  1. i have not a good opinion on waffle house, even before i was gluten-free. cleanliness was an issue, and that's not good. and they always mixed up/messed up orders, so i would be worried because the people preparing your food have to pay attention to all the details. not just my local waffle house, i have been to them all over the country. just beware...
  2. mleh - i made more of the pizza with pillsbury crust and it was fine. again. the op of this thread evidently showed up, made one post and hasn't been back since. they must have picked up one that went 'bad' - so far nobody else has had trouble with this product that i know of. i started a thread about it a while back and everybody on it seemed to do ok
  3. GFCO recalls Purely Elizabeth Granolas - a friend sent me this link to pass on to y'all http://glutenfreeville.com/research/recall-2
  4. i go to a methodist church and i just bring a little bread in a snack baggie - i take it out when i go up, pastor blesses it, an i drink the 'wine' (grape juice) because it is presented in tiny individual glasses. lolz - i have thought of bringing my own wine, but then everybody would want some......... (just kidding)..........
  5. dates and i do not get along but i don't get a gluten reaction from them, just 'loose digestion' (this is a pretty old thread - if i was to comment on the pollenating thing, i think growing the dates/wind/rain would take care of any gluten that may or may not be used) i tried larabars early on starting the gluten-free diet - didn't like them but they seem...
  6. if he is a celiac, he is probably iron deficient among other vitamins and minerals. celiac causes your small intestine to not absorb necessary vitamins and nutrients. a pro-biotic is good, but really the gluten-free diet is the only treatment for celiac. once you get him completely gluten free, you will probably be surprised at how many seemingly unrelated...
  7. the blonde ale was my favorite - so tasty it was that i drank them all (4) and haven't been able to find them since! lolz i'm probably better off
  8. hey, jesse, was it the raspberry? i have had the golden ale (i think that's the name of it) and the blonde and had good results with new planet (except it's like $9 for a FOUR pack - whose great idea was a 4 pack, anyway?!) and i drank it straight from the bottle (but husband opened it with his bic lighter. or his wedding ring, one ) i don't like fruity...

    ARCHIVED The Pie

    yehhhh! taffy AND good pizza
  10. for realz. also, he is TWO - i agree with mommy, if he wants to scream, he can take it somewhere else. but if the kid's got a special need (they can't tell what's making their tummy hurt!) as far as food and what he will eat, let him eat what he WILL eat. there's time to work on his diet in the future.
  11. that seems like a good list, josie - i am curious as to how many answers you will get from him/her. i was recommended to a dietician/nutritionist but it was going to be like 3 weeks before i could get in for an appointment. i had to feed myself in between that time and then the day before my appt, they postponed it! by that time, i was already here and...
  12. addy - sorry to giggle, but let me get this straight. you are getting a tooth pulled. then you are going to a taffy factory.... i *heart* you, girl, but that is like a cartoon plan...... in your honor, tonight we are having: chicken balls! (if i can ever catch the dadgum chicken! LOLZ i thought i saw him peeking at the recipe! oh, well,...
  13. i agree, miriam - testing is muddy at best and cara, yes, a positive response to the gluten free diet is one of the diagnostic tools in determining celiac.
  14. ugh - sorry you are going through this my bloodwork was negative but the doc could see damage when they did the scope and i never went back on gluten for either test. i was too underweight and improving noticeably on the gluten free diet. i was also misdiagnosed/undiagnosed for 25 years, so i guess there was enough damage and no doubt. i feel for you...
  15. i have used it for the second time, now, made it super-duper thin and my sauce a little less sweet - it wanted to stick to the pan a little in the middle, so next time i'm gonna oil the living sh!t out of it - but i have been having a slice here and there for days and no adverse reaction (not even from the soy, i am pleasantly surprised!) i think my next...
  16. i haven't tried it but it looks easy - it's on the land o lakes website and i can't get the link to copy for some reason. just google 'gluten free sugar cookie recipe' and it should come right up supposedly you can roll these out and cut with cookie cutters. and it doesn't have a bunch of ingredients you wouldn't have on hand <which is what i like...
  17. i don't know either! maybe your son has the right idea, colleen i think you can actually sub it for spaghetti, with marinara and whatnot. i know zucchini/yellow squash makes a great sub for lasagne noodles (and i never would have believed that!) i have a butternut squash that has been sitting on the back porch for a whole year. it's still 'good...
  18. LOLZ ! if i must, you know, anything to help a friend....... :D :D :D you should buy some stock in bard's beer and i will help you out with that, too!! hard to find here in e.tn - i'm contemplating ambushing the delivery guy at publix
  19. i do like gluten dude. he has a point - bob's used to be like the only game in town. i will probably continue to buy bob's stuff - never had a problem with it (although the all purpose baking mix is too bean-y for me blech) and the fact that he already has outside testing is good. karen, is this the same recall you posted or a different batch?
  20. yes, ma'am, peels are rough to digest at first - i am just getting peels back now (yay, because they contain lots of good stuff) but i am 3 years gluten free. you might want to peel and cook your veggies at first, and if you're not taking a probiotic, you might want to. i have had better luck with digesting vegs with them.
  21. i don't know what sidekicks are, but did you try the website or google it for ingredients? fyi: gluten-free isn't a magic diet. there's still carbs and all that.
  22. i will *fight* people at wal-mart for the glutino strawberry pop-tarts - i know, i know, processed stuff and all that - but i am a 3 yo lolz
  23. i had the worst night sweats from withdrawal - like, change clothes several times per night and sometimes soaked through, so, change sheets.... alien, are you on gluten or off gluten at this point? i still feel my 'ickiest' in the morning but it's nothing compared to how icky i used to feel! hang in there, it gets better i have been stretching in...
  24. i would get your vitamin levels checked. and if you are wanting to have a celiac panel done, you will want to continue eating gluten. what is your target weight? are you stressing over anything because that will cause you to lose weight if you already have a high metabolism.
  25. yummy yumz yummmy thank you, dahhhling! (omgosh you can roll them in crushed pretzels!) well, i should have a little time on my hands this week...... and chocolate and peanut butter!
