My son does long-distance bike riding. He has found that additional magnesium has eliminated all his muscle soreness and cramps. There is magnesium available that is manufactured to be almost 100% absorbable so that is doesn't cause diarrhea. I use it for the leg cramps I get at night. This might help you.

I can remember saying to myself, "I feel like I've just had a vocabulary infusion". -
ARCHIVED How Long Do Waves Of Fatigue Continue?
Lori2 replied to hopefulinmybody's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It seems like I have been working on this for months and the progress is slow. However, I have had a few GOOD days--really good--enough to know what it feels like. I WANT MORE and I won't quit until I get it. -
I wonder if there is any connection between the two companies that have bread--Udi's and Rudi's.
-
Its been over a year since I have had bread so at the store yesterday I decided to try a loaf of Udis. First, the sticker shockI knew from reading here that it was expensive but I wasnt prepared for $5.69 for a 12 ounce loaf (that's 44 cents a slice). Second, the tasteI thought it was pretty good, even had a second slice. Then I read the ingredients list...

I just received the results of an IgG Food Allergy Test which showed that one of the things I'm allergic to is cane sugar. That should explain why I have a problem with Betty Crocker gluten-free cookie mix. But, for me, I don't think it would affect my fruit consumption.

ARCHIVED Has Anyone Done Major Home Renovations Post gluten-free?
Lori2 replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you're living in the house while you're renovating it, wouldn't the dust be everywhere? You could wear a mask while doing the work, but you can't wear a mask all the time that the renovations are going on. -
Have any of you had a diagnosis of MS and have it improve or go away when you went gluten free? I have been reading about the prevelance of MS in Celiacs and wondered if I should mention it as a possibility to a friend who has just been diagnosed with MS.

ARCHIVED Well Water Making Me Sick
Lori2 replied to Austin Guy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Softened water is not good for drinking. Our house (which we purchased two years ago) has a separate faucet for drinking--cold, unsoftened. -
Be aware that the bars could be a problem. I absolutely love the Cinnamon Roll Lara Bars--bought three cartons--only to find out that they give me diarrhea.

I have a friend who discovered after suffering for two years that her severe arthritis was caused by the aspartame in diet sodas. Nasty stuff whether you're celiac or not.

ARCHIVED 20 Month Old Just Diagnosed With Celiac Disease-So Many Questions
Lori2 replied to tls1914's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When my son was a baby he was diagnosed as celiac with diarrhea as his main symptom. He lived for two years on bananas, rice cereal, lamb and soy milk. He could not tolerate jello--I don't know why. After two years he "outgrew" it and has eaten a normal diet for many years with no symptoms. Dr. Peter Green states in his book that you do not outgrow celiac... -
ARCHIVED Question About "a Hidden Epidemic"
Lori2 replied to anna34's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Here are several paragraphs from an article I copied on 4/11/11: Gluten sensitivity is really just starting to emerge as a recognized condition. As Peter Green, director of the Celiac Disease Center, explains to WSJ, today's gluten sensitivity research is roughly where celiac disease research was 30 years ago. But that research just took an important... -
ARCHIVED Betty Crocker gluten-free Cookie Mix?
Lori2 replied to Lori2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
And I hope it's the cookies and not the leeks. The cookies are just OK and I'm not desperate yet. However, I really like the leeks added to my brown rice and celery pilaf--but afraid my pilaf seasoning may be a problem too. So many things to figure out and I'm a year into this already. -
Does anyone have problems with Betty Crocker gluten-free Cookie Mix? I'm having problems with something and since my reactions are delayed by about three days, it's sometimes difficult to pinpoint what is the cause. Today I have diarrhea. On Tuesday I introduced the cookies and also leeks--ate them both on Tuesday and Wednesday. I guess I have to remember...

I love Lara bars and ordered 3 cartons of the Cinnamon Roll flavor. Guess what--they give me diarrhea. Obviously gluten is not my only problem.

Steve, you can't change people who do not want to change. Stop nagging. Either accept her as she is or leave her. Just my two cents worth. Spoken as a person who is a 24/7 caretaker for a spouse with health problems.

ARCHIVED Will Trace Amount Of Gluten Complelety Ruin All You Have Been Dieting For
Lori2 replied to justinjames's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My daughter's canker sore problem was diagnosed at Mayo Clinic as an iron malabsorbtion problem. Finding an iron supplement that she could absorb has helped the problem. Her celiac blood panel was negative. -
ARCHIVED Naturopath Worth The Money?
Lori2 replied to superfob's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
She may be right about the sprouted wheat. I take a product made from sprouted barley. I have taken it for years as it really helps my arthritis. The company tests for gluten content and it tests at 8ppm. I continue to use it with no problem. -
It seems to me that your diet is almost totally carbs. Your body won't function well without proteins. You are getting some fats in the nuts.

ARCHIVED Reactions To Gluten? Help!

And it takes about three days for diarrhea to hit for me. Makes it hard to figure out what caused it. It would be a lot easier if it happened immediately. -

Lori2 replied to jeslk's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Actually, aren't you showing symptoms? Your signature says you have been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and thyroid cancer. According to Dr. Green (Columbia Celiac Center) in his book, Celiac Disease A Hidden Epidemic, he states that thyroid cancer is 22 times more prevelant in a celiac than in the general population. Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is ... -
