ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Wedding Menu Ideas?
Aphreal replied to twinkle-toez's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is something that sticks in craw. People other than the bride and groom thinking they have the right to say what goes or doesn't in someone elses wedding. Do you have to have it a catered event? Our reception was short and sweet. Cake and a few snacks and we were off. We were not into the day long into the night wedding receptions that are catered ... -
ARCHIVED How Do You Handle Going To A Wedding?
Aphreal replied to SaraKat's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Honestly, I would eat before I go and just enjoy the company and festivities of the ceremony. Personally, planning a wedding is so overwelming I wouldn't want to put added stress on the bride but that is just me -

Aphreal replied to Aphreal's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
forgot to mention, I recently had oral surgery. Extractions on both sides so it's been difficult to eat. My gums ulcerated too so that adds to the problem. -
ARCHIVED Gave It A Month.. Lost 17Lbs
Aphreal replied to Aphreal's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
the rarity I use butter, i do use real, full fat butter. yes I want to loose weight but I am not new to this rodeo. I do know when you loose weight by eating too little, you are3 stuck when it comes to maintenance. The ideal is to eat as much as you can.... and loose weight so that when you get to maintenance... you are not stuck eating next to nothing... -
I am very leary of anything that claims to help you loose weight but on a whim I tried Alchochofa. The only reason is because it did NOT claim to boost your metabolism. So I gave it a month and I have lost 17 lbs.. Ok maybe closer to 5 weeks. Before that I had an out of control appetite and was gaining weight. I wish I could say I feel great but I have...

ARCHIVED Ibs Vs Celiac Disease
Aphreal replied to amiller1030's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Probably half the board and the other half who know they have a gluten sensetivity are still told it's just IBS. He will do well on a gluten-free diet. Possibly low carb to. That helps me a lot! -
Gorgie, I have been taking miralax every day. It didn't work ove3r a 3 day period so I stopped. I have been impacted and it's torture. I was pregnant and had severe hyperemesis. I went probably a week without food and little water (kept nothing down what so ever 24/7) when they set me up with home health care. I had a Pic-U with a 3 gallon bag of water...

She made me choose which was worse... the D or the constipation. For me, they were equal so I think that is part of the problem. I am going to stop taking the bentyl all together and see if that helps. along with the other suggestions Thanks guys.

The only thing they came up with was Melenosis which is a discoloration of the lining as a result of laxative abuse. First off, I don't take laxative. Secondly my scope was a week ago and I still havent been able to go. If I took so much laxative to discolor my colon I wouldn't be going so long without going! grrr.... I am feeling bloated but nothing is...

Aphreal replied to sandsurfgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
OMG everyone knows you don't ask. In fact unless I know for a fact, I say nothing at all! I have been in that situation. Someone asked when i was due...when I wasn't pg. I have to roll my eyes because at 1 month you dont have anything to show for your baby making efforts. It sounds like he just wanted to be an a$$ I totally understand how vulnerable... -

Aphreal replied to precious831's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ostrich is very lean too. We can only get it from Fudruckers here and its expensive. Our local store sells Bison but Ive never had it. It's pretty lean too isn't it? -
Living a different life isn't the same as not having one. I had to back up and start over. I rarely eat anything other than what I make myself. I trust nothing. I read everything. It kinds stinks sometimes because at each party we attend, I bring my own salad, my own fruit..even my own silverware. But you know.... Let them eat their gluten laden fat filled...

ARCHIVED Anyone Here Grain-Free?
Aphreal replied to precious831's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have never heard of the paleo diet but looking it up... the longer I go gluten-free, the less grains I eat. I eat mostly ruffage, meat, eggs, beans. I will make gluten-free pizza and once in a blue moon I will have gluten-free pasta or a cookie but rarely. At first I went nuts with the gluten-free stuff but when I eat too many grains or carbs I start to... -
ARCHIVED How Hard Is It To Be Careful?
Aphreal replied to sandsurfgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh darn, I am so sorry to hear you got hit again I only have 2 places I go. One mom n pop joint that I know uses no fillers. Meat patty with cheese and mashed potatoes and beans and cheese from tacobell. Anywhere else... I make my own food at home. I am tired of messing with restaurant food. Gentle hugs, feel better soon! Tiff -
Actually I used to take Librax and just changed to Bentyl. When one eats, a signal goes to the brain that you are eating and will need to prepare for an evacuation. In MY brain however, The signal is defective and by the time my food hits my tummy, My bowl is spasming. I need an antispasmotic. The librax has valium in it which is why I had to switch. ...

Bentyl tends to slug things up so I am trying out some probiotics and fibre therapy. I switched from Phillips colon health 3b cfu then i went to a health food store and trying Natures way Primadophilus Bifidus 5b cfu. However they have a celiac bowel health suppliment. (havent tried it,.. kinda expensive) I also chew 2 vitafusion fibre gummies. gluten-free...

Ive had to lay off anything crunchy because of dental issues for like a month. He extracted the biggest of the problems so when I DO heal, I hope I can go back to my carrots and gluten-free crackers. xox Another quip.. So what DO you eat? "Well.... I used to have 4 children" BWAAHAHAHAAHA! *sigh*
-
HA! Lets all come up with a quip for the question. hmmm.... *what DO you eat?*, "How do you think we keep our rodent problem under control?"
-
What the heck? I am SO sorry. That is horrible!! Stress is a big trigger for my symptoms and that would take me over the edge. I really am sorry, lifting you up for strength. Thank you all for the encouragement. I knew I could come here. I think I am having cramping from a spot in my bowel where maybe she had a problem with the scope. Its a sharp pain...

If one more person asks "well, what DO you eat then?" UGH! Secondly I had my colonoscopy. Couple of spots, waiting on biopsy results. Thirdly, I had some knarly oral surgery yesterday so now I hurt, I can hardly open my mouth and since I had work on both sides, I have nowhere to chew really. I am doped on vicodin so I cant drive and the kids are being...
