  1. you are playing with your food that makes me happy, too! i guess once you get comfortable with what you're doing, things get more interesting. i was pondering using lasagne noodles, cooked partially and drained - like cook them a little drain and let them 'dry off' then roll up with stuff and fry them. i wonder if they will stick together well, though...
  2. i still believe it is all mis-diagnosis. it is celiac if it is celiac they just told you it was something else because they don't have a test good enough yet. i didn't have 'pre-celiac' - i had a baby and it turned on the gene -BOOM - celiac. except every doctor i went to told me it was something else, gave me another pill, pat on the head... my symptoms...
  3. cool deal thanx, laura!
  4. my hair is also not as gray - before dx, i was 4 weeks between colorings and i needed it BAD by then - gray roots/and what wasn't gray was not really the color i started out with! now, it grows in my normal (dirty blonde) color with very little gray. i can go a good 8 weeks (and have been wondering what it would look like if i let it just grow out to see...
  5. i use whatever's on sale - you know, read the labels... the only reason i switched (pre gluten-free pantry to gluten-free pantry) was because people (myself included) cc'd it by using the same spoon when baking with wheat flour. i don't worry much about sugar being processed with wheat.
  6. YES IT WAS!!! that is a no-brainer, cannot-failer - that recipe is a deal closer (attention any women looking to get married lolz! if he doesn't ask after this chicken, move along) my kids away at school were always starved to death. i always stocked their freezers and fridge while i was there, but they were sooo lazy 'mama, all i have are ramen...
  7. IT WAS SO COLLLLDDDD!! but i had a good time - i even ended up with the right amount of tickets after all was said and done... i love halloween/dress up so that gave me a good excuse. doing it again tonight. might put together some stuffed peppers for the hubs and kid #1..... we'll see (MY PRETTY!) lolz rolling pins have more than one use
  8. they were conte (cheese) - pretty great - and i made regular raviolis for the WEaters
  9. tonight's dinner is: i don't care i am dressing up in a victorian costume and being a tour guide on the haunted halloween walking tour. of COURSE it's the coldest it's been yet and going to be in the 30-40's (and of course, the weather is going to warm up after the weekend....) good thing i'm wearing a dress that i can probably fit snowpants underneath...
  10. boars head has packaged stuff - at kroger and publix - also sliced at the deli counter. the ovengold turkey on udi's white bread is still one of my 'go-to's when i get glutened. (just had one....)
  11. i am right there with you - not last saturday, but the saturday before we went out of town and one of the places we ate at (yeah, i broke my own rules - sick of hearing 'we're hungry, where should we eat" so i did the 'find me gluten-free' app (which is actually pretty good on the phone - i thought it was better than the website) and let them pick some places...
  12. me too! i would have never been able to navigate these strange waters without the help of the many kind people on this forum everybody starts at the beginning!! i'm glad you are feeling better! (i am too!) it truly is a huge resource of interactive experience/advice - hopefully urban myth dispeller - from people who have 'been there, done that, got...
  13. ((hugs!)) i promise you will feel better if you stick to the diet. i was in denial for A FEW MONTHS - (who has celiac? notme! lolz) until i got so much worse i couldn't even keep anything down. i was beyond no appetite - i was starving to death. it was soo not fun i guess it takes time to wrap your head around the whole thing, but, trust me, it will...
  14. see if she can wash her hands with soap and water at school instead of the wipes. soap and water will wash any gluten away and will be better than wipes i live with WEs <wheateaters and we share the dishwasher, no prob. high temp, high speed washing and rinsing i am comfortable that everything gets rinsed well. plus, i'm lazy as all get-out
  15. ok - joking aside! when i was pretty new to the diet, i had 'mystery glutenings' - one was that i couldn't stop licking my fingers/touching things (like making sandwiches for the kids - regular 'gluten' bread) and then LICKING MY FINGERS for one reason or another. i broke myself of the habit (and i still hafta catch myself!) by wearing food prep gloves...
  16. oops - almost forgot - she isn't kissing one of those gluteny boys, is she??!! lolz
  17. she is 12 - is she experimenting with make-up or using her friend's make-up? the first thing my girls started wearing was lip gloss. i use all gluten-free stuff except my eye makeup (which i take off separately) there isn't anyone bullying her, is there? seems common lately especially girls her age sad to say my daughter was bullied in school and...
  18. but...........who wants mesylthelioma, ya know? if you or someone you know has it, you gotta call people and stuff. (seems like a hassle)
  19. omgosh, you guys, that is exactly what i had!!!!! before gluten free so i was collecting new ones, mostly off the interwebs or gluten-free adjusted old favorites. and, i *has* a tech. this is not the first time my laptop has done this. but he is my daughter's b/f and working/going to school. notice how i am not sweating the demise of all my...
  20. for the stromboli, i'm gonna hafta find that dough recipe. technology bites me in the a$$ again - i was so forward-thinking, i copied all my gluten-free favorites to a file on my laptop. which is currently blue screening............... i shoulda backed it up onto a stick, but i am stoopit
  21. my mil can't make it right, either. i do not believe, in the 25 years i have known her, that i have ever asked her for a recipe. lolz!! but she has plenty of mine - she even put my stuffed mushroom recipe in a cookbook her church group made for a fundraiser because it's freaking awesome
  22. tonight i think will be: tacos, take TWO lolz - i have ground venison in the freezer. i guess they can keep their never- expiring cow meat *shudder* unless i get another Great Idea for Dinner. omgosh, i am having the worst craving for stromboli i got glutened last weekend (eating out, "untrained" people staying with us, who knows from what...
  23. me too - minus the veggies - i put stewed tomatoes over mine comfort food for me! after tonight's plan was tacos w/the grand kids but the meat was bad! it had an expiration of 10/31..... WHAT? ground beef! i bought iton monday, never checked the date until the package started expanding. how can 'fresh' meat keep until 10/31 anyways, hubs and...
  24. lactaid is good - i started drinking it when i was first diagnosed (skipped dairy for about 6 months) and now i still drink it because i like it. eggs are not dairy, but some people are sensitive or allergic to eggs, but they are gluten free and are safe to eat on gluten-free diet. pancakes are awesome maple syrup is good, i bet you will find alot of...
