  1. In trying to determine what food has caused your reaction, you really need to keep a food journal. It wasn't until I did that I realized I was not reacting to foods I had just eaten, but to foods I ate three days earlier. I have also started keeping track of different brands and keeping labels for reference. Some day I will get it all figured out.
  2. A year and a half ago my frequent loose stools turned into chronic diarrhea and I lost 15 lbs. in two months. Because of my son
  3. But according to EnteroLab testing I am gluten sensitive, but I do not have either one of the celiac genes. I have two gluten sensitivity genes (one the same as Raven). Until the "experts" get it figured out, I'm gluten free. However, it does make a difference for my son. He was diagnosed celiac as an infant, lived two years on soy milk, rice, bananas...
  4. Peter, I am not a celiac. I am "just" gluten intolerant. However, I have had vitiligo and peripheral neuropathy for 25 years. I believe both of these are thought to be autoimmune reactions.
  5. Some of you who have been posting for some time may get tired of saying the same thing repeatedly. However, there are some like me who are slow learners. I don't know how many times "you" have said to watch how many processed products we eat in a day that are listed as gluten-free--less than 20ppm--there's a cumulative effect. Since I don't eat very many...

    ARCHIVED Vitiligo?

In the books I've read, vitiligo is often mentioned as a symptom of celiac. I have not seen any mention of it on this forum and wonder if any of you have had any experience with it and if so, have you seen any improvement? My vitiligo started about 25 years ago at about the same time as my neuropathy.

    ARCHIVED Citric Acid?

I am not super sensitive so that could make a difference. Their box states that each production run is tested to not exceed 20PPM.

    ARCHIVED Citric Acid?

I have not had any problem with corn. In Iga testing it was high normal but not a problem. In season, I have had half a cob every day but limit it to that. The only vegetable that has been a problem is tomatoes, but not the other nightshade vegetables. A couple of days ago when shopping, I looked at the cans of tomatoes. They all contain citric acid...
  9. Can citric acid cause a problem? Recently I discovered Blue Diamond
  10. I learned how to spell diarrhea.
  11. Another thought. Blood tests for vitamin and mineral levels are not always good indicators of tissue levels.
  12. I have problems with neuropathy in my feet. The burning at night keeps me awake. However, if I go back to my "safe dozen" I have no problem. I had thought that neurological problems would heal gradually, so I am surprised that it can vary so much for me in a few days. This week is good--last week was bad--the week before, good.
  13. My son tested positive for both gluten and casein intolerance on Enterolab testing. He has no symptoms that he is aware of from either. Because he knows of the damage that gluten can do even without symptoms, he avoids gluten. He is not as careful, however, with casein because he feels that the problem with casein is only the symptoms and that there...
  14. You're right about the agave. It was the first sugar problem I became aware of--it was in one of my supplements. Supplements were the first thing I tested in my elimination diet.
  15. I have a problem with sugar. I had a food allergy blood test done and it identified cane sugar as a problem (beet sugar was not tested). Not knowing the source of the sugar in my canister, I dumped my sugar and purchased beet sugar. Produced the same symptoms as glutening. I also a problem with honey, raisens and dates (think Lara Bars) but fruit is no...
  16. I have had very little experience baking bread. With all the good varieties avail pre-gluten-free, I didn't see the need to bake my own. Now, in addition to gluten intolerance, I also have a problem with sugars and honey (Udi's doesn't work for me). Is it possible to bake a yeast bread without sugar or honey?
  17. There was a study published in March on Celiac and Gluten Sensitivity
  18. Everyone is different, but for me it takes three days for symptoms to show up. I need to keep a detailed food journal to be able to track down the problem food.
  19. It has taken me four years to get my vitamin D levels up to mid-range taking 5,000 units a day plus an extra 50,000 weekly. I've just been gluten free since January.
  20. Aren't iron and hemoglobin readings like this dangerously low?
  21. For me, all the symptoms he has been having are a sign that I have been glutened. Fatigue, sleep problems and depression. He needs to check his food carefully.
  22. One thing that took me a while to figure out--the timing of symptoms. Some people get an almost immediate reaction, but not me. I finally realized that the diarrhea I got was not from, for example, the blueberries I added that day, but to something I had eaten three days previously. My symptoms start somewhere between 60-80 hours later and then last for...
  23. My reactions to sugar are basically the same as my reactions to gluten. GI-diarrhea, fatigue, sinus, sleep problems, neuropathy, brain fog. That's why I thought it must be CC, but when I looked at my food journals and journaling of symptoms I realized that it was the sugar causing the problems. I use stevia daily with no problem, but even my chewing gum...
  24. Is it possible to have an intolerance to sugar? In trying to figure out what other problems I had besides gluten, I did an IgG blood spot food-allergy test. One of the things that came back positive was cane sugar. This would explain the problem I had with Udi
