat similar situation. I think I am CC myself because I cook only gluten-free for myself. I know I have seen that you should have a dedicated gluten-free prep area but my kitchen is SO small... Also have gluten-free utensils, cooking items and toaster etc.. again where to keep it. We have no room nor money for all new stuff.

ARCHIVED "gluten Free Is All The Rage Now"
Aphreal replied to sandsurfgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is my POV and this may have been said but I didn't read all the responses. I think people are confusing gluten-free with Low or no carb because of the correlation between breads in general and carbs. I am rather irked that they think this is some fun new toy to play with to loose weight when people like you or me struggle to not eat gluten because we... -

*gas happens* LOL. Not a funny thing Jason I know but everyone gets gas sometimes. even your lady friend I wouldn't Xoff that meal just yet. It was prob the strong garlic or maybe even the tomatoes. If she didn't notice, I wouldn't even get it another thought.

I was going to have to wait till Oct to see the Gastro. (remember I think I may have found a really good one that listens to her patients). There was an opening Sept 7 so I took it. (leave 8th for colorado). Today they called and they had an opening this friday!! I may get my testing in before I leave for Colorado. I had another attack. I ordered the...

My hip joint aches and lower back aches were the first to go when I went gluten-free. I also have shoulder arthritis and I haven't had any pain from that either. Thank GOD! The hip thing was about to do me in! I would try to move. Who wants to be achy all day? Tiff

I wouldn't refuse. Ive been through the prep before and yea, it sucks. The GI said if they removed the exessive cell growth it may come back and not stop growing. Then again that was what 22 years ago. It may be some huge honkin tumor in there now. Ever wanna just hide your head and pretend it's not there? -

I find it interesting that back when I was first DXed with IBS, I was put on the BRAT diet. Banana, Rice, Apples and Toast. I see many IBS misdiagnoses so eating little more than toast would throw a celiacs system into turmoil. Kinda crazy. Of course I didn't stick to it. I mean hello.. no protein at all, no dairy. I was starving! -

Raven, I am afraid to eat gluten but I understand why. What you say makes a ton of sense. I did try a bunch of new things all at once. Leave it to me to go overboard all at once. I have had been tubed every which way from sunday. This was when I was 18 and they told me I had IBS and I also have a growth in my small intestine. It was never removed. Yes... -

Thanks guys, I needed to get that out of my system. I feel better now. I think the best thing is to go back to meat, veggie, fruits and dairy as a base diet. I did that the first two weeks and I felt great. I then went nuts with gluten-free bread type stuff (I am a breadoholic) No wonder I don't know what it is!! So I guess I better do that and get my bowel... -

I am a fixer. I want to fix and it be fixed and be done with it. However, although I have made all my own foods gluten-free, I am still eating something that is hurting me. I am so much better than before... Headaches gone, Sleeping is somewhat normal now. Aches and pains gone, arthritic pain gone, most of the distension and ab pain is gone but I have marked... -

Omgosh. What if you had a peanut allergy? That can kill you on the spot (well I heard... I have a friend with a severe peanut allergy), What if you were diabetic and they offered sugar without telling anyone? Our allergies are ours to control and you did that. You asked. What did they expect? You to poison yourself to keep the peace? I am very angry on...

ARCHIVED No Way To Turn Entire Home gluten-free
Aphreal replied to Aphreal's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It was after I went gluten free that I realized really fatty (read cheap) meat bothered my GI tract. Also (hides head in shame) I would buy the logs of cheap meat with fillers to make it last. low fat, lean cuts do not upset my stomach but they are more expensive. When you spend little over $400 a MONTH for a family of 6 (including paper, cleaning items...
